I've played a fireball/orb hybrid for years. The introduction of sunder charms adds a bonus. Using the cold sunder comes in handy not for the damage, but to chill the cold immunes to slow them down. I usually open up with an orb then fireball while they are chilled. Max orb and 1 point in cold mastery, then max fball and all it's synergies. The best part, you don't need bis gear to be effective with this build. You should try this build out if haven't.

You were hard pressed to find an old school build. No one enjoyed the super slow cast on Hydra. D2R fixed it enough to bring some enjoyment. So praise to the people in the old school sticking with super slow hydras.

It's just annoying to go out and find you can't harm everything in the zone and have to try to run to find something you can kill. Course D3 has it's own problems. But it's a cursed day to me as the power went out and my comp went with it lol

Same for me. Took me forever to beat hell with my orb/wall build. Now I have some better gear and can farm andy, meph, pindle, pits, tunnels, tombs etc pretty easy. Diablo and baal are extremely slow. Gonna try this build cause firewall is too hard to aim on console . Good luck to you

I almost always make a MF dual spec sorc when I start a new char without a sunder. Almost always blizz/fireball though. Easy enough to solo complete hell at ~lvl 80 to get into terror zones. But this is nostalgia gameplay at its finest lol. Something satisfying seeing hydras and orbs on the screen.

This build works fairly way to get you through the game especially hardcore, orb always melts nightmare and hydras shoot off screen which is great! Worth mentioning the synergy bonus is multiplicative meaning if hydra is 500dmg mastery is 100% the synergy bonus is 3% of the overall damage not just 3% to base damage. Its why things like lightning and pure fireball can get crazy damage

I play single player on xbox one and this build is really good for how the console controls are. Your end game skill tree is basically my main. I dont have infinity but it still works great. I do p3 for most stuff fine.

Probably mostly for the ability to teleport without need of enigma. All builds become so fun with you can just shoot around. I’ve been playing poison necro this season. Something about the nova then watching bodies drop instantly with either CE or the nova itself is so satisfying. And when I’m able to get enigma ( just need the lucrative jah) I can only imagine how much more fun it’ll be

This was the go to ladder start for a classic rushing sorc. Only struggles with Travincal which you can do but not fun.. No baal Q, and then you have a glitch Q to sell for FG on d2jsp. Ah the good old days.

When I first started D2R single players and got everything I felt I could get from Meph and Andy, I did an Orb/FB sorc to go farming high level areas. I maxed orb, ice bolt and 1 CM. all the 1 hit wonders and rest into FB. FB is fairly strong even without the maxed synergies but ofc orb was lacking even with the skill maxed so I used primarly cold sorc gear to help boost orb damage as time went on, as I found Dfathom/Nightwings and cold skillers. So most things died fairly fast even on P3. On P7, I had to use static to keep my kill speed up. with all the + skill gear, static was off the screen so I tele around, toss out 3 statics and jump in to start orbing and FBing. it worked well. was my primary MFer till I was able to make Inigma and start rocking a Hdin for chaos and singer builds for pits.

My preferred sorceress build that can do the whole game, farm torches, plus kill all bosses with relative ease. Frozen orb with Nova. Max frozen orb and 5 points into cold mast. Max nova, max lightning mast, max static. It’s much more effective than the hydras I promise

Hybrid builds are redundant once a sunder charm is obtained, so basically their only useful for a playthrough. Nova requires u to tank damage, which is just not happening with junk gear. Hydra / orb is the goat of a first playthrough cause not only do both skills allow you to stay at a safe range, but both can essentially be used simultaneously given hydras continue to attack after casted.

I do this in classic but prefer firewall in the expac because the mercs are way better at tanking. But I really only use it when rushing characters through NM CS for De Seis.

I always find it weird what youtubers call budget builds. You can go an entire ladder season without finding a Shaco. Also everything presented is perfect. Perfect vipermagi, perfect spirit monarch.

