For me, the Sam scene and the following Mannequin scene shortly after never fails to make me cry. It's just a 1-2 gut punch. The Sam scene, for obvious reasons. The best good girl, who protected her Daddy till the end. The Mannequin scene just... serves to further drive home the significance of Sam's passing. This man was already alone. He had already lost everything that was important to him. Sam was his last companion, his last connection to his family, his last connection with something from the world before it all went to hell. Once she was gone, he truly had nothing left. The quiver in his voice as he begs the mannequin lady to speak to him... to say something- anything. In this moment, he was completely broken. Which... makes his next actions that much more understandable. He wasn't making any meaningful progress on the cure, the rest of humanity was most likely dead already, and he had nothing left to live for.

@@carlisflores5363 I’m talking about the way the dog died; not that the dog died. Having to choke it to death is just not something I wanted to see when I go out to see a movie to escape. I would have far more accepted a very cliche death for the dog.

16:20 is exactly right. I watched an analysis about the movie and you can see that the alpha dark seeker was emotional/ teary eyed, as well as pouting in anger when his wife was capture by Will Smith’s character

Will Smith fell so in love with the dog that played Samantha that he tried to buy her from her owner.

1.The part that gave me real respect for Will Smith is the scene where he's talking to the mannequin right after having to kill his best/only friend and says, "please say hello to me".😭 THAT'S acting my friends.😎Where did he go to find that? 2. This film is mostly a remake of "The Omega Man" staring Charlton Heston. 3. The animals escaped from the Manhattan Zoo. 4. It's possible, since the world has moved on, he was the bad guy since he was hunting them. 5. You are correct. The female was the main bad guy's squeeze.😍 6. I absolutely fell in love/LUST with Alice Braga after I saw this movie. 😍 7. Thera's another ending where everyone lives. It's not as good as this. I've seen Ellie do The Green Mile. I want Michelle to CRY

There is an older version of this movie called "The Omega Man" with Charleton Heston from 1971. Its also pretty good.. The special effects and makeup is pretty cheezy. But the story is good.

You should both definitely read the short story I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. The movie is very different than the short story. The short story is a classic in horror fiction and has a beautiful plot twist at the very end that makes the title make more sense. Highly recommend the short story.

The Book's ending was better. The infected were "vampires" not zombies, and Neville was going around during the day killing them. The vampires had (unbeknownst to Neville) an intelligence to them, and to the vampires **HE** was the monster (moving by day and slaughtering them). They were terrified of him, and so he became a "legend" among them of a monster that moves in daylight, just as vampires were legend among the humans.
@BlackWACat3 жыл бұрын
there’s an alternate ending where there is no cure and he faces the realisation that he’s the monster in the situation, which is close ig? he doesn’t die or anything afaik, but i don’t remember if he does in the book, so they changed it for the theatrical release cause people didn’t like the downer, i guess? but it’s out there and it’s in some of the releases you can get/watch

They didn't stop his wife from letting through because she was infected, but because the system didn't recognize her, so he made them scan again. Did you Know this movie is the Third Version of this Movie, this movie is based on a novel by the same Name, in the 1960's Hollywood made the first movie Called "Last Man On Earth" in the 70's Hollywood made the second movie called "Omega Man" then the 2000's Hollywood made this Movie.

At the end before Neville blows himself up The reason the head zombie was so angry was because that was his girlfriend zombie Neville kidnapped to experiment on for a cure. There was another Alternate version (Should be on youtube) Were Neville just gives the female zombie back after curing her. And allthe zombies leave lol (But he still has the new cure I believe lol) Alot of people felt that The alternate ending was better than the one in the film were he sacrifices himself with the grenade.

The alternate ending is closer to the books ending and more realistic to the actual message and themes of the story. The theatrical version is just that, some studio bullshit because they thought it needed to be a more action packed ending. He realizes they had become a new society, a new species of people. And when he had looked at all the people he had been experimenting on he realizes just how much humanity they have in them, they love, they protect one another, they learn. He realizes he has been the bad guy, the boogie man, that they tell stories about “around a campfire” so to speak. He is a legendary monster in their eyes (hence the title), capturing their family and loved ones, experimenting on and ultimately killing droves of them. So he returns the loved one to The Night King darkseeker, and accepts they have created a new community. The theatrical ending completely misses the point of the whole story. The original ending is much more thought provoking and much better, and is generally agreed to be the actual proper ending, barring studio interference.

There is an alternate ending to the movie, where Will Smiths character doesn't die, but instead it is revealed that the monsters just want the woman back that Nevill is trying to cure, showing that the monster also have feelings. They take the infected woman and leave them. I do like the original ending, but I think the alternate ending is better.

This is a great movie. It's not better or worse than the book, it's just fundamentally different. In the movie he's a legend because he comes up with a cure. The book is ....._different. In the book, we have legends of vampires because he went on rampages murdering people at night. Flash forward to the future after the vampire apocalypse, he's the last human alive slaughtering vampires during the day. He becomes a legend to vampire society. The boogeyman that parents use to frighten their children.

I want to reassure the girls, there are two endings to this film, the bad one you watched, and the alternative director's version where Neville survived. In general, the film was shot based on the book by Richard Matheson, although it has nothing to do with this work, except for the plot, the book is more filled meaning, and philosophy, I advise you to read ..
