This is by far the most valuable tutorial I have ever used on You Tube. Although speed tests on my relatively new Windows 11 laptop showed very high speeds, the Internet suddenly began lagging massively after months of zero problems. 5 minutes with this tutorial and my download speeds and Internet performance are as good as the first day I plugged in this machine. This video is a godsend.

Just moved into my new home and I currently don't have access to an ethernet cable. I'm currently connected via Wi-Fi, but ALL other devices on the Wi-Fi have no issues with speeds, even my laptop. My PC caps out at 50mb when I should be getting 1000mb. Some times, like at this moment, I'm getting less than 1mb (500-800kb). I've tried this tutorial in it's entirety to no avail. What else can I do?

If your PC is the only device with slow Wi-Fi, it may be a configuration or hardware issue. Here's what you can try: Immediate Fixes: Update Wi-Fi Drivers: Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager). Expand Network Adapters, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter, and select Update Driver. Restart your PC. Reset Network Settings: Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run: bash Copy code netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig /flushdns Restart your computer. Change Wi-Fi Band: If your router supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, try connecting to the 5GHz network for faster speeds. Ensure your PC’s Wi-Fi adapter supports 5GHz. Advanced Solutions: Check Wi-Fi Adapter Settings: Go to Device Manager, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter, and select Properties. Under Power Management, uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Under Advanced tab, set Wireless Mode to match your router's mode (e.g., 802.11ac or 802.11ax). Reposition Your Router or PC: Ensure your PC has a clear line of sight to the router. Use a Wi-Fi extender or mesh system if the signal is weak. Check for Interference: Disable Bluetooth temporarily to rule out interference. Move other wireless devices (e.g., cordless phones, microwaves) away from the router. If All Else Fails: External Wi-Fi Adapter: If your PC has an older or unreliable built-in Wi-Fi card, try a USB Wi-Fi adapter. Contact ISP: Ask your ISP to check for issues with your connection or router settings. Ethernet Alternative: If possible, use a Powerline Adapter to simulate a wired connection via your home's electrical wiring. Let me know if you need detailed steps for any of these fixes! 😊

I'm not currently able to connect via Ethernet. I do not have speed and duplex settings to change in my wifi settings?
@indigosoftware9625
@indigosoftware9625 4 ай бұрын
If you're unable to connect via Ethernet and don't see speed and duplex settings in your Wi-Fi settings, here’s what you can try: Check Wi-Fi Adapter Settings: While speed and duplex settings are typically for Ethernet connections, ensure your Wi-Fi adapter is properly configured. Go to Device Manager > Network adapters > Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties > Advanced tab. Here, you can tweak settings like "802.11 Mode" or "Roaming Aggressiveness" which may improve performance. Update Wi-Fi Drivers: Outdated drivers can cause connection issues. Go to Device Manager, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter, and select Update driver. Use the Windows Network Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network troubleshooter and follow the prompts to diagnose and fix connectivity issues. Reset Network Settings: If the issue persists, consider resetting your network settings: Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset.

Wi-Fi adapters don’t have "Speed and Duplex" settings because these are specific to Ethernet connections. Here's what you can do instead: 1. Optimize Wi-Fi Settings Change Wi-Fi Band: Use the 5GHz band for better speed (if available). In your router’s settings, ensure 5GHz is enabled. Choose a Less Crowded Channel: Use tools like WiFi Analyzer to find the least congested channel for your network. 2. Update Drivers Open Device Manager > Network Adapters. Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Update Driver. 3. Reset Network Settings Open Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced Network Settings. Click Network Reset and follow the prompts. 4. Adjust Power Settings Open Device Manager. Find your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties > Power Management. Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. 5. Check Wi-Fi Adapter Settings In Device Manager, go to your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties > Advanced tab. Adjust settings like: Roaming Sensitivity: Set to "High." Preferred Band: Set to "5GHz." 6. Improve Signal Strength Move closer to your router or remove obstacles between the router and your PC. Let me know if this helps! 😊

If you’ve already tried the typical network commands like ipconfig and netsh resets and your laptop still isn’t performing well while your brother’s laptop works fine, here are some additional troubleshooting steps: 1. Check for Device-Specific Issues Restart Your Laptop: A full shutdown and restart can clear temporary issues. Update Network Drivers: Open Device Manager. Expand Network Adapters. Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter and select Update Driver. 2. Verify Your Network Connection Run Speed Tests: Test your speed on both laptops to see if there’s a difference. If your laptop shows much slower speeds, move closer to the router or switch to a 5GHz Wi-Fi band. Forget and Reconnect to the Network: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage Known Networks. Forget your Wi-Fi network and reconnect. 3. Optimize Wi-Fi Settings Preferred Band: If you’re on a dual-band router, ensure your laptop connects to the 5GHz network for faster speeds. Channel Interference: Log in to your router settings and change the Wi-Fi channel to one less congested. 4. Check Background Processes Disable Bandwidth-Hogging Apps: Open Task Manager and check for apps using high network resources. Close unnecessary applications like updates, downloads, or streaming services. 5. Test with Ethernet If possible, connect your laptop directly to the router via an Ethernet cable. If the issue disappears, it’s likely Wi-Fi-specific. 6. Reset Network Settings Full Network Reset: Open Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset. Restart your laptop. 7. Check for Malware Scan for Malware: Run a full scan with Windows Defender or a trusted antivirus tool. If none of these steps work, it could be a hardware issue with your laptop’s Wi-Fi adapter. Let me know if you need further help!

