back during the plandemic lockdown I was talking with an Iranian guy and the conversation moved to the cars made in Iran,the paykan, which was Farsi for Arrow. He showed me vids of Paykan owners club rallies in Tehran on his phone. The next week he turned up here with his pride and Joy, a Scepter which would have been the twin to that rusty thing. Living here in Australia means it wasn't rusty ,despite the vinyl top which almost always caused rust.

This was th3 up market Hillman Super Minx. Very svelt!
@cwt56542 ай бұрын
@@glynluff2595This version was the upmarket variant of the Arrow (Hunter) series introduced in 1966. The Super Minx was the previous generation though the Sceptre variant from that era was substantially different.
@glynluff25952 ай бұрын
@ Ah! Not seen the Hunter version of the shell in the flesh. Currently own a 66 Super Minx which looks similar with flat rear screen. I was surprised the chassis was so stiff on the valances as the door sag seems to be hinge or A post related. As a matter of interest as no factory can tell me was the hydraulic clutch cct on the 1725 engine 3/16 pipe or 1/4. Mine was a muddle and replaced the pipes with 3/16 to new master and slave but it still seems to fade in operation although much better. As the exhaust heats the slave so you cannot touch it after a long run I wondered on replacing with a larger pipe might cure it.

My dad had a 'Grasshopper Green' one, and it was, indeed, a lovely car. I drove it on many occasions; the overdrive on 3rd and top...just great! The spiritual successor to the MG Magnette of the '50s and Riley 1.5 of the '60s...

That front wing looks like it's pretty new. Some good spares to be harvested from this. The dashboard clocks for starters. By God did they rust though. I had a Hunter GT, A Hunter GLS, a Rapier H120 plus several other Rapiers. Loved em all esp the H120.

My late father had two of these. The first was a 1970 H-plate and he replaced it with a 1976 P-plate. I liked them both, especially the overdrive on 3rd & top. The 1970 model had happy memories for me as he loaned it to me to take my girlfriend on holiday to Cornwall. We've now been married for 45 years! I hope this one can be restored.

@@devonstable9913 My late grandfather owned a '74 'M' plate Sceptre when it would have been a couple of years old. He'd retired to South Devon and about the only time he got to use the overdrive locally was on the straight at Torcross. The reg prefix was RAE and a beige colour with light coloured interior, immaculate of course as were all his cars. 🙂

Always amazes me this. Owner could have sold it 20 years ago when it was still intact and worth something. If you haven't done anything with a car for 5 years then you're never going to. That's my philosophy
