My SO and his brother did catch combo shiny hunting in let's go together since you can both throw a ball and it increases catching odds and i would watch them do that and get shinies it was so wholesome

This was such a fun badge quest video! Seeing all the different methods was real cool, and as for the question, I am also a Masuda method hunter. No real risk involved, just chill and watch some KZbin or shows or a stream while hatching eggs. It’s a nice, easy way of Shiny hunting.

We got another shiny hunter in our community :D I love egg hunting in nearly every gen, I love the suprise when an egg hatches and you see the sparkles. Been shiny hunting in Violet atm with shiny charm and outbreak reseting and have 150 shinys atm. I hope you enjoy it and great video!

I've put over 2000 hours of shiny hunting into the Let's Go games so I'd love to shed some light on the mechanics. In addition to the Shiny Charm and having a lure active, shiny rates for all spawns increase by 3 steps when you have a combo of 11, 21, and 31 respectively. Combos beyond 31 won't boost shiny rates BUT it can still be beneficial to keep the combo going. Each Pokémon can have its base Catch Rate (not shiny rate) increased in the game by 2 steps: once around 75 total caught, and once again around 100 total caught. You'll notice that the catch circle changes color to an easier rate indication from one encounter to the next. These catches don't need to be consecutive and the increases are permanent, so if you've already done this previously then you can stop at 31 for future combos of that Pokémon. This step won't help with shiny odds but it could prevent a failure so I usually do it for the first attempt of any hunt and then the benefits are there for all future hunts of that Pokémon. Lastly, having a combo for a Pokémon makes that specific Pokémon appear more frequently if it is a possible spawn. This doesn't affect the raw shiny rates, but if most of the Pokémon showing up on your screen are the one you're looking for, you have a better chance of finding your target without having to break your combo. An active combo also guarantees a higher IV floor for that pokemon, so it's usually a good idea to get a combo for the pokemon you're targeting. If your target has a very low spawn rate, you can get your combo up to 11 in the Go Park and then start your hunt with a boosted spawn rate, which can save an INCREDIBLE amount of time.

22:00 We did actually figure out how Let's Go mechanics work! Basically, the shiny odds do reach their maximum at a chain of 31, BUT the increased shiny odds only apply to the very next Pokémon that spawns in the chain! So you do actually need to continue catching them, but building up a chain then just staying in one spot is still a great way of hunting idly if you want to do something else :)

I think my favourite method, was Radar hunting in D/P/P. It was the first method I ever learned, by far the most tricky. I couldn't even tell you how many hours I spent absorbed into that method instead of working on Uni assignments!!

Before S/V, my favorite method is masuda method. Just because its so chill, so I can just spin on my bike while watching youtube then check and see if I got the shiny haha. Though I’m very unlucky, so I often go double or triple over odds. Though with S/V now, I prefer mass outbreak + shiny sandwich. Just because its so fast 😂 So more serotonin babyyyy

Ok, I’m going to just clarify how shiny hunting working with catch combos in LGPE. It was painful watching John and everyone get this wrong for 24 hours. It was originally believed because of data mining that a catch combo of 31 capped out the shiny odds of every Pokémon that spawned, but Anubis double checked it after PLA comes out and it turns out that the odds boost only applies to the next Pokémon that spawns but doesn’t actually go up. That means that for the best possible odds hunting a particular Pokémon, you should have the shiny charm, a lure up and keep adding to your chain or it won’t apply that boost. Jonestone explains it better in his catching every shiny in let’s go video but that’s the gist of it. Hope that clears it up.

I was fascinated by the process of watching somebody accept and develop a love for Shiny hunting while having no prior knowledge and being willing to start learning how by experimenting with as many different methods as possible. It's actually pretty funny for myself because while I am not going on a badge quest like you are, I've been hard at work trying to obtain all of the Shiny Eeveelutions through different methods for each of them. As of me writing this, I'm past halfway and I'm trying to go for what might just be the longest hunt I'm going to have for my Eeveelutions: Soft Resetting for Eevee at the Celadon Game Corner in SoulSilver. Anyways, I'm glad you're enjoying Shiny hunting! It's definitely not going to appeal for everyone, but when you sink enough time into a hunt, it truly feels like every Shiny Pokemon tells a story. Good luck with your Masuda method hunt in Platinum! I remember doing a Masuda method hunt for Charmander in Pearl, and it took me over 57 hours of play time to achieve, so that Pacharisu hunt is going to seem daunting, but you got this! 💚🩷