Shako is easy. Surely you can find something to trade for one. I’ve never gone a season without finding a shako. Its value goes down and it’s even easier to trade for several weeks into a season as people find a bunch. Vipermagi doesn’t matter if it’s perfect. Spirit can be continuously rerolled til you get a high roll. Perfect isn’t necessary. The runes are cheap.

@@hanson544 vipermagi perfect roll is on its resists which is the most important stat. I don't see a point to playing on bnet when day 2 of any ladder season you already have the ability to buy every rune you want for $0.75 and every other lobby you enter there's someone with enigma. I play single player. If I want a shaco I grind for an actual shaco. The rarity level on these items is very high. When you call a build budget because it hits your resist values and fcr breakouts, but doing so requires not just finding the item but finding it a dozen times over before it rolls perfect, it's not exactly budget. This is just a good build. Not budget.

@@TheDOSGamer Disagree. Vipermagi is not an expensive item. Even a minimum roll of 20% all resist is useful. Perfect anything is obviously the most valuable and more expensive than something that's not. You're statistically more likely to find one that's around 28 allres, which is objectively a good stat. Only reason you'd complain is that you didn't roll an even better one. It's the combination of skills, absurd 30% FCR (IMO this is the most important stat), and all resist that makes it ideal for a caster Sorc. You can use dumb common charms to patch up your resists as you need them but you can't get FCR. Spirit has a very narrow FCR variation of only 10%. It's not like it's bad when you roll 20%. It's still a million times better than no Spirit and it's easy and consistent to obtain even in single player. If it bugs you so much, just reroll it, the runes are dirt cheap and common to get. The average roll is 25% FCR. Unless you're rolling to reach a specific breakpoint, it doesn't really matter. He doesn't need to equip items with the worst rolls for it to be budget. Especially since you play single player anyway, it's literal RNG when you identify the item. Literally just moat trick Mephisto in nightmare for a few days and you'll probably have a Vipermagi, which is better than everything else by far even with the worst resist roll, until you get to high end runewords. The most important breakpoint is 105 in order to have an acceptable teleport. 30% from Vipermagi, 20% from 2 rings, 20% from worst Spirit weapon, 20% from worst Spirit shield, 20% from Magefist. That's 110. Easily. The Spirit rolls barely matter. And if you find some replacement like Oculus for Spirit weapon, that's 30% FCR and it doesn't affect you much when you have a low shield roll. Too weak to do hell Meph? You can use Lore helm, Smoke or Stealth armor, a crafted caster belt, Suicide Branch, etc. and just run nightmare Meph for a few days and you'll have everything except Shako.

@@TheDOSGamer You're not playing very much if you spend an entire season to get this. I can get most of this gear consistently within the first 3 weeks of any ladder. My first character is always a Sorceress to do Meph runs. I can complete hell and start doing hell Baal within a few days at most. Then run nightmare or hell Mephisto depending on what I have by then. By the end of the second week if I've actually been playing, I'm comfortably able to do hell Mephisto and I'll have found the gear if not items to trade up to them. The high runes are the real endgame, along with GG uniques like SOJ, good skillers with secondary stat, Griffon's, Death's Fathom, Rainbow Facets, and good small charms. Everything below best in slot is mostly budget. If you find one of these when you're not completely geared you can easily get the entire loadout by trading it, which is a good idea because it's better to be fully geared ASAP so you can find more stuff. It should not be taking you 6 months to get a Shako and an Oculus. I have not spent a cent buying any items in this game ever since LOD came out.

