I recently bought my first car and had to search real hard for something with the amount of cargo area I needed to fit a wheelchair. Not exclusively a wagon thing by any means, but wagons definitely tend to tick that box in a way that a lot of modern crossover SUVs don't. I ended up with an old Outback and I feel so fortunate to have come across it!

Don't forget the Mazda 6 wagon!

The Golf MK8 is not very successful in Australia, which is the main reason for its end locally. The Skoda Octavia wagon is believed to remain thanks to its high proportion in Skoda's lineup. Also, Cupra is proposing to introduce the Leon SportsTourer, which is a Golf-like wagon. That being said, it's the defeat of Golf only, not the whole wagon shape. Not to mention that some Japanese manufacturers are still making great wagons, and they still dominate a fair share in their lineups.
@zacdizon88 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, the MK8 is a lower value proposition in relation to the usual inflated prices, lower build quality/cost savings & poorer user interface when compared to the previous generation. Being an owner of an MK7.5 Golf and MK3 Skoda Octavia I saw the MK8 as a step back for consumers.

Can you tell me which Japanese wagons you are thinking about? Cuz I can only think of Suabru and Mazda 6 ( which most likely there won't be a new gen).
@acde9355 Жыл бұрын
@@Ali-yj6pl Yes, Subaru Outback, WRX wagons, and the Mazda 6 wagon. They are some sort of old friends, but they're still competitive.

@acde9355 Yes, sad there won't be a new mazda6 that will leave us with Subaru as only Japanese wagons! A Mazda 6 with new 3.3 V6 in CX60 would have been mad thou!!

Watching from the UK. Love your content. It does surprise me, given the amount of engineering effort that goes into making a car right hand drive, that manufactures then limit sales into those markets. Some models / specs that you know we get in the UK that would likely sell well in Oz and NZ and yet they’re not available. Different markets, I know, but still. I hope we get a decent spread of the new Mazda SUV range that you guys are getting. They seem to be really on top of their game right now.

The Mazda still offers the 6 in a wagon turbo and N/A. Ok the infotainment is a bit dated but some people aren’t tech enthusiasts but refer a car that does what it does.

That’s right. I am looking for station wagon in the market but it’s very few options available. Definitely car companies aim to move to suv or hatchback hybrid suv only. The ceiling of SW is m3 touring and hoping the demand and desire from buyers to be able to persuade car companies continue offering SW in the future

What? No more wagons? That's really sad :c SUVs are taller, they don't have more space necessarily (As proved by the M3 Touring vs the X3 M)

I used to hate wagon. Nowdays i love quite a few of them. In diesel form, and awd. There is nothing you cant do. I love the q5. Its a car that can di much more thzn you think. But i d recomment either either go for the sq5( dieael opefferably, or like it did because budget is a thing, previous gen facelift audi q5 s line 3.0 tdi with a dsg trans and a few oem plus mods.

Not sure what you’re trying to say…? I couldn’t get the spec that I wanted or the price I wanted for Golf R Wagon or Octavia RS Wagon when I got my GTI, hence why I didn’t go with the wagon.

Wagons are my strong preference over SUVs. We have a 2003 Forester XT, Mazda 6 2.5 T wagon and just sold our Passat VR6 wagon. SUVs are boring and I cannot understand Australia’s obsession.
@dd4886 Жыл бұрын
With the exception of a few, modern station wagons are just too low to the ground! There's no point in buying a family wagon which scrapes it's bottom in and out from your driveway when it's loaded with he family and the goodies. SUVs offer all the benefits and none of the drawbacks of a station wagon maybe except for the driving dynamics. Then again, you don't buy a family car for driving dynamics either and the modern adaptive suspension in SUVs have come a long way in improving the handling.
@iliastsiphlidis4607 Жыл бұрын
Why is it that Australian consumers do not buy wagons any longer? Mostly marketing bs from the car companies as SUV are usually higher margin vehicles that offer less space, less practicality overall, less safe, and invisibly are less fun to drive. Boggles my mind but it is the lay of the land, it will change when this country actually does introduce emission legislation, which hopefully will make Utes and SUV more expensive to maintain.

When talking about the Audi Q5 PHEV, the Lexus NX450h+ wasn’t mentioned. Also, as a consumer, a massive reason I will never buy Tesla is Elon Musk. No other car company has an owner who is such a massive brand turn off.
