I'm glad I watched it till the end when you said that it might not be so common in the tire shops, but some of us tire changers are ready for something better than the same old over tightened stretched distorted and broken studds, seems like management is only concerned about documenting that the tech knew better instead of an actual equipment upgrade. i like them because of the consistency they can do. for things like head bolts. you don't have to worry about not stopping in the middle of torqing the bolt with the wrench because you ran out of room for the swing of the handle and ran into something and now the bolt that is meant to strech are ruined and that means all the other ones you put on that you have to take off are also ruined and you got to start over and buy all new and hope next time you can do it without having to start over.

@@Shoptoolreviews no it was TorcUp Raptor RP-1000 I believe. You adjusted the air and that would adjust the output of the gun. So basically it’s an electronic torque multiplier. And it uses the reactionary arm (or washer and socket). to calculate torque accurately. It applies torque using a gearbox to multiple torque. The motor spins much faster than what the socket does. I wonder what the gear ratios are. They also make a 36v they Can fastens to 5000 lbs-ft! Not a bad way to spend $6,000.00 usd for these two tools.

I’d like your opinion buddy, we run a farm and I’m looking to buy 2 impacts ASAP I want something that will last as long as possible, I have DeWalts and now 2 SnapOn impacts. Iv had one of the 1/2” SnapOn rebuilt so far and I don’t even use DeWalts anymore because they are just a waste of time. (The DeWalts are a couple years old now) what I’d like to know is what would you buy if you were me? I thought about going the Milwaukee route.... 2) 1/2”impact and 1) 1” i want an investment and not a “buy and use for three years and have to start over” because of a new version of battery or it broke/Bs like that. Thanks, I know the question has many factors. Much appreciation, and always thanks for the great content!

I farm and ranch too . Bought the Milwaukee 1/2 high torque and 3/8 mid torque m18 impacts a year ago and am real pleased with them . I use the 1/4 m18 hex impact with an adapter for 1/4 and lighter 3/8 work and the only bitch there is that it is a little too powerful and will snap the adapters if you are not real careful . On the bigger fuel guns if you bite the bullet and buy a 9 or 12ah battery its like a whole new tool with the power they will output . I still run air for my 3/4 and 1' guns primarily because I own them already and don't want to spend the money to go cordless when what I have works and its not that much trouble to drag hose from the portable compressor for the times I need to step up .

Thanks so much for watching and commenting. You're right, your question/s have many factors, but I'll go ahead a take a shot. When you have a moment to reply: how big of equipment and fasteners (over 1")? How often do you use the impact for fasteners over 1"? If you're not happy with DeWalt, which I understand, then I'd probably shoot for Milwaukee M18 or Ingersoll Rand. Albeit, Ingersoll Rand is more of a pain to find. Milwaukee, at least you can find them on just about any corner. It seems like you're leaning toward purchasing 3 guns: two 1/2" models and one 1" model. I think that's a great idea. If you're doing a lot of wheel/tire changes, then I'd lean toward the extended anvil 1". If you are looking at purchasing 2 of the 1/2" models, you may want to look at making one of these a 3/4" model. It's the same impact, but with the larger anvil. You will notice some performance gain in the larger anvil (more inertia/rotating-mass). As for larger batteries: they have a very slight performance gain, but probably not recognizable. Where they do gain traction is Not dropping off so soon. Using the impacts, once the battery drops to ~50% (2 bars), then you will notice a decline in performance. With a larger battery, you will have a longer runtime before you reach that decline. This is the biggest benefit. I look forward to hearing more.
@littlejackalo53262 жыл бұрын
@@mxcatkiller if you're unhappy with the DeWalt, the Milwaukee will disappoint even more. They're like a Tesla. Yeah they are powerful, but everything else about them are junk. It's good for people who watch KZbin channels that only test Max output. I buy right around 100 cordless tools a year for my company, and I buy all the major brands. I usually stick to DeWalt. But sometimes I need to pick up 5 impact drivers or impact wrenches, and they'll only have 3 deals, so I'll have to pick up a few Milwaukee ones too. I've done long term testing for 20 years, and the Milwaukee just doesn't last. It'll give you a bit more power, but it'll only do it for 6 months. I have 14.4V DeWalt tools from 20-25 years ago, that are still kicking around. I have 81 empires that really abuse tools, and it of the hundreds of cordless tools I've bought, DeWalt always lasts much longer than Milwaukee. Something ALWAYS breaks on the Milwaukee tools.

Too bad you didn't tear them down. I'm curious how deep the reduction is in those gearboxes and what actually differentiates the two guns, if it's motor or just different gearboxes. I'm also curious of what motors they're using, as these guns really don't look all that large and are putting out tons of torque.
@Shoptoolreviews4 жыл бұрын
It would be interesting to see what's inside, but I didn't want to take that chance with such an expensive tool. Thanks for watching.
@xaytana4 жыл бұрын
@@Shoptoolreviews I'm thinking it's probably 5 or 6 reductions deep, maybe one less if they're using thicker gears, on the 250, and an additional reduction deeper on the 750. Looking at the 750 and how the reactionary holder is split from the casing exiting the plastic of the gun, but only the last two reductions are attached to the arm, where the reductions on the others are attached to the drill, every ring in each planetary set is held, and the separation of the holding mechanisms are what allow the two to move independently. I think that additional gearbox is really the only difference between the two guns, as it would only need to be a 3:1 reduction to get to 750 foot pounds. Fairly simple design, and I'm surprised we don't see more torque guns like this. If we knew the specs of the motor itself, we could determine what the overall reduction is, then work backwards from there to determine individual reductions, and determine what the highest torque rating would be if the gun wasn't limited by it's computer. On the torque measurement side of things, they probably have a sensor on the motor side of the gearbox, then multiplying that measurement by the gearbox's reduction on the computer where you program everything. A torque sensor on the motor would be measuring in inch pounds, and at most probably under 10 foot pounds. The ludicrous pricing only comes from this being a tool used in industry settings, by companies that consider the cost as pocket change type prices. Otherwise it's really no different from a drill that has a display and a small computer in it, and a larger gearbox than what's typical. If a consumer variant ever existed, I'd see it competing within the price range of a consumer impact gun of similar torque figures. I'm somewhat surprised none of the consumer brands have tried to tap into the non-impact torque gun market. It might be slightly slower than an impact gun, especially when zipping off a fastener in reverse, but for proper torquing, and maybe even breaking a fastener loose, I'd very much prefer a reduction-based gun like these.
