CLARITY - Based on a few comments. I'm not using anything that hasn't been released to the general public and at the top of my screen it says GPT-4o. I downloaded the app, paid for pro because I thought I had to, selected 4o, it told me voice will be available soon, I hit the headphones icon and I started talking with it. This is more a video about interesting ways to have conversations with AI and how that can help creatives. I'm not claiming to be knowledgeable on the topics or releases from OpenAI or the functions of this app or trick anyone to thinking I'm using features that aren't released yet.

Next version doesn't have the annoying delays, and you can interrupt it and it'll stop talking and listen so you can direct it better and faster at normal human speeds. It feels human. Oh, and it now hears for real, so it understands your emotions and tones of voices and it can see via your camera so it has video eyes and talk realtime about what you're showing it. Oh, and we get it in a few more weeks, they showed it already. It's basically the AI from the movie Her.

@@Gnaritas42It is NOT “basically the AI from Her” lol, people really need to calm down and get some perspective on this technology. They’ve made huge leaps forward with the voices and the latency but the brain behind the voice - the model - is nowhere near as powerful as what is shown in that film. GPT4o is nowhere near the level of intelligence shown by the AI in Her. Don’t get fooled by a good voice, the voice has nothing to do with the ‘intelligence’ of the model.

Very mundane, but I was driving back from a meeting two days ago and was getting sleepy. I started to talk to GPT and eventually spent one hour doing a trivia quiz. Kept me awake better than anything I had tried in my life before. Also took a bunch of personality tests, played would you rather, took turns at building a silly story etc. while in a long traffic jam. I agree it's not so much what it tells you back, it's you speaking about you and you don't do that very often so when you do this with chat GPT it's like practice for communicating. you find yourself saying things and realizing things about yourself that you never knew and never thought of.

@@user-eg6nq7qt8c Haha no, the Sky voice is vaguely similar (not extremely) and has been available long before they even approached Scarlett about using her voice, even if they had the intention of being inspired by Her there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. I would find it ridiculous that a mega celebrity could sue my voice as their’s just because my voice is similar. Scarlett Johansson does not own the vocal range of every sweet Californian girl ever, she owns her voice. Nearly every human on earth has fingerprints and all have very many similarities, if we based this Her debacle the same way we do fingerprints, the whole forensics scene would be wildly inaccurate and in shambles. 100,000’s of people would be falsely accused of murder and millions for other crimes. @@RyluRocky people forget the whole AI thing is to get inspired by whatever humans did before. The weird part here is all the drama for the voice of the voice-over artist doing her job, but just because the context made it too similar to the movie HER. Does Scarlet have a trademark, patent, or anything similar that will prevent anyone from mimicking the HER voice? Why is it nowadays so easy for everything to end up in polarised drama?

I think there is an opportunity here for folks who are a bit lonely and have less frequent human interactions. For folks who are remotely located or retired and don't get out regularly. This could be a good companion to keep them engaged and less lonely until their next human interaction. The next step will be the ability to start the conversation without having to load the app and/or push a button. Similar to Google Assistant/Siri, etc. As poorly as the Humane AI pin has been reviewed, that tech plus GPT 4o capabilities would be much closer to an interactive companion. The ability to see the world and project back to you, ala, "let me show you" style would be incredibly interactive.

For all the comments about old v’s new models and picking on the reference to ‘Her’, what was interesting to me was the conversational way you were interacting with the system. Not the mechanics of it (ie text v’s direct speech recognition), but that you were actively teaching the system. Better than that, you were asking the system what it felt it needed to know about you in order for it to better assist you. I found it interesting that you thought of it that way, and fascinating that it was able to handle the interaction with apparent ease. For me, this is an interesting leap. It’s a step beyond teaching a child, or even using it for research (like you might a human librarian, eg “can you find me information on Photography?). This was much more like you were engaging a professional consultant who already has a significant knowledge of whatever field you may have, and tailoring their task to something specific to *you*. And *that* I find very cool indeed. Thanks for the video Jonny!

Yes i agree with you, i do not think people are aware of the power of this current version of ChatGPT, and yes very soon the natural human style conversation will get much better, faster and feel more like chatting with a colleague. As ChatGPT said in your video, it is transcribing your voice into text then tokens then processing and replying. The new voice version will be direct and take the audio, tone and emotion of your voice directly into the processing, so it will understand with much more clarity, what you are trying to say. It truly is a completely new way to interact with a system. I think everyone's mind will be blown over the next few months.

