I know this is super old but wanted to let you know, if you didn't already, that Bulk Apothecary has biodegradable containers now. Several different ones. I wanna say they are made with some sort of rice product? I think???

I'm not sure how you would feel about it, but what about paperboard jars? Only downsides to paperboard is that you can't see what is inside the jar when it's closed, and getting them wet isn't really a good idea ... I do my lip balms up in paperboard tho and people love them, because when they are done they can toss them into a fire (if they have a woodstove or something similar) and if that isn't an option, they degrade like paper. (or at least that's what I've been led to believe, if I'm wrong, please let me know)

Awesome!!! I make glorious face masks too, 6 of them. I get my jars from S&K bottles, Berlin Packaging, and Uline. It depends in what I'm bottling, lol! For masks I'm using Uline straight sided jars they have several lid options. Your probably thinking I'm in the wrong year, but no. I'm going back to watch year 1 videos I missed. Eventually I'll be able to say I've seen them all!!!! I'm a good subscriber! Jill Gross

Ok so you are awesome and you probably have tried this out....but I use ceramic jars. You know all the jazz I'm sure about the clays, fires, and glazes that can seal in the clays. Glass is sexy but a handmade ceramic jar I have found to hold crazy appeal. I dont sell mass like you do and my clientele is more a group that I make monthly to quarterly subscription like box sets. I will feature a local artist for the jars and such. I was even able to obtain hand blown glass vessels for products. With all that said I do often send out dry masks. No, know it all intended and you probably thought of this already or found a glass perfect for you. You all are wonderful!!!!

My sensitive skin always feels dry after doing a clay mask too, so I just stopped doing them. This looks like a great alternative. How much grape seed oil is used? Also, is BTMS 50 used in the same amount as the stearic acid? Thanks very much.

So I have the same issue and was wanting to know the same things about the measurements in this recipe. I looked around at other recipes and found some that are very very close as far as the base ingredients. One I found was just doubled. And the used different oils and extracts ext… but the emulsifier, clays, oils ext… ratios were just doubled. In that recipe they used 2.3 oz of total oils. So half that and I just rounded down so I’m gonna try this recipe with 1oz of grape seed oil. The other recipe also used Btms 50 instead of Stearic acid and they used the same ratio as in this recipe with the Stearic acid, so I’m assuming that the Btms is used at the same ratio as the Stearic acid if you swap them. Just my research. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m going to. Hope that helps😊

Hi, I would be fine to use this mud mask. But my Mum is allergic to oatmeal. I would probably use bamboo powder instead if I made her a mud mask All the other ingredients are great though. 😊🧼💜

I’ve read that clay masks are very hard to preserve, supposedly the clay masks deactivate preservatives. Have you done a microbial test on your masks? I have been looking for a preservative for clay masks for some time now, if Optiphen MD works for you then I will give it a try!

Great question! Interestingly, one of the reasons I offered my mud masks in dry form for the first few years was because I had read something similar and while it didn’t make sense to me, I wanted to test the claims. Assuming you’re working within the correct pH and product type for the preservative, there’s nothing to substantiate the idea that masks degrade any faster than other products (such as lotion). But yes, in addition to testing with my equipment I did send three formulations off the lab to confirm my findings.
