Husband and Wife Felling a Large Pine - Too Close for Comfort!

Dave and Kie have decided that the White Pine beside their new self-built homestead is too close for comfort. With all of the wind storms of late, it was time to get it down.

Well, at least the dog was not worried😅 What a cool dog♥️ Using a line on leaning trees is smart. Sometimes you also need to set up a second line 90 degrees to the direction you want the tree to fall. Good planing usually saves the day, and so you guys did, kudos👍

I have watched all of your videos - started on the Alaskan mill as am planning to get one right now to make use of the pine on our farm. Just have to say that your instructions and videos are second to none that have found. Particularly like the way you manage the logs without any machine lifting - all by hand. Thanks for taking the time to make these, really appreciated from NZ.

Many years ago I had a limb about 1" diameter hit my head while limbing a tree and I no longer work around trees without a hard hat...and my helpers also. I'm a safety nut so I have to mention that those chaps don't work when the saw is chest high. Good job and now I can breath again.

Really interesting video. I've never seen chainsaw milling so will have to check out your full video on that. My favorite part? The hanging crunches on the scaffolding, "is this stable?" 😅

Amazing job guys. Great felling job. Good bunch of firewood. Anything straight enough for lumber. Great example of pulley usage

Not a lot of straight, clean lumber, but we've saved three limbs to do some milling (probably woodshed siding, or other lower quality stuff). And we definitely want to do something with the main trunk, still trying to decide what!