This isnt even the full multimodal version of 4o. You will be able to cut it off mid sentence. It will interpret sounds and background. It will sense your emotion.

I think a lot of people don’t realise that we are now waaaay past the old glorified autocomplete days of GPT3. With the amount of data this thing is training on, eventually a kind of understanding of that data “evolves”. Interwoven neural nets eventually become more than the sum of their parts imo. We live in interesting times…

I'm skeptical about the points made in this video, what's new about the A.I. voice feature is with its abilities like talking in accents, using emotive vocals, telling a story combining these things, etc... what's not new is answering questions or coming up with ideas about what one should do with their KZbin channel. You may be able to use it hands-free while driving or walking, but it doesn't change the fundamental types of questions or responses from the standard desktop text-based interface
@tttttt10007 ай бұрын
Has this changed for you at all? I was having similar types of conversations, quite interactive and picking up from previous chats that were in memory. All of a sudden, about a week ago, almost everything I had bookmarked and saved to memory was gone. As was the "personality" that seemed to have been honed over several months of these types of chains of conversations, just vanished. And now, it's completely different. Back to being very generic and not at all engaged or able to bookmark or save much of anything.

How many voice messages can it handle with a subscription? Before it asks to wait 3 hours (to restore tokens)? Is it possible to talk at least 30 min?

I just selected gpt-4o and started talking with it, so this isn’t the new one but it’s a new way of interacting for me.

With the need for more and more training data, the mere fact of people interacting with it like you are in this video is just feeding it more and more data, especially with the conversational style. These things are going to know more about humans than we ever thought possible. Good thing they are just mechanical prediction machines because if your wife or girlfriend falls asleep. imagine what a living person would go through having to listen to so much chatter of people suffering through existential crises day in and day out.

As of writing this it’s currently June 15th, 2024. Can someone explain. I have been hearing in a lot of youtube videos that Chat GPT 4 will be free. These videos were released about a month ago and in those videos they said it would take about A MONTH for it to be free. So far, nothing free shows on mine. When will it be free? Free on mobile or just computer?

Jonny, u said something key, that is, the interaction w AI's is not about what they say to u, but how you process and organize ur own thoughts.."it's therapy". AI's are able to listen attentively and give you feedback. Who does that anymore. Like flies to honey.

Thanks for demonstrating a human and A.I. interaction. I can see how easily one could be seduced into discussing personal or intimate details of their life with a somewhat non-judgemental AI, forgetting that it is connected bidirectionally to the web. The potential for cyber blackmail, financial crime, unauthorized information selling, and governmental intrusion is staggering. Uncharted territory for sure.

Wow this is a great experiment you did! Our relationship with AI is complicated to say the least. I'm very excited about the cool things AI promises but I'm also afraid of the negative side, especially when nefarious humans, especially corrupt governments, weaponize AI and point it back at us. Subbed!

I wonder how well the speaking style can be tweaked to different situations. Can it join you on a walk somewhere, recognise the landscape, then speak in the manner of a gentle local historian, offering tidbits of local history relevant to your personal interests? Can the AI shift between being agreeable to some other mood and back again? Can it display any subtlety in character and expression? We need examples and tests in many different situations so there could be infinite ways to play with this while helping (and entertaining) viewers

GPT4o - with voice input (rather than voice to text as shown in this video) - can you need to watch the OpenAI launch a few weeks ago to see how dynamic and expressive the voice can be, as well as the fact that it also accepts live video input from the phones camera.

2:58 I don’t care one bit about “companionship & support” from AI. I want to use the AI voice assistant for useful things, such as to help me with topics like *‘Algebra & Physics’.* I want the AI to understand how to accurately solve problems on these subjects, and show each of the steps in detail. Then I want the voice assistant to help me understand things better by guiding me on the parts of the problem where I am stuck. This would be one good use for AI. Another good use for AI would be to help me improve my *communication skills* by talking with me and giving me feedback on how to express my ideas better, and how to improve my conversation skills (e.g., speaking more clearly, being more concise, avoiding rambling & filler words, learning to be more witty, expressing emotions better, etc.). AI would be good for practicing communication.
