Actually, on some vehicles it does matter whether the vehicle is turned off or not when you plug anything into the obd port. I've seen vehicles fry the second a device was plugged in, because the vehicle was running. THERES A REASON THEY TELL YOU TO MAKE SURE YOU TURN THE VEHICLE OFF WHENEVER PLUGGING INTO OR UNPLUGGING ANY DEVICE INTO OBD2 PORT.

For ordinary users, Bluetooth OBD scanners are more suitable. They can also do full-system diagnosis and also provide special tools like Reset BLEED, Reset TBMS, Reset TDPF, Reset Oil, Immobilizer/Keys and so on. EZcheck and EasyDiag are both good choice.

hello, yes you're right. These Bluetooth models are pretty comprehensive. The best one I've had was the 100 dollar blue driver model.

hey buddy! Yes, you can clear codes with this, just like any other OBD2 scanner. This does not scan the ABS system, those scanners are typically way more expensive than the basic OBD2 style ones. You generally need a way more high end one, and they will still sometimes not work on German cars.

@@80thsrockRetro80thsvibes i just checked the entire amazon listing for this item again, and there is no mention of any "ABS" or brake system checks. Generally you will notice that more high end ones (over 100 bucks) make claims about working with ABS systems and such. I don't think aps will change the functionality anyway. Most abs faults come down to a bad ABS sensor. I don't worry bout ABS much because it's not part of the local inspection requirements here in NYC. They only test the OBD-2 system and the readiness monitors here.

Question, my ELM327 arrived in ADHOC mode (stupid) for 6 years i would use it searching non stop for an STN or Infrastructre mode or Version of the product, one day i decided to see if port 80 is open , it was (HTTP GUI), i switched it to Station mode, i entered SSD, Encryption (WPA2PSK CCMP) and the key ( even kept a screen shot) the ELM327 connects a few seconds to the AP and disconnects. I made sure the AP is set to the same Encryption type, and key... I even set a static/Fixed in the ELM327 .. Any tips? The unit is close to AP, tried many APs, legacy, wrt54g, dd-wrt. different channels. no go . tHANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Hello, I used to have a BlueDriver scan tool, made a video about it too. It's around 100 bucks total which includes their very good app. You're basically paying for the app. You could buy this one or any OBD2 model and buy cheaper apps that will have very similar capability.

hello, Ive done a video on the BlueDriver previous. Check out this link to my video. It was alot more expensive to buy, but it came with the necessary software. hey buddy! These types of OBD-2 devices do not work on back-up camera infotainment screens. They run only on dedicated IOS or ANDROID devices. Unless your car has some type of built in WI-FI and an internet connection using some third party player, then you need to use a phone to run this.

hey man, thats a code for one of the oxygen sensors. I am not 100% sure which, you need to get the code and show it to auto zone. Although be prepared for the oxygen sensors to not fix your issue. Sometimes the entire exhaust system is old and the cat converter is bad and clogged. IF it smells like sulfur (rotten eggs) from your exhaust that is an indicator that your cat converts are bad. The oxygen sensor could fix the issue though,

hey buddy! Are you sure the one you are using is for android phones? The one I have is for IOS systems. I've noticed many of these OBD2 scanners are usually either Apple or Android compatible. If possible try to use another device. Maybe an iPad. It's got to Link to one system or the other.

hey, it can hit your leg. It's not that big of a deal, worst case scenario you can get a 5-7 dollar OBD-2 cable extender. This will let you place the scan tool anywhere while you drive.

hey buddy! This is an OBD-2 scan tool, it is not a remote-start system. You could get a remote start system installed in any modern car, that is not an issue. Generally most audio shops will do this for around 3-4 hundred bucks on average. This scan tool can check and clear any engine codes, this item will work for this purpose only.

hello, it's fine when it's connected, no issues. Do you mean if you leave it in the car then turn the car off and try to use if again after? In that case, you gotta connect to the app each time you turn the ignition to the OFF position.

no, there is no power going to the OBD2 port when your car is off. But I don't know why you would want to do that, no benefit at all.

hello, yes you can leave it plugged in. IT will only illuminate a single red LED, when plugged it. Doesn't mean it will be linked, unless you actually open the OBD-2 app on your phone and press connect.

They are correct for the most part. But if you use an OBD2 wire extender or it's just not in the way, whats the difference. Kind of a silly and uneducated blanket statement they made to you. You asked if it can be left plugged in, I said YES. I didn't say it will be comfortable or you should. Its as if they used it on a single car and made their claim based on the location in that one car. HAHAHAHA.

hey buddy! At the 1:17 timestamp you can see I am using the app "Auto Doctor" and I said I'm using it. BTW, I don't stress which app it is because there are many "free" and "lite" versions that will work with any OBD2 bluetooth scanner, you know. You just gotta make sure to get a proper IOS or Android model. The one I'm using is IOS compatible. All the free ones generally have the same basic info, which is adequate.

hello, I did not see any trans coolant temp using this with the free app. Chances are with the paid version of the app that will be available. These OBD-2 devices all mostly display the same type of data with the premium paid apps.

nope, it cannot. Those types of scanners are completely different from these style ones. They tend to be specialized and hard to come by, not like a common OBD-2 system.

Hey man. I would say you shpuld be with 15 feet, this is just a basic bluetooth connection and will work as any other in terms of signal strength. Ur mostly slways going to be in or around your car anyway, so range should not be a problem mostly.

hi!. Yes it does work well enough. You can check your basic OBD 2 systems and readiness monitors. This demo was just using the free apps available anywhere, if you pay a few bucks for the full versions you can get very detailed realtime data. For an under 15 dollar item, it works well.
