I have a theory that the husky is teaching the shiba how to fend off predators. Notice how the husky retreats when the shiba bites him when in fact, the husky could easily overpower the other. Furthermore, I think that by retreating, the husky is teaching self-confidence to the shiba

Pfttt shibas don’t need to know self-confidence. They’re very ferocious and are actually pretty brave for small dogs. They usually never back down and are really stubborn. That’s why you should never adopt one as a beginner. Plus a lot of them are like that when they’re born.

bitch wtf that's a little off. They are aware of their Size, but they suffer the same issue as human toddlers where they don't understand the endurance of various things even if they have interacted before. So unless they see a item bending paper, wood and rock are all equally durable in their eyes. They also suffer the same "retention of mass" issue young children have, where even if a certain CUP has more volume inside, the taller cup always has more. That said the play style is actually fairly common in Huskies they play that way with any dog....they also tend to fight other dogs in a similar manner, pulling back and then going up under the jaw if they are below. But for play this way is incredibly fun, if a human wrestles them it gets rough as they will keep bouncing on you. While slap play, tag, or g Doggy play this leads to plenty of tag running where they a attack, then chase and go back and forth like that.

My Huskies are/were the same with small dogs - on the cautious side, no full on play. Igloo wouldn’t play with a young lab puppy, but loved her big brother, a lab. He wouldn’t play with the cute mutt puppy next door either, not until they grew larger, but still not hardcore Husky play due to their size.
