Could not agree more these tests are rubbish as the testers want what they want not ehat consumers want and what if someone wants a slower car or 1 with a little less space so what the consumers will pick what their cash goes on

In other car shows, they'd take the cars through all the tests, and compare the results in the end (on a whiteboard, with some silly scores added to the mix). You know you're doing it seriously wrong when even Clarkson, Hammond, and May's methodology is more scientifically accurate than yours! 🙄 At least CH&M are honest when they're introducing bias ("I know this car is better, but I prefer that one. And on that bombshell...")

It takes 20 seconds to set the seat and steering wheel on Peugeots to see the dials perfectly over the top of the wheel. These guys didn't bother to do that.

I am one of those people that loves their steering wheels as high as they can be. I don't have any problem with having my new peugeot's steering wheel low down, even tho I still make any other in any other car as high as it can go.

At the end of the day, for the price you pay, Skoda wins hands down and for those of you who are old enough(like significant greying or baldness)would ever have thought they would buy a skoda after seeing the 100 or 110. Love my 4x4 Superb estate

The second I saw the 508 in the line up, I knew they would dismiss it for arbitrary reasons. And I was not disappointed. They are badge snobs and can't allow a Peugeot to be better than the badge snob favourites. The VW was louder than the Peugeot. The instrument proved it. But because they FELT it wasn't, that was alright? Not really a fair test then, is it? If you arbitrarily change the goal posts. It takes about a minute, maybe 30 seconds to adjust the driving position and wheel in the 508. They just didn't bother because they were not going to give the 508 a fair go anyway. Calling it louder than the VW, despite evidence to the contrary just proves the bias. A proper test relies on repeatable metrics. You test ALL cars the same way and score them on the same metrics. Arbitrarily deciding on a personal hate or love is not a proper test.

@@bmused55 With wat, peugeot will start to fall apart with time unfortunately and didn't drive as well, most importantly arteon is huge and has smaller boot and less space than skoda with exactly the same parts under the bonnet so no point either. Bmw is much more expensive and even lost on track so clear win for the skoda in everything.

It’s not really a fair test when you decide the winner from the start. Why did the BMW not get multiple runs and why was it stated that it wasn’t being driven flat out? Skoda is a super car but this is more of an advertisement than a true comparison.

Just made the test myself and indeed Octavia is faster and very easy to drive.

The steering wheel is perfectly fine for long relaxing driving. If your drives are not relaxing then please don’t drive at all and get into your chesterfield sofa that’s stuck in your staircase. Besides the Peugeot seats are one of the best in category. The noise? It was 69 db, like the other two and one was louder so what was your point? And it has a great amount of space, like the others. As for the driving test, many motor journalists gave it a positive score. Not that is something to write home about it but very decent. And then the exterior design is the nicest of the bunch. Sorry not sorry but you failed the test and get a F (grade) not just by me.

Agreed. They didnt spend the 60 seconds needed to adjust the seat and steering wheel. And calling it louder when ther own test proved otherwise was just simply a bias thing. They are badge snobs and just could not allow a Peugeot to get any further than last place against all those badge snob favourites. A proper test would have all cars go through the same tests and be marked on exactly the same measures, not an arbitrary and personal dislike of something.

I don't understand their methodology... They eliminate cars one by one based on some random criteria? So let's say you have a very good car but you judge it on its one weak point at the beginning, so it gets eliminated in the first round? That makes absolutely no sense! Maybe they had their verdict sorted before even editing the video, but the way they present it is really bad. I'm sorry, but that's one DISLIKE from me (sounds unfair? Well, not nearly as unfair/biased as their methodology for choosing a car...)

Oh wait, actually I remember I don't care, as long as it's not a Peugeot" 🙄). Their approach is biased: change the criteria, and the results can be widely different. Why not simply run the cars through all the criteria and then decide? (or let the audience decide for themselves).

Agreed. I have one, albeit the GT Fastback, non hybrid. It blows anyone's mind who gets in it. I got it detailed by a local expert who gets work from Porsche, Ferrari and even Bentley owners. He picked it up and dropped it off for me. Told me that if he had been in it with the badges removed and without knowing it was a peugeot, he could have sworn he was in a £50K plus premium brand car. Peugeot have really turned a corner and doing good work.

Peugeot actually sent a few 508s over to the USA as they had planned to start selling it there. I've seen video of people getting in it and looking around, everyone was surprised by its looks and its quality. Many said they'd buy one if they could. Don't discount it just because it is French.
