He's not The original Hero. That honor goes to the progenetor Link that fought Demise's first invasion with Hylia from the Skyward Sword prequel story that, IIRC, came with Hyrule Historia.

That story isn't canon, but is presented as a possible interpretation of what went down back then. It's still likely that the hero who fought alongside Hylia was the original Link, but we'll probably never get concrete details on anything that happened prior to Skyward Sword.

First you have Skyward Sword. This was the first Zelda and the first Link. While it is probable that other potential vessels of the Goddess and the Champion were born prior to the events of Skyward Sword, it was not until that game that their souls were awoken, and not until its end that the curse of demise lays the foundations for the recurring cycle of reincarnation. Then you have all the other Zelda games prior to BotW. Then you have the ancient era seen in Tears of the Kingdom. While there is a solid argument that this may have occurred before other earlier Zelda games, it would not account for the Totk Ganondorf apparently have no power from the Triforce. This suggests that even the earliest eras of totk occur after the Triforce-related Zelda games, Then comes an unknown period of time. Then you have the Calamity Ganon incident of 10,000 years prior to botw in which apparently the Hero was one of, or somehow related to, the Zonai, whom by that point had likely been long extinct. Wether the ancient era of totk comes before or after previous Zelda games, we can safely assume that the 10,000 year ago incident was after all previous titles, given the technology level, and the fact Ganon's evil has taken an almost entirely disembodied form. Then you have a 10,000 year gap. Then you have Botw. Then totk.

You have to understand that after Ganondorf was sealed and his lingering hatred eventually gave rise to Calamity Ganon, it was this "Link" that rose up against it and with others using the Divine Beasts defeated the Calamity Ganon for the first time. However due to it's nature it would go dormant and reappear every 100 years or so. So thus the cycle would begin. The Calamity Ganon that destroyed Hyrule 100 years before BOTW was just the most recent reappearance of Calamity Ganon.

Also Calamity Ganon had been sealed an unknown number of times before the construction of the guardians and divine beasts, so costume hero could have been any of the heroes from those past sealings, or could have saved hyrule from a different danger altogether

Regarding the Ancient Hero's Aspect, that incarnation of Link most definately lived somewhere between the Flashbacks to what's Zelda is doing in the past and the present day of Tears of the Kingdom. However, if we were to look at both BoTW and ToTK's placement in the timeline. It is clear that King of Hyrule Rauru created his Kingdom long after both the three timelines had converged and Hyrule had fallen. This is because of how the timeline has everything which came before BoTW and ToTK be still canon, the original Hyrule Warriors is an execption despite how the three timelines in the series all converge. Plus to explain why the Rito and Zora can co-exist, please watch "How Sidon Accidentally SOLVED the Rito Question! - Zora History Explored" by Gossip Geist. It's a great video which gives a good reason as to why both races can co-exist.

I guess that Zonai hero appeared centuries or thousands of years after Ganondorf was sealed and protected that Zelda, most likely being one of the many owners of the Master Sword but we don't know how many times Calamity Ganon appeared. Hyrule Kingdom could be 50-60k years old or more and during all that time Zelda was a dragon and there was no remain left of Rauru's corpse either except the arm. I want to believe Rauru and Mineru made many preparations for the aftermath of sealing Ganondorf, including building the castle as a dam against the dark aura, which kind of corrupted over time until it became Malice and triggered the Calamity.

The Ancient Hero’s Aspect is by far the best costume/item in the Zelda series! And in case some of you do not know, he was depicted as the hero in the Calamity Ganon Tapestry where he and the princess sealed Calamity Ganon 10,000 years prior to the events of Breath of the Wild. I highly doubt he is a Zonai since Male Zonai like King Rauru has no tail. And they do not have red hair. He could be perhaps be a hybrid mixed bred of Hylian, Zonai and Gerudo. If so, does Mineru have any parnter before her spirit is moved to Zelda’s Purah Pad? If he isn’t a Hybrid mixed Bred, then he most of been from a different race way may of not known. Whatever the case is, one thing I am satisfied is the Ancient Hero is proof that not every Spirit of the hero being reborn throughout time has to be Link.

