Totally agree! If the port is on the left side, you park directly at the charger and maybe bump the door into something and the door is not on the "open" side towards the road.
@teledopo Жыл бұрын
Yes, this is really a non-discussion. The reason is charging in the street. In right driving countries you are mostly parked on the right side of the street and in parallel with the street. If your charging port is on the left, the cable plug sticks dangerously out at the side with passing traffic and sometimes the cable is not long enough and has to be put over the roof of the car. Tesla had it wrong to provide a charging port on the left side, just like their Superchargers had too short charging cables to serve cars with other charging port locations.
@FHB71 Жыл бұрын

@nettlesoup Жыл бұрын
It would have be more than just an extra socket and cables because if one side is energised and charging then so is the other side, which is a huge electrocution risk. @actiontom Жыл бұрын
About the sides. One thing is that if you would get stuck somewhere and you need to be recharged, it would be safer to do it from the edge of the road, not from the middle. So even if you have car with left side driver position, it can be good design choice to have the socket/lid on the right side :D But I don't see the sides discussion as some dilemma. It is what it is, both sides have pros and cons.

Hi Bjorn, You keep arguing that the right side is the wrong side while the right side is the left side. Blah. Wrong. That's OK if you are charging in your garage or on the ultra wide roads of LA or any "large" town in the US or on any British/Commonwealth ex-colony, but it's not what the future real life in Europe will be offering you: chargers everywhere on the roadside. In that case the plug will be on the road side, being exposed to traffic (i.e. catastrophic hits by cars and cyclists) and even dangerous for the driver that will be forced to plug in in the middle of the road. Not a big problem if you live in the States of in the very quiet Norway, but just try to charge on the roadside in heavily trafficked cities like Milan, Paris, New Delhi, Barcellona or Naples. Your charging port or your life will last minutes, while you will never die walking two more meter inside your garage. Solution: just buy an Audi Etron GT or a Porsche Taycan like I did, just to have the wrong charging ports always on the right side. 😂
