You need to set a strict dollar amount and not go over it. You can't put yourself into financial ruin over a pet. I've had pets all my life and I understand how hard and heartbreaking this is. 😢

I totally understand about outrageous vet fees. Also about how much our fur babies get into our hearts. But remember to consider is it worth it to put them thru the treatments which are so hard on them. They are our innocents and we are responsible for whatever they experience in life. Best of luck.

Lord, what a horrifying Credit Card adventure! Right when you needed it! But it did give us a thrilling story to follow you so thanks for going through it. Side dog note. I have eight dogs, and I lose one about every year or so, and Dogs keep coming to me😁❤️. I’m the small dog lady. Even the Mail lady brings me dogs that she can’t figure out what else to do with. What a privilege for me to get to be their next home.😮 I think unless you have that best case scenario type of married love, nothing beats living alone with dogs or animals in general that you adore and are a good parent to. what a privilege it is to have to compromise with no one, and yet have all the love and constant affection and attention of animals! It is so sad that my girlfriend will not get another animal after her beloved pup was killed in front of her in a car accident, it’s unthinkable to me to live without them.

Sorry about Apollo not doing well. I understand you want to get whatever treatment done now. Had this been a normal week, I don't know if the situation would have been different. It's unfortunate that you picked the week of US Thanksgiving to drive to the US. I believe that played a bigger role in the delay in treatment. In the meantime, I would make the most of the time you're in the US, and have a US Thanksgiving dinner.

Definitely ask to see if they have any type of "compassionate care" reduction. See if there is and talk to the financial aid department.They won't offer unless you ask. Possibly they'll look at your earnings and do a sliding scale. It's worth a try. Best of luck to you and Apollo.

I'm so sorry you all had to go through this. I hope it helps your little one. The reason we no longer had a dog is because of the vet bills. Every time we went, it was over $200.00. If you needed something special done or any tests, the bill went way up. It's very sad. I hate to say this, but it's a royal rip-off. Our health costs for our own family is the same. Good luck.

I know about the cost for a dog. My mom took her dog (dalmation), which got diabetes and went blind. She had to go to one a hour away and they then told her to go Columbus (over 2 hours). Pets are like family and and all she had. My mom had to give it a shot every day. Hope it goes okay for you and Apollo.

I have an elderly dog that is beginning to experience the aches and pains of being old and slowing down and has a heart murmur and a cough too. But she still living a happy life but my family thinks that we need to do something to end her discomfort. I'm so proud of you for standing up to the animals rights and I hope you will trust that the members will help you over the hump and at least take the edge off of these unexpected expenses. Yay sister silki is taking us with her to the u.s. for a snowbird vacation!!! Here in Saskatoon today it’s “warm” -14c but two mornings ago it was -25c at 10am with wind chill-31c and in the last 9 days we received over half our yearly snowfall already in two dumps 42+ cm (16+in) ! The vet bills in Canada and the US are CRAZY , absolutely crazy, I lost my heart horse at the age of 25 due to incompetency here , 30k Dollars and they killed the horse with their stupidity

Vet suggesting more xrays and exam is a Trick to increase their profits. Even a dentist used that trick to increase cost which means more profits for them. I had xrays, but they say they need new xrays. They didn't and it cost me 2x as much for the dental work.