all this didnt work for me at all even contacted the ips and the PC custom builder I payed to build my PC the ips say its nothing on their end sadly and seems to be windows who is having a issue it ever since I updated to the most recent windows update -_-
@indigosoftware9625

It sounds frustrating that the recent Windows update has caused slow internet speeds, and if the ISP and custom PC builder confirmed there’s no issue on their end, the problem likely lies with the update. Here are a few things you can try to fix it: 1. Rollback the Recent Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history. Click Uninstall updates and remove the most recent update to see if it restores your internet speed. 2. Reset Network Settings: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status. Scroll down and click Network reset to reset all network settings to their defaults. 3. Update Network Adapter Drivers: Open Device Manager (Right-click Start > Device Manager). Expand Network adapters, right-click your network card, and select Update driver. You can also visit the network adapter manufacturer’s website for the latest drivers. 4. Disable Windows Auto-Tuning: Open Command Prompt as administrator and run this command: csharp Copy code netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled Restart your PC and check if this improves the speed.

If your new PC has significantly slower internet speeds than your other devices, even after trying common fixes, here’s what to do next: 1. Check Your Wi-Fi Adapter Ensure Compatibility: Make sure your PC's Wi-Fi adapter supports your router’s bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and speeds. Update Drivers: Open Device Manager > Network Adapters. Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Update Driver. 2. Test on 5 GHz Band Ensure your PC is connected to the faster 5 GHz Wi-Fi band, not 2.4 GHz. Forget the network and reconnect, selecting the 5 GHz band. 3. Disable Power-Saving Features Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings. Select High Performance and disable power-saving modes for the network adapter: Device Manager > Network Adapters > Properties > Power Management. Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." 4. Reset Your Network Configuration Run these commands in Command Prompt (Admin): cmd Copy code netsh int ip reset netsh winsock reset ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig /flushdns Restart your PC. 5. Rule Out Hardware Issues Test Another Network: Connect your PC to a different Wi-Fi network (e.g., mobile hotspot) to check if the issue persists. Use Ethernet: If possible, connect via Ethernet to see if speeds improve. 6. Advanced Solutions Update Router Firmware: Ensure your router is running the latest firmware. Relocate PC or Router: Physical obstructions or distance can affect speed. If these steps don’t help, the issue may be hardware-related (e.g., a faulty Wi-Fi card). Let me know how it goes, and we can explore further!

So i’m struggling with a minecraft error code. It displays “Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: Badly compressed packet - size of 14 is below server threshold of 256.” I was told it is likely due to my internet connection. Do you think trying this would fix the issue? This is on my first ever pc as well. Thank you!
@indigosoftware9625
@indigosoftware9625 9 күн бұрын
The error you’re experiencing in Minecraft is often related to an issue with your internet connection or server-side settings. Here’s how to troubleshoot and potentially fix it: 1. Test Your Internet Connection Run a Speed Test: Check your ping, download, and upload speeds on Speedtest.net. Ensure your connection is stable. Switch to Ethernet: If you’re on Wi-Fi, try using a wired Ethernet connection for better stability. 2. Increase Packet Size on the Server (if you own it) If you have access to the server’s settings, increase the network-compression-threshold in the server.properties file: text Copy code network-compression-threshold=-1 This disables compression, which can help resolve the issue. 3. Update Java and Minecraft Ensure you have the latest version of Java and Minecraft installed. Update both your PC and the Minecraft server to the latest versions. 4. Reset Your Internet Configuration Run these commands in Command Prompt (Admin): cmd Copy code ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig /flushdns Restart your PC and test Minecraft again. 5. Lower Render Distance Go to Minecraft’s Settings > Video Settings. Reduce the Render Distance to decrease the amount of data the server sends to your game. 6. Restart Modem and Router Turn off your modem and router for 5 minutes. Turn them back on and reconnect your PC. If these steps don’t work, let me know, and we can explore more advanced solutions. Good luck!

