I feel you on the "waiting" thing! I'm 32, wanted tattoos my whole life, and just finally started getting them in the last year-and-a-half-ish. Also, I agree that it's really nice having alt and nerdy stuff be more available/easier to get ahold of :) The way I've been stretching my ears (now that I'm into sizes where they aren't just stretching on their own) is to wrap my tunnels in plumber's tape (that super thin, soft, white tape with no adhesive so your body is unlikely to react to it) and just very slowly (like over the course of weeks or even months) increase the amount to tape until I'm up to the next size. For reference I'm currently at a 6g (4mm) in my good ear and a 10g (2.5mm) in my problem ear.

Yeah the same thing happened to me when I was 17 and dumb, did minimal research online, and listened to a friend's advice and she bought me a kit online. got to the point where it hurt to put an 8 into my right ear and I noticed the green and red around it :,) I do want to try to stretch my gears again someday but I may wait to go to a professional to get it done the right way.

I actually didn’t know there were half sizes! In my 20s I forced it and it worked but only so much. When trying to get to a 0 I had a friend try and push it through it was SO painful. 😖

This was so interesting to listen to, sorry about the beginning of your experience going bad! Glad you figured out something that works. As someone who had to stop wearing earrings because of infections, I understand the disappointment and pain. But luckily I repierced and am very careful about which metals I use. So far so good!

new video!! i just turned 20 recently and am also doing a bunch of things that i put off doing, i can relate a lot! im still struggling to not be super self-conscious, but even with some anxiety it feels so freeing dressing how i always wanted and getting the piercings i've always wanted too. i keep going back and forth on if i want to stretch an ear but this video kind of reignited my interest in it, i appreciate you sharing your experience and to do it safely :3

Oooof, yeah, have heard a fair number of horror stories of folks rushing through stretching and ending up with a similar issue to what you had (sometimes folks will end up getting a dermal punch done instead of waiting on the lobes to stretch). And I'd love to know what company you got your glass plugs from, not because I'm trying to stretch mine, I just like to have more jewelry options (I'm at a 0g and quite happy with the look). OH and I highly recommend silicone tunnels/plugs cause I've never had any issues with funky smells from them, and the tunnels are comfortable to sleep in

I also have the shrively ear xD But I don't really mind, since I only take out my plugs for cleaning, so I am the only one who catches a glimpse and otherwise you can't notice and it never troubeled me (stupid kid also thought a few months for 0-1cm would be chill xD)

Tw: gore The hell that was Clare’s made me remember the time when I had my piercings in and I was like 6 and I was watching tv and I was trying to get my earring out and struggling and I got fustrated and pulled and I ripped my earlobe in half lol. I bled a lot, freaked out my mom and myself and had to get stitches lol I can still feel where it seperated even almost 20 years later and the skin is healed over top

Try going up to a 14 then 12! It’ll be stretched enough you can still wear normal earrings but won’t have that issue!
