VR is also even easier to setup than triples as you just place a headset on compared to mounting 3 displays. Each to their own, but I just (literally) see VR to be an improvement over any display setup due to the 3D, sense of speed and presence that you'll never get on flatscreen.

Ive been racing with a 65" 4k TV 120fps for 2 years and Im happy, one crucial super important thing you need to do, is a "custom resolution", AMD adrenalin software has that option, in my case I made a resolution of 3440 x 1440, aspect ratio of 21/9, this put black bars on the top and botttom, reducing the vertical view just a little (like you say on ACC yo need to see huds) and the tv feels like a giant ultrawide screen.
@rarewhiteape10 ай бұрын
This is a good option, one which I’ve experimented with before. Another benefit is it’s not rendering the nearly useless dark pixels above or below the windscreen, giving you more FPS or a more stable frame rate. I used to race with a Sony 55” 4K TV and tried running it at 3840x1080 once, the same aspect as a super ultra wide. It was on my TV stand, so too far away to make it viable, but definitely worth doing on a 65” screen mounted much closer to you.

Still waiting to get the seat(a Mitsubishi Eclipse one my friends raved about), but the TV is on a separate stand with wheels that can get way up close to my rig and then wheel right back to its original position in less than a minute. Haven't raced with it so far, but I'll have higher FOV than the 45" 32:9 5210x1440 monitor I was really tempted to get. The superwide was $550, stand was $120. I did this a year and a half ago, bought a 55" 120hz tv and I'm happy. Hope to do triples with it soon, so I would have 180º and full immersion ... I believe that on of the great gains is that you see more in the bottom part of the car, you can align the steering wheel with the dashboard, make it fit inside the wheel and the position you drive become much more natural, in small screens you need to put the dash above the wheel and you are always looking to the ceiling ...

I’ve had a 43 on my rig since I first built it 5 years ago, the Playseat Sensation Pro has a built in mount. Running at 4K60 since I drive on Xbox though I’ve used it for work too (also 4K). For my needs it’s almost perfect, though I do have to tilt it down ever so slightly to get the view I needed. Another downside is that the bottom middle of the screen is obscured by the wheelbase and my dash, so for games like WRC which have menus down there I need to peer around. A big plus for console players is that it’s a 16x9 display with the feel of an Ultrawide, as Ultrawide isn’t supported on console hardware. If I was to do this again I would probably go for a 39 or a 40 (with 120fps or OLED), but I definitely agree with you that it’s a good solution for specific needs.

I added IR Tracker as a relatively low cost , and space effective alternative, to triple screens. I was considering buying a new, full size (55in) TV/monitor, for my rig, but decided to try a quest 3 instead. The Quest 3 has been an amazing and positive upgrade, definitely adding to my sense of realism. With some minor aftermarket upgrades, I have improved mask ventilation and added prescription modded lenses. I'm feeling pretty good with this setup. To make the larger TV/ monitor work, I 'll need to modify my rig a bit. But still might be worth it for when VR and my body just aren't getting along.

Sure it has its ups and downs, but still a good upgrade imo. Like the portion hidden behind the wheel. I find even on smaller screens when I do this to get a little annoyed at what I can't see in menus and replays etc, but during the race its actually great as it adds that immersion and doesn't feel like there is just a cutoff point in front of you. Feels more like you are in a cockpit. So yeah overall a Win I would say.

I think that whatever suits you best is a win. I myself am struggling to decide between single ultra wide, VR headset or triples, I don't have the space for triples, and the ultra wide costs as much as the Quest 3, VR is much more demanding and hardware dependant, but costing the same as an ultra wide, at least it opens up the opportunity to play other titles in VR, while the ultra wide would be way easier to run but it would only be used for sim racing as I have one monitor that I would use for gaming and general use. There's also the issue that I have no idea if I would get motion sick from VR, but if I pay 500 bucks on it, I'll force myself to use it anyway

Next normally the Nvidia control panel would load and put and icon for the control panel in the notification area that didn't happen. Normally I would access the Nvidia control panel or display setting by right clicking on the desktop and selecting the option from the menu, but that didn't work either, what you happen is the desktop would momentarily turn blue and the go back to the desktop no right click menu would show up. But boy did I have a hard time finding a suitable display replacement that can match an OLED's picture quality, HDR, and response time. Settled on the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7, which as a previous Samsung QLED TV owner, I already know has its problems.😒 But I also still want to play other games like Alan Wake 2, games that are really dark, and I don't want them looking all gray and hard to see in shadows, so I didn't want to go with a cheaper IPS panel, either ...

