As a Chinese, I can say this video is right down our alley because boiling meat in soy sauce to get braised meat is one of our go-to in Chinese cuisine. In order to cut down the saltiness due to the soy sauce, we usually add rock sugar and other herbs and spices into the soy sauce mixture. The other herbs and spices are optional, but the rock sugar is a must. Not your fine powdered sugar, but rock sugar which is actually big rock chunks of sugar. It dissolves and melt slowly while boiling and simmering over low heat for a few hours to let the meat become fall off the bone tender and to let the flavours really soak into the meat. This works for almost all meats, but it is especially good with chicken and pork. Please give it a try.

Brilliant! This makes me feel really smart. The other day I got a really good deal on some shaved beef and I thought "Can I make something similar to bulgogi with what I have in my fridge?" I used soy sauce, Coca Cola, and Sriracha to marinade it for about an hour before I cooked it up in my seasoned cast iron pan. It ended up delicious!
@brockolee08156 күн бұрын
Let it marinade over night or prepare it in the morning and cook it for dinner. Those few hours more are worth it. Or, to make it even more tender, mix your liquids with corn starch to get a slurry. Let the meat sit in there for a similar time, at least two hours. Get it out the slurry and fry. You'll get something similar to the beef in chinese stir fry 😊

Hey guys. Coke and brisket is an old Eastern European Jewish recipe for baking brisket. It consists of lots of sliced onion on the bottom of a baking pan, Coke (sugar version), Lipton Onion Soup mix, garlic, ketchup, mustard and more sliced onions on top. Bake covered for 4 hours. This is a must try. After all, you know where pastrami comes from as well. BTW, during Passover, Jews can't eat corn. So during Passover, Kosher for Passover Coke is available with sugar as the sweetener.

I know we're supposed to promote Meater on this channel but if you have the money get the Typhur Sync Gold, it's a better product in every way except technically max temperature (950 F versus 1050 F. Meater thermometers have known QC and connectivity problems the company refuses to acknowledge and address. Meaters can't reliably connect through a grill lid. The Sync Gold can connect through a lid and a couple of trees to a base station over 50 ft away... and if you connect it to your wifi network of 2.4 GHz, your phone has access to it anywhere on your network. It's amazing. The only reason to get a Meater is price. I mainly post this so Meater might actually pay attention to complaints and work on their connectivity. You'll improve your sales! Connectivity is easily the NUMBER ONE issue that turns people away from your product!

Basically the first thing that every Chinese college student learns to cook when they're living alone for the first time is Coca Cola chicken wings. It works because Coca Cola has the ingredients to function as a quick and dirty base for a red braise (cinnamon, citrus oil, sugar). Just stir fry in some garlic and ginger then add a bit of sou sauce and cook until it turns sticky.

years ago it was thanksgiving and my friends and i didn't have anywhere to go. we were in navy barracks which you could think of as a college dorm type setting. so i bought a toaster oven so big that it was pretty much just a regular but small oven and and we made our own thanksgiving. growing up my family just put a little water at the bottom of the turkey pan and threw it in the oven; but when me and my friends were shopping for ingredients one of my friends was like "my family does basically the same thing but with pepsi." so even though i kinda had an eyebrow raised at the idea, we did it with pepsi and i thought it was good af! being it was a pricy oven we had a few more little holiday feasts like that, centered around the oven. we did the same thing with roasts a couple times for Christmas and new years and the pepsi was a good base for the pan every time. and i've kept it in my back pocket ever since. i've always been a coke over pepsi guy though. maybe i should try it with coke.

My family has a specia traditional l way for cooking brisket and whole turkey outdoors for special occasions that I think you should try out Guga. We first place 4 metal rebars in a square shape. On each of those 4 post thread with a chicken wire cylinder (this is where the hot coals will be placed) facing the center if the square. In the middle of the square we make a rebar tripod from which to hang the brisket or turkey (sometimes we will put a large flat rock underneath the meat to better absorb and conduct heat). Heavy duty aluminum foil is then wrapped around the outer 4 posts to create a kind of "aluminum tent" (if things are a bit chilly you can make an aluminum foil roof). Now put charcoal in each chicken wite cylinder, light it, and top off with fresh charcoal as needed. Most of the heat from the charcoal is redirected at the hanging meat and cooks it really well. Fantastic way to cook a huge piece of meat when you are camping or just can't be bothered bring a huge smoker or grill.

I've never braised a brisket in Coke before, but I have used it as a marinade for a smoked brisket. Growing up, when brisket was still a cheap cut of beef (RIP childhood), we would let our brisket soak in Coke for 48 hours before putting it on the smoker. The acid in the Coke helped break down the tougher fibers in the meat to tenderize it. I must stress though, Coke is by itself not a good enough ingredient. After soaking the brisket, you still have to pull it out of the fridge, dry it off, and season it with whatever rub you feel like.
