Thanks for posting this video and talking about your experience with this bad situation... 2021 palisade, 72k miles and started to experience problems around 68k. I drove a little over 1k miles, 3 different times during the oil consumption test and went from a full tank of oil down to about 2 quarts left. The dealership here in CA has filed the paperwork with Hyundai to do an engine change. It's been about 5 business days and the work has not been approved yet, but will update with any changes.

I paid way too much money for this vehicle to be dealing with this! It makes me feel better to hear it’s not just me ( although that’s terrible that so many people are going through this). The dealership I work with have been jerks. This is my last Hyundai! I always thought they had reliable cars but boy, was I wrong! Thanks for sharing, your information really helped.

So I'm currently doing my oil consumption test, my local dealer in La Quinta California told us that there have been several Palisades traded in for this same issue. Which isn't exactly something I want to hear as a current owner. However, I have a buddy who owns one and they replaces the motor! Hard to believe, but still it was done and burned just over a quart 1k miles. I take mine in this weekend. We'll see what the results yield.

The oil light genie lamp is for oil pressure so even though the dipstick is dry the oil pick up is still submerged but the issue you run into is when you take a turn or punch it and the oil sloshes and the oil pickup gets a dry spot and you score the bearings and or break something. You don’t ever want to see that light turn on. The dipstick being dry doesn’t mean the oil pan is empty though.

Found your video looking up issues with the Palisade. My Pali is currently being diagnosed at the dealership. I’ve observed excessive oil issues with our pali but didn’t real look into the issue with the stealership. Right now it’s in there for starting issues. It’s a 2020 Limited with 75k mi. What I’m experiencing is after pushing the start button it take 3-5 seconds for the car to engage the starter. One time it didn’t start until after 4 attempts of the starting cycle. Hoping to hear back from the dealership that they know what the issue is and it’s repaired under warranty.

I was losing a quart of oil every 5000 miles in my 2021 Calligraphy. I switched to a different brand of oil and my oil consumption seemed to stop at about 20,500 miles. My oil loss turned out to be from evaporation as my oil catch can was always full (7oz). Last oil change I did 2 days ago my dipstick was still at full mark at 7500 miles and my catchcan only had 1oz of oil.

Every 1000km going back to dealer is done about 6 times. Once they determine its buring lot oil. They send request to hyundai for new engine and they replace it. For me it took 4 months

I have 2020 white Palisade Ultimate with 123000km and just know this that oil that was change 4 weeks ago and was right on the full dipstick now is below min. I was shocked. I also know this engine shaking weird. I have been driving Hyundai since Pony, then years back first model of Sonata Hybrid, 2x Genesis Sedan Tech editions and now Palisade and 2021 SnataFe all brand new. I went to dealer the other day and just like you, they tested and added oil and said its all good, I am furious how they deal with issues. I am strongly considering get rid both of my Hyundai's and go different brand. Disappointment is understatement, most likely I will never purchase that brand again and I will let perspective buyers e.g friends, family co-workers to stay clear from Hyundai.

My 2017 SontaFe Ultimate XL which I sold it few years ago transmission was slipping pretty bad at just over 100K and they couldn't ever fixed it, I let that one go, but this time with my Palisade that was the last straw I wont put up with. I called Hyundai corporate today and did some online research. Most brands now have an oil consumption allowance of 1qt/1000 miles. The lady told me if it isnt eating more than that, there is no issue. Even after 4 tests if it fails they will just do a cleanout of the engine, then do an oil change, afterthat you do 1 more test at another 1000 miles. If it fails again then the dealer can begin the warranty process for an engine change. Not sure why brands are making vehicles that wat oil so fast, but i might consider an electric car. Or change the oil every 4000 miles instead of the recommended 7500. Or try a heavier oil.
@CoderMan

It does seem more common sadly. I would try different oil weights (research some options) and of course more frequent oil changes or at least top it off. Cheap insurance.

So I just want to put my 2 cents in. I have commented on a few of your videos because I feel like there is a misconception here about new cars with lower miles should not be burning oil. This is false ever since the EPA regulations and emission laws cars from factory have a "expectable oil consumption rate". This is brand new folks and not just from Hyundai but Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, Honda and etc. Further more these " Oil Change intervals" these manufacturers come up with are insane I was always told 3000 for conventional oil and 5000 for full synthetic and i never reach these numbers because I always considered these numbers to be a stopping point not a sure thing. Now manufactures are pushing cars 3000 - 5000 on Conventional and 7000-10000 on Synthetic and people follow these recommendations because they don't know any better so they can charge you for everything that breaks. I understand these cars in particular have been proven to have oil consumption issues so I am not speaking of this car per say but I can say I had a 16 Genesis Coupe 3.8 which has basically the same motor just not running the Atkins cycle up to 135000 miles before I traded it in burned a little oil maybe a quart every 3000 or so but nothing crazy. All I am saying is I think people are miss informed on what a appropriate time to change your oil is along with other normal maintenance time frames. I mean how many of you are changing your coolant every year or so and not just trusting the dealer to do it when they will push it to 36 months. PS: please don't go to your dealer to get your car work done it is the a huge waste of money and time.

Appreciate your perspective. First new vehicle that i've had this issue. Owned about 10 others so I wouldn't be so quick to say its normal, more like being normalized. I do also agree on not going to your dealers for service. Under warranty you really don't have an option.
