Hunting Pythons On Python Island Part 1. Today Ally and I are going out to python island to hunt pythons. I was out here awhile back with the crew from Swamp People and I took a few mental notes on some good spots to come back to once its breading season for the pythons. I know these islands have pythons on them and I'm gonna catch them!

The heat and humidity of Florida would kill me. I am used to the low humidity of Colorado and our heat is a "dry heat" haha. It DOES make a difference. Also, our invasive species are things like New Zealand mudsnails, Zebra and Quagga Mussels, fish such as carp, some birds, and several plants like Russian Olive, Knapweed and Canadian Thistle. The mussels are a particular problem that get spread by boats that don't clean bilge tanks and even foot waders that aren't disinfected. The Division of Wildlife will fine those that don't clean their boats properly before introducing it to another waterway or lake.

Hi from way up north in nice cold python free Canada :) I can spot an owl pellet instantly, but I wonder how you so quickly ID'ed that massive turd as from a snake unless there was something that didn't quite come across on the video for me. Was that a beak in there? You mentioned feathers too? Thanks, I'm sure you've got plenty better things to do but I was just wondering about s**t, you know. Literally. :) Don't want to say it keeps me awake and why would I still be wondering about cold wet snake turds 6000 miles away a week later, but life has questions. This is one.

I get the working your butt off for peanuts thing, but having made good money on the commercial industrial side, I can tell you there's a definite trade-off between having money and the stress involved in earning it and working hard for less with little stress. Not that there isn't stress in the struggle, but I prefer peace of mind and the outdoors; wealth sows it's own kind of struggle.
@PythonCowboy
@PythonCowboy 4 жыл бұрын
Rich Gran I assure you there is no lack of stress here brother haha but I’ll never complain because I truly love what I do and am excited to see what each day brings. But I do stress because it all hangs by a thread and keeping this operation going is a struggle every single day. I also stress because of the work I’m doing, ALOT can go wrong and it’s all on my shoulders if it does. Not 100% I understood your comment correctly but that’s my response to it lol 🤷🏻‍♂️

@dirtbag4761
@dirtbag4761 4 жыл бұрын
Mike I was going to suggest the same thing. A drone would cover far more ground than what can be walked. You would just need a way to dark room the screen so that these shiny spots can be spotted easy.
@PythonCowboy
@PythonCowboy 4 жыл бұрын
Mike Phillips yes in some places I’d be able to use a drone with special permissions but they would be too hard to spot like that to make it worth it I think. Might be worth a shot but don’t believe it would help that much

Python Cowboy that seems fair. It’s for my friend. I don’t own any snakes, but the past year I’ve studied and researched and watched numerous videos about them. And I fell in love with the western hog nose snake. I paid a guy for one and named him Dingo after Dingo Dinkleman. Well long story short, he ripped me off and once my Facebook almost 5,000 followers started telling him he needed to return the money, well he went dark. I can’t afford to buy another because I’m disabled. I mean I can walk around but have epilepsy and gastroperesis. So I always have a feeding tube. Well my friend Brandon said he would get me one if I could find him some Burmese pythons. So u are about as honest and hard working as they come. Send me a message via messenger. My page name is Lesley King Bailey from Kentucky. U will know it’s me by my service dog who is white with his vest on, and I have a tube in my nose after my last tube in my stomach was infected. So this one is temporary until I heal. Anyhow, sorry to bore u with details. Just wanted u to know it was definitely me. I have photos of dogs and my kitty and pets in need in every photo. Thanks so so much for answering me.

THOMAS W SILVA the state currently does not allow state contracts to use dogs to hunt pythons but ive been working on getting that changed this last 3 years and I’m finally gaining traction. I use dogs to hunt and remove all other Invasives and it only makes sense to use them for pythons... I’m currently training 2 dogs for this but still waiting on permission from the state to actually use them out in the field, off private property. You can watch my KZbin showing the dogs!

Why do you try to catch the python by hand why can you not shoot it in place?
@PythonCowboy
@PythonCowboy 4 жыл бұрын
Gt7 cuppels I can shoot them if I really wanted but I don’t for many reasons, the main being: I make use of their skull and skin, both of which I don’t want to damage. It’s not always easy to get a clear shot directly at their small brain, which if not hit perfectly the python will most likely disappear into thick brush/water because they are seriously the toughest creature I’ve ever encountered. They don’t die lol. I’m also usually out there for 3-7 or even more days at a time, sleeping in the swamp, and it wouldn’t be easy keeping dead pythons fresh. Also truth be told I put in ALOT of work finding these pythons and I absolutely love handling them, I’ve loved snakes my entire life. I also enjoy the thrill of wrestling with them. Once I have my hand on a python, it ain’t going anywhere... can’t say the same while using a gun. They normally will lie still thinking they are camoflauged and knowing they have no predators, allowing for me to grab them before they decide to move or fight me.

Rich Allison lots of reasons, many of which I’m sure you realize.... most people hate snakes and most people love cats, a lot easier to get approval and support for such a cause. Also these pythons are inside and around a national park, where nothing was being done about them. There are things being done about feral cats, many of which are supported by the state in one way or another. I agree more needs to be done though. Feral cats are mostly in city limits so it’s a whole different game.

@@PythonCowboy Yes . Feral cats are not found and therefore not a problem in the national parks , just the snakes .

There you go, stupid. Run your outboard out of the water and it takes less than a minute to burn up your water pump. We love people that do what you do.
