Hi Rachel those are cute little baby chicks... I don't know if you've ever watch Cog Hill Farm. But they have a vast array of chickens and some that I really love with the poofs on the top of their heads, once called Blondie and then there's Tina Turner and Phyllis Diller... And then there's unusual one called Redneck he's quite fascinating he has a long neck and red colored feathers... But what I was going to tell you about is they have this huge incubator. I don't know how many eggs they can hatch in there. But I thought you could check it out. They had a video out couple of weeks ago about hatching eggs in her closet... Check them out if you ever have time I sent it to Reese months ago I don't know if she ever got a chance to look at them or not... They also have a emu, peacocks, turkeys, ducks, geese... And these wonderful Victoria Crown Pigeons that are beautiful blue in color pretty large birds. Everybody's waiting to see if they're going to lay a egg cuz they've already made the nest ..

They peck the other eggs or move around the eggs to get the siblings to wake up and let them know it's time to break out and escape(it's cry but in reality it's a low frequency where only they can hear it,probably below the hertz scale)

Now we call you the chicken guru too? Love to see you having fun. Baby chicks imprint on the first moving big thing they see. I had baby ducks that followed me everywhere when I was a kid until my mom got tired of duck poop in the house. She banished them to the yard.

You can take some of them out of the incubator and move them to another nesting area: too many can cause competition from My understanding: as you can see personalities are being formed and addressed..and yes they can "Scribble up" like siren wrap if the embryo or embryonic fluid is disturbed 😳 And the food storage that is left on the chick under the belly is More than enough to keep them fed until you are ready to move them to raw grains etc.. You are right about the female storing the last Roosters sperm,and you are also about removing the rooster after he's bred the hen.. How much is the incubator?

You should look into Sapphire Gem chickens, they’re good egg layers and imo, are super pretty and cool looking. It would be interesting to see what the color combinations could look like!

Because a mother hen has to be Broody in order to hatch chicks and none of my hens are broody right now.
