The biggest negatives of this so called Land Cruiser to me are : Cheap built quality. 4-cylinder hybrid engine and unrefined transmission. High cargo area due to the battery placement. Lackluster fuel economy. Small fuel tank with range of less than 300 miles. Lots of annoying warning beeps.

We Just unloaded about 1000 Of these in port of Benicia last week and several thousand last couple months. They looks nice at first. Inside very basic lots of plastic and absurd sticker price severely under powered as well. Hopefully they will last long. Good luck Ben

Always sell privately, especially a sought after Toyota. The stealership has to make a fortune on a used car. Dealers will low ball your trade-in (Days of high Covid trade values are long gone) or not negotiate the sale price on the new car if they give you anything near reasonable on a trade-in. They have it down to a science and will make their money regardless. With dealerships there is no winning only degrees of losing when trading in. Even though, you're not paying tax on the amount of your trade-in, that still won't equal what your vehicle is really worth.

Seems like every Toyota dealer in Utah has 1958 models stacking up these days. I’ve even seen a few Land Cruiser models sitting around unsold. Lots of people backing out of Land Cruiser purchases.

I don't get the needing giant vehicles for a couple kids. My mother had a 85 Accord hatchback and 3 boys we went everywhere in it. all practices and trips. Never an issue. There were land yaht wagons but we did it in the old accord..

I really like and prefer your Heritage Edition LC. Having said that, the new LC is growing on me and I'm starting to like it more and more. The new LC sits more like the classic old Toyota Land Cruiser / old Land Rover Defender with everything upright and trimmed in on the sides. It's a tough choice between them; you almost can't go wrong no matter which you choose to keep.

I never pay cash for vehicles. Converting cash into a depreciating asset is not... fun. Paying interest keeps the risk on the bank. In case of an emergency I can give the vehicle back and still have my cash.

I sold my first edition. Had less than 800 miles and like you was not impressed at all. I sold it while it was still “hot” and essentially broke even. Was able to get a 2025 sequoia capstone and really happy with the car. The trunk is not an issue for us in case anyone wants to point that out.

I purchased a 2005 Mazda 6 S Wagon with 144k miles for $3700. I didn't have to get it since I already have 2 cars and I'm now beginning to regret it after coolant hoses burst, followed by the radiator exploding, followed by the radiator fan going out followed by the radiator new fan not running followed by control module & wiring changes followed by the car still overheating as it sits at Pep Boys for over a month now.- Next comes a new OEM thermostat & new radiator/coolant caps as the engine block test shows no issues. The heater core might also need to be back flushed since it might be clogged causing the overheating. They assured me all the air was purged out of the system.

I lasted about 6 minutes and learned nothing.

I am curious like you said, if the 4cyl turbo hybrid is reliable... Also, i don't think you pay cash for cars entirely because you are a 1 man show. It's probably part of your overall financial plan. I pay cash for cars from regular job, it's a financial model and mindset really. We save money every month specifically for any large car expenses that come up and to be able to pay cash for our next cars... Make car payments to a high yield savings account nicknamed Car Holding. So, instead of paying interest, we are making interest.. It's probably related to not having mortgage payments also. Living Below your Maximum means does wonders for your financial life.. I'm an auto-parts delivery driver here in Southern Oregon & at the Toyota dealer someone's driving (probably the manager) a beautiful all blacked-out Sequoia with 22" wheels, that's what I think you should trade your Land cruiser in for, that way you're not stuck with a vehicle you don't want or need & at the same time get paid top $$$ for it as well, killing two birds with one stone. Regarding developers buying open land just to build on it, I totally agree with you, we need more farm land, not more commercial retail, shopping malls or housing.
