THISSS is a title. It instantly makes me think of how Supreme started off as a one-off store in NY to cater to the hip hop kids and skater kids in the 90’s, and their artsy and weird designs were specifically created by people who were a part of these groups. But it’s been so bastardised to the point where they can put a big ‘s’ on a t-shirt and resellers start licking their lips lmao

I thought the exact same thing about WLR when it came out. I woke up on Christmas morning and decided to give it a listen. I wasn't a huge Carti fan at the time, but I was interested to see how it would turn out knowing that it had been one of the most hyped albums of the past year. I went into it blindly with no expectations and I ended up really enjoying it and the production. Once I finished it I went online to see other people's thoughts, needless to say I was surprised for sure. I know a lot of diehard fans went into it with impossible expectations after the buildup of hype for nearly 2 years, stayed up until midnight and then put their opinion out based off the first 2 songs, just to be first. And because of that, a lot of regular listeners most likely went into it knowing it would be trash based off the opinions put out that early. So I'm happy that I went into it with no expectations and I now try to do the same for nearly everything that catches my interest because of this incident.

For me it had to be Spider-Man Far From Home, Rise Of Skywalker, Batman vs Superman + Justice League + Suicide squad. There’s there’s another level where the movie isn’t bad but isn’t as good as I expected like Deadpool or my first watch of The Dark Knight. There’s also the movies where you live it in the moment but then learn more about it and see it how it truly is like Joker, Last Jedi, Endgame, Amazing Spider-Man 2. And finally the movies you have no expectations for that hit like Rogue One, Marriage Story, Prisoners, and Donnie Darko. The final stage is where it has all the hype, and meets expectations, examples are Infinity War, Godfather, Empire Strikes Back, Pulp Fiction. No matter how the hype is, in the end the way it is known will be on how good it was, not on if it lived up to the hype unless it misses its expectations by a lot

I still remember when BTS was working on their first full album in 2014 and I expected their title track to be inspired by og hip hop, bc at that time they were learning about hiphop through Warren G and Coolio's mentorship. I was so hyped for it, but then they dropped it and the song had a rock base... I was so disappointed. I waited a month before giving it another try and then I loved it. It still has one of my favourite choreos of theirs.

Theater opened up in the middle of the April where I live. Chose a movie at random to watch with absolutely no concept of what the plot was. Mortal Combat. I genuinely enjoyed it. First time in a long time I’ve just enjoyed a movie without expectations.

The best solution for this never watch any trailers for movies/games or follow the hype on social media apps over a new album just be surprised when it comes out and hope it doesn't disappoint you.

Being an adult. It was everything I ever wanted when I was a kid but I hate it here
@fructifer45023 жыл бұрын
While is sucks to do taxes, worry about my budget, and attend way too many boring work meetings, I would not trade the sense of agency, empowerment, and identity that adulthood has brought me for anything. For me, growing up meant realizing that I can literally do anything I want. It's been really liberating learning to reject a lot of the invisible constraints on my sense of self-worth and ambitions that were indoctrinated into me by virtue of the family/society that I happened to be born into.

Why do people forget how much it SUCKED to be a kid?? It is half pros half cons but in the moment it felt like all cons... For example do you remember that when you were a kid... Everything that you were concerned about is insignificant in retrospect??

I grew up reading the Green Lantern comics and I was so excited for the Green Lantern movie when it came out-and we all know how that went. I actually was digging through old mementos I have and found the ticket stub I kept from that movie. Shit’s a relic, I have to keep it.

One of my most favorite series on KZbin I found and I went into it completely blind. It's called songs of war. I hadn't seen any trailers no promos for it I just saw the first episode on my recommended clicked on it and I wasn't disappointed. There was no hype and it's still one of the greatest series in my opinion to this day
@jordanwait72643 жыл бұрын
That movie "The Personal History of David Copperfield" had THE MOST misleading trailers. The trailers and reviews make it look irreverent, but it was just like... a David Copperfield story. I wish I hadn't gone in with any expectations, I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

Ok, so in terms of things I was hyped for: The ones that delivered 100%: Howl's Moving Castle, Get Out, Us, Parasite The ones that didn't: Fant4stic, Swan Lake, Birds of Prey (sorry), Wicked The ones that delivered in the moment, but not so much now: The Greatest Showman, Avengers Endgame, Suicide Squad, Incredibles 2 (lots of superheroes, I know) Needless to say, for the most part, this is exactly why I keep my expectations low...
