I remember watching Hypno-Disc for the first time, I was stunned how it de-shelled Robogeddon and took apart Stealth as it was from then Hypno-Disc was my top favourite. I unfortunately remember how gutted I was when I lost to Chaos 2.

Not many people know, but Hypnodisc was so close to dropping out after the Berserk fight. Sgt Bash bit them badly on the bum and they took severe damage. They were also a teammate down so had to make the repairs between 2 of them

Just noticed the thumbnail uses an image of a later model Hypnodisc as the original lacked the self righting mechanism. It was a beast back in the day.

One of my favourite classic contestant bots. I even remember getting mini-bot from those 3 packs from Toys R Us & being disappointed the disc didn't spin. LOL Also, did you know they were the first contestant bot to get a toy?...... or they were one of the 3 contestant bots to get a DVD?......... or they showed up at RoboNerd?........... or they we......

Ah, the days when radio gear had receivers with aerials three feet long.😁No lithium batteries, no decent motors, crummy speed controllers... But you could build a 100lb robot for £100. Lots of fun.

Hypno-Disc was 2nd in series 3, and 4th in series 4-5 of the main competition. Banbury in Oxfordshire was where they came from.

Classic or modern Battlebots? If it's the latter, hardly a fair comparison considering that Hypno-Disc was built in 1999 for a smaller budget and older materials. For its time and level of competition, Hypno-Disc was impressive. Just curious is all. I see lots of people looking at earlier series of Robot Wars/Battlebots and just commenting "this robot wouldn't stand a chance today". I mean...... yes? So what? It's like looking at a top athlete from the 18th century and slagging them off because they wouldn't be able to compete with the elite from today; different time and circumstances, and it doesn't detract from what they accomplished back then.