I use triple 32s and of course I see the excitement in one giant tall screen. I primarily focus on the main screen anyways. For content creation you did the right thing.

I switched from a 34” ultrawide to a 50” 120hz TV and I don’t regret it. For me it is a perfect balance between immersion and competitiveness. If I want more peripheral vision I just increase the FOV a little bit when I’m competing, but the immersion and pleasure of pure driving, never is accomplished with an even bigger ultrawide monitor.

I use a 65" LG for my experience on a similar wheeled monitor stand as you. It's great. Also use VR too, but big screen TV's are a big W.

big screen immersion bonus: +50HP and a slipstream perk The only issue with them is the fps and or price for higher fps.s. something like lg.s C1 is vastly superior to my samsung 42inch locked at 60fps but ill take it. Difference in price is also something to take into account - almost twice the price when c1 were new.

I have a 48" gigabyte aorus monitor, absolutely love it, problem is I keep my eyes out for some cheap 48" oled tvs to mount on the sides, turns out it's a really odd size for oleds, and the new ones are all more expensive than just buying 2 more of the gigabyte screens lol

Seems way way too low - the general wisdom is to have your eyes level with the centre-line of the display. As for the display itself - I run a large 16:9 screen and think it works superbly well for sim-racing. My setup is a 60" 100Hz, 4K, HDR TV.

2:55 there was nothing stopping you from increasing the FOV on the ultra wide and you could have gone even wider with the ultra wide and see more.
@randomcallsign10 ай бұрын
without changing hardware, not possible. unless you go for a wider virtual fov, then there are other problems and distortions. physically, I had the UW screen pretty much at the top of the wheel shaft to the point I had to move it back so my fingers wouldnt snag it while shifting.
@Steve30x10 ай бұрын
@@randomcallsign your talking about physical gov I'm talking about changing fov in the game. There was nothing stopping you setting the gov wider so that you can see as wide as you can see on the TV. You can get 38" , 40" and 45" ultra wide monitors too which are a much better option.

@@Steve30x a 55" 16:9 screen has virtually the same hFOV as a 49" ultrawide (32:9) screen. A 55" TV is pretty close to 2x 49" ultrawides placed on top of each other. A 55" TV gets you the same hFOV as a 49" ultrawide plus gives you a load of extra vFOV which helps with immersion.

Is burn in not an issue? Also, would it not make more sense to just use the TV like a 49" monitor? The width is virtually identical, so why not ditch the pixels at the top and bottom and just render a letterbox in the middle of the screen that would give you more of the side windows?
@randomcallsign8 ай бұрын
Burn in its not an issue. No, it wouldn't make more sense. Removing top and bottom, would do just that. The eyes fov is still the same and at the end the result sideways is the same, minus the top and bottom pixels and the lack of curvature.

@bartjandejong941210 ай бұрын
The G9 ultra wide has an width of 115cm and this 55 inch is 123cm so this tv has more or same FOV compared to the ultra wide samsung. YES it had different aspect ratio but this its the same width so you just missing out on all the screen that is above and below it would be on this tv. All i am trying to say, so many people think ultra wides have higher fov but this is not true. Its all about the width that can make ur fov higher. Upper and lower is just an extra you get (and cost more pixels). If i am wrong please explain.
@randomcallsign10 ай бұрын
you can get a UW really close to the steering wheel. that means, comparitevely, a ultrawide monitor has more fov per inch than a TV. Though, the TV, because of the size and distance to the eyes, will feel more lifelike.

Ok nvm that's amazing, W. Don't forget to use the BFI mode if the TV has it. Few people knows about this but TVs with a such a display mode have a huge advantage of motion clarity over gaming monitor. Black frame insertion specifically, NOT motion smoothing as that will increase lag and looks terrible anyway, black frame insertion has next to no downsides so use it.

cant you fix the 1440p problem, by making the tv run in 3840x1440p and run native 1440p? you would lose some vertical sure, but gain fps.

Are you running 1440p native? When I was running a 4k display on ACC I set resolution to 4k and then set resolution scale to something like 80%, means UI elements remain sharp and output resolution is crisp, but to be fair I didn't try 1440p native to compare
