Steps to Boot to CD in a Generation 1 VM on Hyper-V Open Hyper-V Manager: Launch Hyper-V Manager from the Start menu or by searching for it. Shut Down the VM: Ensure the VM you want to configure is shut down. Right-click the VM and select Shut down if it is running. Configure VM Settings: Right-click the VM and select Settings. In the VM settings window, go to BIOS under the Hardware section. Set Boot Order: In the BIOS settings, you will see the Startup Order. Make sure that the CD or DVD Drive is at the top of the list. Use the Move Up button to change the order if necessary. Attach the ISO File or Physical CD/DVD: In the VM settings window, go to IDE Controller 1 (usually found under IDE Controller 0 or IDE Controller 1). Select the DVD Drive under the chosen IDE controller. Choose Image file (.iso) if you are using an ISO file, and click Browse to select the ISO file. Alternatively, select Physical CD/DVD drive if you are using a physical CD/DVD. Save Settings and Start the VM: Click Apply and then OK to save the changes. Start the VM by right-clicking it and selecting Start. Boot from CD/DVD: The VM should now boot from the CD/DVD. If the CD/DVD is bootable, you should see the boot process starting from the CD/DVD.
