Humber Howk police patrol car. Restoration of Dinky Toys model no. 256.

The Dinky company produced the Humber Hawk police car version from 1960 to 1964. It was a model equipped with a glass and interior. It also included wheel suspension. My model had a cracked glass, different tires, and, as befits a long-time toy, its paint was very damaged. In the video I show how I perform all the repairs, including the upgrade by installing crystal headlights. To complete the full picture of the renovation, I also made a cardboard box similar to the original one. Thank you for watching the video, I publish car repair videos on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Maestro! Another wonderful restoration! I noticed that you drew a circle and added corner drops to secure the glass this time, rather than the big glob in the center. The interiors in Corgi cars are notoriously fragile and your repair was seamlessly executed. The one glaring thing with this quite refined model is the absurd out of scale antenna! A Superb Restoration. My teacher at school in 1970s had a Humber Super Snipe. The fuel tank filler was hidden in the tail lights.

Excellent restoration! It looks quite simple when you look at the result but it takes a lot of work to get there. That's a really nice Humber now 👌🏻👍🏻👏🏻 Incidentally, that was the first model that I restored when I changed from Matchbox to Corgi/Dinky models......

The Hawk is a nice casting - I have done two Code3 cars but would love to get 'police car' interiors for them, as the non-Police units had glass but no interior. You made a really nice job of that one! I think the original toy had "Town & Country" pattern tyres all round. You'd be hard pushed to find a real Hawk Police car with yellow interior, mind you! With or without the Hobbits!

I thought for a long time whether I should copy this interior because it was made of thin but quite stiff plastic and I liked it. the police busts were also in good condition. I guess I'll have to copy them for backup. Kind regards

What sheet did you use to make the windshield and how you managed to make new wheels ? Edit: Where you got the MM 940 molding silicone ? where to get the polyurethane for the tyre ? whats the composition to make one ?

I made the glass from 0.5 mm thick plastic, you can buy molding silicone mm940 online, just like molding polyurethane. You just need to remember that it should have a shore hardness of 70 or more. Kind regards
