Hi y'all! It looks like the Snowcicle is still in stock from Fast Growing Trees since I shot this video . I don't know how much they have in stock, but if you're interested here is a link: fastgrowingtrees.sjv.io/gbVPAr. The other available source I found wasn't shipping until Fall.

Haha! I doubt any local garden centers will have it anytime soon since it was just patented within the last couple years. It’ll take a while to get stock prepped. :)

If only I had more space🤔that will look lovely by garage . I agree do not disrupt your hydrangea hedge. Your info is always wonderfully detailed . I’ve ordered from Fast Growing Trees and have had wonderful results . Their shipping of plants is wonderful and they are quick to get them to us! Thank you love your channel!!

Happy Sunday Matthew, I thought of you yesterday while oakleaf hydrangea shopping. I know you have your hands full with the new house, but I wanted you to know “The Greenery” in Hsv, Al has snowcicles!! They are healthy nice sized plants. I think they are $45.99 or maybe $49.99. My fav hydrangea is the snowflake, but I’m going to plant one this fall to compare. Very excited about this project. Thank you so much for your videos. I think one of the main reasons I love yours so much is bc we both talk the same - sounds like listening to home folk. 😂❤

How exciting to find a hydrangea so unique and beautiful! I’m sure you know your garden best and the garage space would be a good place. I was on the Proven Winners website yesterday and they are running lots of sales right now, if anyone wants to scoop up some smaller potted perennials for better prices. I’m looking to add some of the plants you have touted! Thanks for teaching us so much! 💗

I just ordered ordered 2 “Snowflake” Hydrangeas today. I will plant them in filtered sun. Thank you for that info. Oak leaf ,& Panicle hydrangea are my favourite. Hope they do well in our harsh eastern Australian (Sydney)summers.
@OlysZoo2 жыл бұрын
Yes, plant it on the east side by your garage. It will be fine. It will be a specimen plant there and look much better than that squatty bush.😄 It will act as a microclimate also in that area.

Showstopper blooms like that need to be out front. Be a good neighbour and share! Haha.
@deannewilliams33212 жыл бұрын
Being that it’s so rare, I’d probably put it in a large pot in a safe spot until it’s acclimated. Maybe on the back deck where I could enjoy it? Then I’d move it around and see where it thrives/looks best. Just my thoughts..it’s gorgeous!! My Mom use to put rusty nails under her hydrangeas, to keep them blue I think.

Hi Matthew! I'm so excited for you getting the Snowcicle Hydrangea! It looks like it will be as beautiful as the one you saw in Texas. I may be too late, but I think by the garage would be a perfect spot for it. I agree with you not wanting to add it to the other hydrangea area. I'm looking forward to seeing where you decide to put it and for it to bloom for you. Thank you so much for sharing!

I’m so excited for you. I also found Snow cycle this year after looking for over a year. 😀 I’m outside of Pittsburgh so we share the same zone. I haven’t planted her yet, also looking for the perfect spot. Good luck to us. Thank you for your videos!

My daughter got a hydrangea a few years ago called snowflake, it gets huge blooms, haven’t seen one since. She paid fifty dollars for it, I said are you crazy?? That’s before they were really popular!!

The Oakleaf can take full sun however, they need to be watered so so often. During this heat wave I have to water mine 2 times a day! I have the Gatsby Moon and it's about 5' tall and 6' wide.... I'm moving it this fall. I don't want to baby it every year to the point I'm stressing and worrying constantly about it needing attention. I'm putting it in the front side garden that's more shady but still gets some sun. It'll be a relief. Just thought I'd give my 2 cents worth on where I have mine and where I'd rather have it. If you don't mind tending to it constantly then by all means put it in full sun. I'm in zone 6b, btw.

Id definitely plant it in the front! I have Gatsbys in front of my home which gets the early morning to afternoon sun and they are doing just super!

I have the snowflake hydrangea,it’s close to 15 years old the flowers grow to be 18 inches long. The fall colour is amazing,it’s planted in full sun it’s about 5ft tall. I’ve had to prune the width a bit as it was starting to block a window,So give it some space. You will love this care free shrub.

This is a totally beautiful hydrangea! Even though we are zone 5, we frequently get some -20 to -30 days in winter. So as this plant is good to -10, Buyer beware of your planting spaces if it's not in a somewhat sheltered planting location. Thank you for showing us this variety. Looking forward to seeing it in bloom.

I got that snowcicle last year. It’s growing well in a protected fenced in shaded area no blooms yet. I think it will go nicely any where in your garden Mathew. I just wanted to add I bought 3 more types and the deer/critters left it alone until winter. I went out in the spring trying to remember where I had planted them because they were so badly eaten to the ground. Lost the snow queen but the other two are coming back. The snowcicle is doing the best out of the four I got last year maybe since it didn’t get eaten. It’s a really beautiful hydrangea and will look so beautiful in your garden.

Oooh, it's so pretty! It will be fun to see how this grows for you! We inherited what I guess is the older Snowflake variety at our property from the sellers and it is gorgeous!! Will say however that the stems are not very strong -- the hydrangea is about 9 feet tall and it sags very sadly every Summer when in bloom, extra sad because it's next to two other white double-bloom Oak Leaf hydrangeas that do not sag! Spoke to some growers and they said Snowflake does best when it has something to prop itself up against like a fence or wall and then let the blooms spill over, almost clematis or climbing rose style. Would be lovely if that habit is improved in this new Snowcicle variety!!

Have you heard that if you plant garlic in flower gardens the scent deters pests? Works for tomatoes in my garden so just wondering. Might try as an experiment.

I just bought a snowcicle this spring from a company based in Ohio called “SPRINGHILL NURSERY”. It is a registered trademark of Gardens Alive. But it’s small. It came in a 4 in pot. So it looks like I’ll be waiting 2 to 3 years to see its Beauty.

@gardeningjunkie22672 жыл бұрын
The shrub by the garage might not be performing well because it's a very dry area due to the asphalt and/or foundation and larger tree. I would be a little worried about putting a hydrangea there.
@SouthernersGarden2 жыл бұрын
It has direct drip irrigation available like most everything else in my garden, so it's definitely not a watering issue or dry area. Everything else in the bed has thrived, including other smaller hydrangeas I have in the bed.

@@SouthernersGarden Is heat is radiating off asphalt and bricks?
@evquinn21562 жыл бұрын
Certainly not by the hydrangea hedge. If you choose by the garage be careful not to place it too close to the house. It will need air circulation and the heat from the brick will retain and radiate heat as a microclimate. It will surely be a statement piece. Beautiful choice.
