I feel your pain! I gave up bread, potato chips and ice cream for six weeks. I drank half a gallon of water each day. I attended exercise sessions at the Y. Guess how much weight I lost? Nothing! Not one ounce!!! I feel like all I accomplished was being miserable for six weeks. And I should lose weight because I am under 5 feet tall and morbidly obese. Unlike you, it really shows on me. My butt looks like Kim Kardasian, and I am not saying that in a good way🤦‍♀️. Life is tough. Some days I just want to cry. But what good would that do?

I’m 20-30 pounds from goal still and I’ve been trying to lose weight consistently for almost 3 years 😅 I’ve lost a total of 120 pounds. 👏 There’s no time limit on improving health, you have the rest of your life. When I find myself struggling, I focus on maintenance and creating healthy habits rather than trying to lose weight.

Girl, that's friggin amazing!! Good for you. Even though you're not at your goal yet, you've made incredible progress and kept off 120 lbs. I completely agree about focusing on maintenance when things aren't going so well. That's what I do, and it helps so much because I used to just give up and gain tons of weight back. I've realized that maintaining is just as important (if not more so) than losing : )

THIS! I have become a much happier person since I starting embracing each season instead of fighting against them. In Winter, I look forward to drinking hot tea, snuggling up in comfy sweaters and soft blankets, watching movies, reading, etc. I let it be a bit of a hibernation time for me. Spring is full of life, and I'm finally going to start a garden this year, and I have so many projects I can't wait to get started on. I always have so much energy and want to get so much done during the Spring. Summer to me is a time to just really enjoy life. I go swimming several times a week, we grill out a ton, and that's usually when we plan for a fun trip (when possible). During the fall, I love to spend lots of time in nature as it starts getting cooler again and the trees change colors. I start making soups and stews again, and I love preparing for the holidays. Every season brings lots of positive things, so by focusing on the parts of the season that I love, it keeps me from wishing for a different one :)

The 3 second rule was an amazing self help book. When anxiety hits and you don't want to do something, count to 3 and "jump" aka DO IT. Wake up, don't want to get out of bed? 1, 2, 3.... jump. Don't let yourself talk YOU out of it. :) the book obviously does better than I did here but... it's helped a lot with dealing with anxiety.

I love your honesty, so much of what you are experiencing resonates with me, and I have a few years on you kid, when you are in your mid 40's it gets a bit harder, so for me it is now or never! Structure is key! I started a 30 day challenge today and I am using the Structured app to break down my days. I include mealtimes, workouts, work time, family time, time for relaxing, time for creative hobbies / reading etc. I am similar to you, I am 5'6" starting off at 246lbs, and I know I can do this as I have done it before. Everyone has setbacks, it's normal, but getting back on the horse is the true test. I wasn't in the headspace to start back on the healthy train until now, but I have set myself a realistic goal to work towards and no time pressures or no weight / measurement targets other than as long as the number is going down I am ok with it! When I get to a point where I feel happy and comfortable with myself then I will be at my goal weight. So for the next 30 days, choo choo mofo, one day at a time and one pound at a time!! WE can do this,! :D :D :D :D

This isn't a negative video, girl! This is a "I haven't failed, because I'm not giving up!" video. I'm trying to unlearn nearly 30 years of bad habits and negative thinking when things get hard. It's hard! Sometimes you get in your own way. Tell yourself, "Move, bitch!" and keep trying! I find these types of videos the most inspiring because you're not giving up when it's hard!

@@Hannahfarrior Are you sure you aren't just eating too little during the weeks? I mean there's binge eating and there's binge eating. One is a natural response when you have had too little kcal to eat relative how much you spend, and the other is a emotional response and an eating disorder. I don't mean to school you or anything but since you said that you eat healthy and work out during the weeks and then feel like binge eating once a week, it might be a more natural occurrence as opposed to the eating disorder. And as opposed to the eating disorder the other way of binge eating is so much easier to fix
@Hannahfarrior
@Hannahfarrior 3 жыл бұрын
@@LinneAzalea I should have said I really struggled with binging until about 2 years ago. I weighed about 140 and was a good size. I was in an Abusive relationship and gained up to 215 pounds because I would binge so bad. I finally got down to 180 because I was tired of that emotional baggage and then got pregnant. I’m a few pounds away from 180 now but I went back to binging after my pregnancy and went back up to 200 after the initial post pregnancy weight loss. So yes it was true binge eating. I just didn’t give the details.

The comments in the car about "wondering why prolonging a life you are unhappy with but still continue doing it" really reminded me of one important turning point in my battle with depression. One day I was able to decide to "just go on living my life, taking lots of photos and then just enjoying it retrospectively when I'm better". Somehow that took the pressure of having to feel better away. It wasn't all roses and butterflies after that but it was a step in the right direction. Hang in there people!!!

After talking to patients who have successfully lost weight and KEPT IT OFF (the hard part) and talking to providers, it seems like weight watchers is the only “program” that works long term. So I'm now deciding to be nicer to myself and start my day with a fun activity. I get out of bed, whenever that may be, put music on and dance like an idiot while the kettle is on. This is all i can manage for now, but its more than i could. Knowing that i do that every morning, is a routine! nothing extreme or restrictive about it!

Regarding clothing decisions--- I organized all of my tops in rainbow order and I wear red/pink on Monday, orange/peach/salmon on Tuesday, yellow on Wednesdays --the whole "ROY G BIV" thing, and since indigo and violet are both purple to me, I wear purple on Saturday and black, brown, gray or white or whatever I want on Sunday. So all I have to decide is 'Do I need long sleeve vs short sleeve?" and the house temp / outside temp determines that for me, and then choosing a T-shirt for a day around the house or a nicer top for going out of house or work. Made life so easy. All of my pants/shorts/skirts etc are black, gray or jeans so they go with everything. The less decision-making you have to do before breakfast, the easier your mornings are.

Winter is depressing and losing weight when it’s cold feels counterintuitive because the instinct is most likely to get heavy and be stationary to avoid harsh conditions. I think everyone has an easier time tackling weight loss when it’s warm out so I think it’s good to see that you’re focusing on your mental health some more. I hope you’ll be able to figure out what a life you’re happy with will look like because I have a similar goal.
