How about instead of taking it all apart you just use tiny needle nose pliers and pull up the rubber grommet and then replace it the same way. I did it on my 455 rancher and it was way easier than taking the entire thing apart. But you know thats just me i guess. I replaced my fuel lines using nothing more than needle nose pliers. I guess people like doing things the hard way. I like easy and simple. In fact i just got finished replacing a fuel line and my primer bulb this morning. All i did was unscrew the cover then removed the air filter then used my needle nose pliers and its all good now. Very simple fix. I didn't have to tear the entire thing apart. Just saying folks. This is a good video for a tear down though. It teaches you how to pull it out and take it apart. Just try it with pliers first. If you can't get it done then do it this way. Either way it still gets the job done.

Glad I seen this comment, there was literally no reason to take the whole thing apart like that. The hardest part is actually getting the carb back on the with the gaskets and all the linkage

Ive found if you spray 100 percent silicone spray on hose and grommet it provides lubricity and makes everything go together easier. The silicone wont in any way degrade or erode the rubber.

Same part number bushing fits Poulan PR4218 with a fuel line equivalent likely for LP-1200 type Tygon ALR00165. There were not Tygon part numbers visible on the factory supplied OEM fuel line that was 3 years old and may have faded. The old OEM fuel line maybe was the similar but not as good LP-1100 type line but the better grade immersion rated LP-1200 line was used as a replacement. A softer more flexible non laminated less durable line was OEM on purge bulb and the return line opening on the tank was too small to accept the same line as used for the fuel line and did have a snug but manageable fit through the fuel tank bushing grommet. Using the smooth shank of a drill bit the OEM hole for the return line was a snug fit on an 11/64" twist bit and by hand the bit shank was twisted back and forth to burnish the plastic until the fit was free. A folding Torx key set from Autozone had a T-25 key that was .175" in diameter and this likewise was used to burnish out the hole in plastic by turning it by hand, back and forth until it turned freely. The tip of a 5/16" twist drill was by hand lightly used to very slightly chamfer the opening. To finish resizing the fuel return line opening, a T-25 multi-bit for a Titan multi-bit set from Autozone was used for final burnishing of the opening. The T-25 bit measured .177 tapering to .180 as a sort of bugle shape and these steps of burnishing the plastic and slightly enlarging the opening made possible to use the same higher quality but less flexible LP-1200 line for both the purge bulb and fuel pickup lines to simplify service in the future using the better than OEM fuel line and making one size do. Service life for the LP-1200 line is at least 3 years using non-ethanol gasoline. Purge bulb replacements can reuse the old lines if the lines still have plenty of service life left. As an alternative to the method I used for resizing the opening a #1 Tapered Reamer for Taper Pins has the correct sizing profile but I misplaced mine and improvised.

The video was the best quality of any I've seen on chainsaw repair. I have a 455 rancher and it leaks fuel when I tip it on its side to load more fuel or oil. Doesn't leak sitting upright. Runs great. Does this sound like a grommet issue?

*At apprx the 1:55 mark in the video, where he "removes the 4 screws that mount the carbuerator", What screwdriver is needed plz? I'm having a hard time even "seeing the four screws" that he removes in the fast fwd as he's backing them out.

Great Video! What goes in the empty fuel tank bushing next to the gas line? Is it the out line to the purge bulb? Or is it some type of breather opening? Thanks

Yes the outline goes into the other hole through the other grommet otherwise it will leak and will not start. Yeah the video is missing that part.