Let’s break it down and find a fix for your situation step by step: 1. Test Your Internet Connection Speed Test: Go to Speedtest.net and check your download/upload speeds. Compare them to the speeds you're paying for. Ping Stability: High ping or frequent spikes can cause lag. Run ping google.com -t in Command Prompt to check. 2. Optimize Your Network Disconnect Other Devices: Ensure other devices aren't hogging bandwidth. Change Wi-Fi Channel: Access your router settings and switch to a less crowded channel. If your router supports 5GHz, connect to that network for faster speeds. Update Network Drivers: In Device Manager, find your network adapter and update its drivers. 3. Adjust Game/PC Settings Lower in-game graphics settings (resolution, texture quality, etc.). Check if Windows Game Mode is on: Go to Settings > Gaming > Game Mode and enable it. 4. Investigate Other Causes Background Apps: Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and close unnecessary apps eating CPU, RAM, or bandwidth. Hardware Check: Ensure your PC's cooling system is working-overheating can cause throttling. 5. If All Else Fails Try using an Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi if possible. Reset your network by running the following commands in Command Prompt as Admin: netsh int ip reset netsh winsock reset ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig /flushdns It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, but take it one step at a time. If you’re stuck, let me know what you’ve tried, and we can troubleshoot further.

If switching to the 5GHz band no longer works after a factory reset, here are the steps to troubleshoot and fix the issue: 1. Verify Router and Network Settings Ensure your router is broadcasting a 5GHz signal: Log into your router's admin page. Check that the 5GHz band is enabled and not hidden. Confirm that your device is within the range of the 5GHz signal (it has a shorter range than 2.4GHz). 2. Update Network Drivers Open Device Manager: Press Win + X > Select Device Manager. Expand Network Adapters. Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for drivers. If this doesn’t work, visit the manufacturer’s website to download and install the latest drivers. 3. Manually Set the Preferred Band Open Device Manager and expand Network Adapters. Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter and select Properties. Go to the Advanced tab. Select Preferred Band from the list. Set it to 5GHz and click OK. 4. Forget and Reconnect to the Network Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage Known Networks. Select your 5GHz network and click Forget. Reconnect to the network and enter the password. 5. Check Wireless Adapter Compatibility Ensure your Wi-Fi adapter supports 5GHz: Open Command Prompt and type: cmd Copy code netsh wlan show drivers Look for Supported Radio Types: If it says 802.11a, 802.11ac, or 802.11ax, your adapter supports 5GHz. If 5GHz is missing and your adapter supports it, the issue may be driver-related (go back to Step 2). 6. Reset Network Settings Open Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced Network Settings. Select Network Reset and follow the prompts. Restart your PC and reconnect to your network. 7. Verify Region Settings Open Device Manager, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter, and select Properties. Under the Advanced tab, check the Country Region (5GHz) setting: Ensure it matches the region of your router (some channels may not be available in your area). 8. Test with Another Device Check if other devices can connect to the 5GHz network: If they can, the issue is with your PC. If not, the issue might be with the router. Let me know if any of these steps help or if you need further troubleshooting! 😊

If the speeds improved but then dropped again after a reset, there may be a network configuration or interference issue that’s causing the inconsistency. Here are a few steps you can try to maintain the speed boost: 1. Run Network Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status and select Network Troubleshooter. This can detect and fix common network issues. 2. Adjust Network Adapter Settings: Go to Device Manager > Network Adapters > Right-click your network adapter > Properties. Under the Advanced tab, set Speed & Duplex to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex (or the maximum available setting for your adapter). Disable Energy-Efficient Ethernet and Green Ethernet if these options are present, as they may limit speeds. 3. Flush DNS and Reset TCP/IP Again:

why won’t my ethernet controller come up in device manager
@indigosoftware9625
@indigosoftware9625 Ай бұрын
If your Ethernet controller isn’t showing up in Device Manager, it could be due to a few common issues. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve it: 1. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F12, or Del during boot). Look for settings related to LAN or Ethernet and make sure it’s enabled. Sometimes, the Ethernet controller can be disabled in BIOS. 2. Run the Network Troubleshooter Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network Troubleshooter. This tool might detect and fix missing drivers or hardware issues. 3. Check for Hidden Devices in Device Manager Open Device Manager and go to View > Show hidden devices. Look under Network adapters to see if the Ethernet controller appears. If it’s grayed out, right-click and choose Enable. 4. Update or Install Network Drivers Visit your PC manufacturer’s website or the Ethernet controller manufacturer’s site (like Intel or Realtek) and download the latest drivers for your specific model. Install the driver, then restart your PC. 5. Scan for Hardware Changes In Device Manager, go to Action > Scan for hardware changes. This might detect and reinstall the Ethernet controller if it was removed or disabled. 6. Check Physical Connection Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected and functional. If possible, try using a different Ethernet cable or port to rule out a hardware issue. If none of these steps work, there could be a hardware issue with the Ethernet controller itself, which might require further testing or replacement. Let me know if this helps!

Restart your computer to clear temporary issues. Check for Background Activity: Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc). Go to the Performance tab and check network usage. Stop any apps using excessive bandwidth. Run Network Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Troubleshoot. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common issues.
