Am I the only one who doesn't think they look super cheap? I'm kind of digging the glossy finish and the metal on the headband. I think the logo on the back of the ear cup is sort of classy. I happen to disagree with the Cheap Audio Man on this. Cheers, though!

Those are not that bad looking compared to my old Realistic headphones. Those are some awful looking things. This Brown/Beige color, non detachable cable with a 1/4 inch end that coils. They smell of the early 80's. Even after the mods I've done though, they still cost 100.00 less than those and I like the sound.

Your videos are great. You review products that normal people can afford, but but you aren't an audiophile for sure and that can be a good thing. HOWEVER, the amount of bs and advertising is becoming intolerable. Now I just skip to 5 minutes in to hear and see the content.

I think it's fair to judge things on their looks, as long as you don't confuse the looks for the sound. There's nothing wrong with saying, "sounds great, but ugly and cheap looking." I really like Koss headphones a lot. Most of them look and feel quite cheap. I think they give a lot of bang for the buck, but of course they're really inexpensive, so they're not really competing with headphones costing 10X as much.

Yes, happened to me with digital piano's. Every 10 years I look for a new piano with 10 years better technology. Started looking this year and I didn't like any of them, nothing much changed. The salesman said, "how about the DGX670"? The DGX has been around for over 20 years as a cheap crappy uncontrollable piano with light action....so....I said "no way". Then my friend bought one and I spent some time with it, turns out this "cheap" piano is the best I have heard in the 35 years of looking for a great digital piano. The manufacturer had changed everything about, it was nothing close to what it used to be. It was fantastic. Ooops!

Hey, congrats on the seven thousandththtthhhtht video! That's a herculean amount of work and it is thoroughly appreciated. I also enjoy your take and observations on social and communication logic, for lack of a better name. How childlike it is indeed to judge something with so little knowledge. reminds me of "Here try this new dish." "Don't like it" "You've never tried it" "Don't like it". of course, our species is very sight reliant so it is understandable how the looks of something will strongly affect our ideas about it. Thankfully, some people have brains and are capable of entertaining a thought process that goes beyond the mere superficiality of looks. One of the reasons I enjoy my hd58x, besides their midrange focus, is also because, to my ears and head, mind or whatever one wishes to call it, bass and treble can be tiring if I am tired. So, sometimes, I just enjoy going for a mellow mid-centric frequency range, and lapping up those gorgeous voices lullabying me with lush melodies. Haven't heard 600s, 650s or 6xxs but I don't believe they're that different from the 58s, at least not from abstractly interpreting other people's analyses, despite the 58s being purported to have more low and high-end. cheers :D

I have you and my cousin to thank for my HiFi obsession! LOL between both Schiit stacks, Modius, Lokious, Jotunheim with MM for my Thorens TD115, Emotiva A2Mini and B1+ stereo speakers! I was dumb and started with the Modi loki Magni with the Black Walnut RCA bridge from Snake Oil! but I cannot get rid of a buzz in that system with Snake oil RCA cables, Walnut board, or other RCA's and I haven't tried since i got the Emotiva dual Power Outlet! all with a set of HifiMan HE400SE with XLR cable to my Jotunheim and 7W of power! and I would rock some CAM stickers!

When I saw the first reviews, I also felt the same about the built. I also really hate the design choices they made with this headphone, it is very polarizing. The glass cup plates in my opinion is the worst idea ever and the purple color doesn't go well with it. The band design is also weirdly unconvincing and looks fragile (even if it is actually durable). Hope they release another variant fixing these quirks soon.

Hey randy, you really should try room correction! I know some audiophiles can be a but oushy with you have to treat your room (and you really should it makes massive differences but obviously there are other considerations) but room correction can really help in untreated rooms and you should give it a go. Another thing, about expensive stuff bejng a rip off, some of it absolutely is. Being expensive doesn't mean it's going to be good (I'd wager the chances only go up marginally of the thing you buy being good with price) but even if it is good, you will get deminishing returns not least bc less people are buying expensive things so they need bigger margins (This is also why DIY kits can be such killer value, I know you loved your Critons and XLS Encores, as well as the akitika amps) anyway, thise deminishing returns get easily obscured by other things like room reflections or EMI or power supply issues. So whilst expensive products don't necessarily make sense tp you in your system that doesn't mean they're always a rip off

I definitely have issues with making judgement on gear I have not heard. I see those Aiyima's and Fosi's and think to myself there is not way those amps aren't full of distortion. One day hopefully I actually hear one of them and they prove my prenotions wrong

But I definitely do believe you, I have had experience with some budget pieces of gear that sounded very good. I do have a bad habit of judging audiophile gear by looks though...and sometimes by price.

In fact THD is often extremely good with these chip amps. I suggest looking at Audio Science Review's measurements of the Fosi BT 20A Pro. You may not like the way they sound but can't really criticise them for having distortion.
