To answer the question about why the names changed: People were able to modify their clients and install stuff that they could use to change their name. Since they were doing this after the name was selected, the name censorship wall was being bypassed. This meant that duplicate names and innpropiate/bigoted names could be a thing.

Swish • 69 years ago Yeah because in ps4 it’s difficult to change your name. I have a ps4. And I’ve never seen an inappropriate or bigoted name, because even if you put that, ps4 will be sure to change it or make the person that put that name take the consequences.

@@leandroperonrp I also think it was because the system they used was harder to emulate on PS4. Basic coding skills here, but from what I have heard the reason the name changes worked was because the server either saved or displayed the names using a language called HTML which is one of the main languages websites use. One of the other main languages websites use is JavaScript, and something you can do in a lot of circumstances is use JavaScript to modify attributes of HTML. So all it took was a couple lines of JavaScript to edit someone's displayed name to be the n-word. I can imagine that's a lot harder to do on a PS4