I tried this a few ladders ago, but was very dissatisfied with hydra, unless you have fairly good equipment already hydra does too little dmg for clear since it splits damage a lot.. ended up relying on merc to hold ppl and firewall, which kills waay quicker in most scenarios aside bosses. I always do stuff like this since i play solo self found for the most part 👍

Infinity = Ber mal Ber ist or blizzard + Cold sunder charm + Max Cold Mastery Both will have roughly same clear speed but please dont invest in all of that gear just to make orb work. there are far more effective and cheaper options available to you. If you got all the way to infinity you might aswell just wear it and play nova and just do this 10x better anyway.

i tried the build before but orb is useless after players 3. Blizzard Hydra is much more effective and can do players 8. Putting points also into fireball gives more damage to hydra...fireball (8)/fire mastery (5) is more damage than fireball (1) / fire mastery (12) edit. Tho i have to admit frozen orb looks pretty cool

You can solo normal Nightmare and Hell /players 1 with Hydra / Orb build with budget gear. For Softcore: 20 Frozen Orb + 20 IceBolt + Cold Mystery is the fastest. You can reach level 75 in NM Baal /players 4 with budget/low gear, FAST. For Hardcore: 20 Frozen Orb + 20 Blizzard + Cold Mystery (Does alot more damage than 20 Orb + 20 bolt in Hell, also alot safer) and Mana Shiled + Telekinessis and max your block to %75. Can clear /players1 2 and 3 Hardcore safe with budget gear. Only souls will be a problem you ll need some ligt res/absorb which is same for all builds and characters. Frozen orb doesnt need too much skill points to be efficent so put more to hydra / fire first if you are going to do a hybrid.

This was before all the synergy stuff entered the game. No one did fire ball, no one did chain lighting and no one did blizzard nor glacial spike. Yall know nothing you bunch of John Snows'! 😂

Meh I noticed the monsters become immune to the elements you are skilled in so it still suffers unfortunately and I mean that literally you will see fire ice immunes like crazy.

That’s not how it works. Certainl mobs are always immune to a certain element in hell difficulty. Unique monsters are randomized in attributes added on top of its base mob. Fire is very common immunity in hell. Cold not as much as fire. It’s not super common to run into one immune to both. But Infinity can help break immunity.

without sunder charms this build is a bad take. In hell half are immune to frozen and the other half immune to fire. Pick anything but these two and you won't have half your spells not working at all times. I'm farming for an essence so I can undo this. I'm new, I don't have a sunder charm. Trying this build was really disappointing and it makes you really FEEL how D2 specifically has everything as cold or fire immune when only ONE CLASS uses those. Why does D2 mess with Sorc in this way and no other class? Just a lazy nerf?! I'll try your lighting build I guess.

I am using this basic build right now! The only major difference I did is I only put more than 1 point in frozen orb out of the whole cold tree. I just hit lvl 80 and have hydra, fire mastery, and fire ball all maxed out. I think focusing on hydra helps farm andariel and mephisto more. Max level frozen orb still does enough to kill fire immune mobs on players 3 difficulty from what I have experienced.

ill recommend chians of honor for chest armor. 2 rings stone of jordan (soj), the arachnid mesh belt, as amulet 1 mara's kaleidoscope or tal rasha's adjudication and magefist gloves. With that you get a +15 to all sorceress skills and by just giving 1 point to all skills you have an almost trielementalist sorceress... plus, you get the synergies to increase the effectiveness of other skills like the ice armor or teleport, etc. Then with charms you can get most skils to +20 or +22 and the main ones 35 to 40+. Also, Call for arms in your main off hand to buff yourself and spirt in your second off hand to make the buffs stronger with the +2 to all skills. With the sundered charms you can make any inmune be gone and done for.

Yeah, I am an extreme endgame blizzard/orb sorceress that I use for MF farming, and I have no problem killing anything in the entire game. But blizzard Hydra is a fun build also

It makes no sense to continue playing dual spec If you alrdy got infinity in the endgame version. Along the way to infinity you will find tons of sunder charms und would be much much faster with a single element then.

it's kind of silly to me that they have ladder and non ladder runewords because ladder runewords you make on the ladder, you get to bring into your non ladder characters when the season ends. I've played seasons for the soul purpose of getting a runeword i wanted.