For what it's worth, remember that Sonia and Rauru must've had at least one child, so there was at least one Hylian-Zonai-hybrid, who knows, maybe that line split into the Hylian royal family and a branch that had more Zonai aspects. There's also that, while Rauru and Mineru are labeled the "last Zonai", we... don't really know for sure what happened to the rest of them, it appears that they're extinct, but at the same time, I'm pretty sure I recall the game stating that the other Zonai simply stayed in their place, implied to be the sky, but it could also be elsewhere, outside of Hyrule (like how there are other Zora-tribes outside of Hyrule), or the Sacred Realm perhaps, and that Rauru and Mineru are simply the last of their tribe that have come down to the earth... but wouldn't stay the last as a different tribe which the Ancient Heroes people belonged to would at some point come to inhabit the Faron-region. (which is also somewhat of a plothole, the Zonai of the Faron-region which iirc were stated to have existed until 10k years ago were supposedly a more "barbarian" tribe, or at least the barbarian armor would imply so, but they also clearly have ties to Rauru and Mineru, or at least their architecture has, considering the ruins are the key to reaching the Spirit Temple).

There are so many baseless "facts" about the Hero's aspect. Here's what is officially known. He's a previous hero like Link. Impa says you ALMOST look like the Hero from the tapestry. And that is it. He isn't a Zonai as far as anyone with eyes can see. The only confirmed Zonai we see don't have tails. We don't actually know exactly what he is. He does use Zonai gear, but anyone can find that gear and wear it. In fact it's basically the same outfit as the Zonaite Armor set, so that doesn't tell us anything. And to reiterate none of the Links are reincarnations of each other. They simply share the same sort of spirit deemed worthy by the gods/master sword. And I believe the devs mean spirit as in character of a person, not as in their soul.

That does make it more likely they will lean more towards those games for inspiration when it comes to the movie. @@TerranigmaQuintet Mario is a bit hard to compare as there's less lore depth and variety, more "gameplay segments" in movie format and Mario Kart did get a strong segment as its most successful entry, while the story was a mix of the whole series. BOTW/TOTK may definitely get a good portion of references with stuff like cooking, paragliding, travelling koroks, etc, but I expect the arc and theme to feel like a middle ground for all the games. It's as much a celebration of these series as a gateway to a rich library of games, some of which are still to be re-released on the modern platform.

This is what i think so far with the Ancient Hero: With the death of both King Rauru and his sister Mineru, is believed that the Zonai went exinct after that. BUT that will put a lot of questions on where this ancient hero came from.. I have an explanation: Is from a lost line of Zonai that, by the events of TOTK, was out of Hyrule, either somewhere in the planet or back in the heavens, and the red hair, implies a mix with the Gerudo (asuming all zonai are white or silver haired), and he may be that last of his kind. This also may be the first and only time the ancient hero is reborn in something different of a hylian.

Calamity Ganon in BotW is a byproduct of Demon king Ganondorf from imprisoning war. So it would be logical to presume this ancient hero existed AFTER Rauru sealed Ganondorf (plus there will not be a princess of Hyrule to beat the Calamity if Hyrule wasn't founded by Rauru yet), BUT then it is strange, that Rauru and his sister were said to be last zonai in Hyrule... I am a bit confused now.

I could be looking into the wrong direction of this, but I believe the Ancient Hero wasn't part of a different race at all, more so it's the physical representation of what the hero symbolizes. Instead of looking at it from a creature perspective, look at the design from a story perspective: The outfit has red hair, green skin, and blue eyes, as well as carvings of a boar, an owl, and a dragon. Red and the Boar symbolizing Power, Blue and the Owl symbolizing Wisdom, finally Green and the Dragon symbolizing Courage. It's appearance looks like a Zonai, but the conclusion for the hero to be one or for there to be a tribe of them wouldn't make sense considering it's been established that Rauru and Mineru were the only Zonai to come from the sky. Rather, this part of the design could be seen as the connection to the Zonai instead. It also looks dog/wolf-like in appearance, more likely harking back to the Hero's association to being a "guard dog" or said hero's relations to wolves (Twilight Princess). With all of this in mind, I believe it's not in the matter of what it was but what is: a particular part or feature (an aspect if you will) of the spirit of the Ancient Hero physically represented. An outfit/advanced suit of armor that the Ancient Hero wore, the same armor that the Link we know currently can now wear.

If the first Calamity is the OG aka the first, then Zelda in that time was Hylia, the Goddess that was mentioned in Skyward Swords, since Skyward Sword is the first of the franchise, & Zonai are descendants of Hylians, but Ganon would’ve been Demise instead, but then again he does look very similar to Demise

I had believed that the warrior depicted in the tapestry was some form of Ganondorf, that he himself resisted the Calamity at some point but ultimately failed. The figure even has tusks, for goodness sake. Wouldn't surprise me if that really was part of the original story but the writers scrapped it and put this fursona in instead.
