I rented the I30 in Europe in October 2017 and drove it 4500 kms. You have described the attributes of tbis car very well. It isn't a threat to the GTI. It is an excellent well equipped cruiser that offers a solid chassis, very quiet ride, great features and amenities, and a very good navigation system. It is remarkable how Hyundai has developed such a thoroughly sophisticated small car.

I have a Garmin GPS and I love that I can speak any destination address and begin navigation, no touching the screen at all. It is so safe and convenient, but I can also find a destination on my phone maps and just send it to my GPS. No phone can beat that. Phones can multitask but I feel phones already do too many things now.

I can remember when Honda and other Japanese makers first sold their product in Europe. The critiques were similar. Oh, they're ugly or they look inexpensive, etc. Now they are benchmarked by other makers. I am impressed by both Hyundai and Kia. Though the Kia Forte5 is almost an identical twin? The SX trim has the same spec's too. See the sales of both brands, throughout Asia.

If you check the Hyundai website now, the Elantra GT Sport got discontinued and replaced with the Elantra GT N Line. The N Line trim is now the “Sport” trim of the Elantra GT.

Or they Charge 50k-60k with tax, for a tarted up shopping cart on roids a la Ford Focuck Rs, or the abomination that is the Civic Type Turd... I love the I30 N, I'd buy it in a sec if it's under 35k with perf pack .. But over that price and I'd wait a few years and buy it second hand

Shin Jun - Hyundai has already released notice that the N model of the Elantra GT will not be sold in North America at this time(and there is no future plans to do so). In fact, the only N model we are getting at the moment will be the new fully redesigned 2019 Veloster (which will not even be branded a N model). The new Veloster will not be sold in gutless configuration anymore either, reason being so to not cannibalize Elantra GT Sport sales and as well become a replacement for the Genesis coupe in the North American lineup.

This car has Hyundai's smart Cruze with full stop and go and lane keeping (sport and n line exclusive I believe), makes it such a good gt car and soo much fun on the back roads!! Also the sport trim is not easy to find now that the model is pulled from the north American market.

I think Zach is bang on this review. For the price you are paying it is very good value. I personally don't like the styling, and add as others pointed out correctly, the screen ( like Mazda) looks like its glued on as , oh yeah it needs a screen. Still for the price it at least worthy of a test drive if some of the others in its class are just out of your budget.

Why should I pick this car over the Civic Si on the se proce range? At least the Civic has a better exterior, not to mention the resale value
@mrubuntuking5257
@mrubuntuking5257 7 жыл бұрын
If you're buying an economy car with the purpose of reselling it, you are frankly an idiot. Honda, Toyota, Subaru, and to a lesser extent Nissan (way more reliably than the Americans, but nowhere near the other Japanese makes, they make up for it with nicer interiors and better CPO prices though) are both reliable and affordable specifically so you can drive them for 20-30 years, and junk them when they're finally no longer worth fixing. Even a Honda loses 10-20%+ of its value when you drive it off the lot, and 30-50% over 3-5 years, you're supposed to make that back and then some by not having to take out a new car loan for decades. If you're replacing your Civic Si every 3-5 years like you would a BMW, the value proposition isn't there and long-term reliability isn't really a concern of yours. If you're buying cars that way, you're basically leasing and eating massive depreciation regardless of who makes the car, so just lease a German lease machine.
@gianfrancoa
@gianfrancoa 7 жыл бұрын
No need to insult to get your point across. I don't think a 30k car is still consider an economy car. I would think that the Accent and Fit would be on that economy segment

Um, start with the Honda requires premium gas and, in America, has a LOT less features than the Hyundai at the same price point. Plus, the GT here is more practical as a wagon, something not offered in a Civic Si.

I am also stuck between these two cars with the same line of thoughts you have. I find the elantra gt exterior kinda "meh" but love the interior, whereas the civic hatch sport touring has a more.. busy exterior with dual center exhausts. I love the look of the panoramic sunroof, but I wonder how often I would use it. If i was a family guy with small kids I would prob go with the civic for the bigger back seats for baby seats since they fit forward and backwards
@MJC7283
@MJC7283 6 жыл бұрын
I also compared the si and the gt sport, i ended up getting the gt sport, it feels and sounds better, interior was less busy and better looking than the civic. The engine and transmission are fantastic in the gt, i wasn't all that impressed with the civic si, the sport/ext even less thrilling. The gt is a wonderful drive

I enjoy your channel and your reviews, but i do not understand why, and wish you, and you and other car reviewers as you are not alone in this, would stop saying that buyers do not need navi if a vehicle has apple car play/android auto. I will agree if one never drives outside cell coverage this is true, but for xcountry trips or those living in rural or mountainous areas where cell coverage is spotty, navi is a sure bet and needed. So perhaps you could qualify your “not needed” statements in your vids.
@Motormouth...
@Motormouth... 7 жыл бұрын
+S G yes, that is true but the problem a lot of Manufacturers have is that they bundle the on-board navigation into the most expensive car. So, for those trips where you have cell coverage Android auto and apple carplay will do the trick and if you are doing a long road trip you can buy a navigation system at Costco for about a hundred fifty bucks. Yes an on-board navigation looks better and is integrated but having to spend for the top model is a waste of money for most

All the newer phones have their own dedicated GPS chip, which will give location information even when off the cell network, so this is less of an issue than in the past, when phones used the cell network exclusively to determine position.

That's a new car for 2017. It's not even the facelift but it doesn't seem to add that much more over the outgoing elantra. The new 2018 facelifted golf packs so much more tech than this new platform car. If you're poor, yeah sure this car is great but if you can afford, the golf simply puts down this car.

Mourinho M you do know that Alex Biermann worked on the chassis on the Elantra GT sport right? If you dont know who that is, think of BMW M divison. He was the head engineer of that department. I have this car and a BMW 3 series and let me tell you, they’re almost identical in terms of driving dynamics.
@skifree0
@skifree0 7 жыл бұрын
Biermann is in charge of driving dynamics. What he complained about was the looks being too conservative. I don't see how it relates. If anything he is right, out of their current lineup, Hyundai also has Schreyer, and the GT looks the least like his designs. it doesn't have the best proportions, nor the cleanest lines, and it just is a bit too conservative. as for driving dynamics, It's getting better with biermann but they still have to work with their current parts bin. I test drove the sedan sport, and while WAY better than my last korean car (a 2013 kia optima), it still has that trademark numb steering, that isn't as precise as the competition. Also the ride still a bit too soft for my tastes.

That is one ugly boring exterior. The interior & seats of these cars are simply cheap. No physical parking brake. You need navigation because using your phones gps uses cellular data. These cars are so small you don’t need dual climate control. Cargo area is nice. The red trim is tacky. Panoramic roof is nice. I just dislike this brand a lot. Kia too.
