If you do a build. I vote for a flip series. You got 1k into purchase. Set a budget. Fix it up sell it. Show the process of deciding what parts you chose an why. Even show dealing with potential buyers. Then take the money you make from it and buy or trade up. See if you can go from a 99 to a 24 model year of machine

I bought a 23 kx250 as well, i won’t lie i wanted to pick up a 2 stroke 250 and clean it up to have the 4stroke and 2stroke option. So that’s my vote 🤣

Absolutely loved my 2001 KX250 (same as a 99). Won a lot of races, broke a few bones but my skill really progressed on that bike. Learned to ride FMX on it, only blew it up once and I am looking for another 99-02 KX just to have. I run YZ250's now but miss that Kawi!!

Hey Matt, nice quad but I wanted to tell you that it’s a TERRIBLE idea to hit the throttle when trying to start those 450s. They’ve been known to actually blow the bottom end out when you try to start it that way. Awesome quad!!

@@bryceparmer4546 yes I know about the kick back. they put a sticker on the thumb throttle in 2007 saying to not do that. This bike is going to need new intake valves. I still have all the oem internals for the starter assembly. I'll probably install all new while im in there.

Thats in good shape in 2010 guy in my welding class sold me a 98 kx250 for 200$ I held that thing wide open every time I rode it for about 3 months before it blew up I was impressed with it

Sounds to me like the valves are out of adjustment those TRX450s are famous for the valves getting tight on them it shouldn't roll over so easy when you're trying to start it The reason it will bump start is because the motor gets spun over faster than what the starter can do and it disengages the decompression so my professional advice to you just do the valves it probably has the decompression tight on it and you can adjust the decompression on those bikes they say adjust it to a certain spec but the best way to do it is adjust it till you have 60 lb compression cranking with the starter and you will have no issues

You can tell the condition on whether or not the bike has been beat on by checking underneath the engine on the bottom of the frame if it's all dinged up or not .

Valves need to be shimmed. Also should never give 450s gas when starting them. 2 pumps of throttle then start. Also could need to be jetted a little better.

2008 kx450sr for $600 bro this one cannot be beat lol. I started off with a 01 kx250 2 stroke sold it for $2500 bought some ttrs for $500 resold for $3k a piece up $6,000 found a 2002 yz250f for $600 and traded it for the 2008 kx450sr been dancing ever since lol. Found a 2021 yz250 2 stroke for 2,000 and that’s been the worst buy ever. It keeps breaking. Only buying kx450s from now on.

Wow wee if youse guys could get me a kx250 2 banger as a project bike that would be all I need to finish my bike collection!! If there's anyone out there wanting a CR250 1997 model first of the alloy frame models!! I do have here to do clean swap for a kx250 project build if there is anyone out there that's keen then hit me up as I have the whole complete bike not a part missing but is a project/basket case bike that needs building!! Well it's only the motor that really needs building as the rest of the bike is still altogether, well rolling frame but only needs a full motor rebuild as been in storage for about 7 years now!!
