As an employee at a gamestop the second it said "content is blocked by family settings" that just made get pretty pissed. Not only are employees supposed to wipe the system (which it clearly wasn't), but are also meant to remove all parental blocks on consoles. If the customer doesn't remember the code to unlock it we can't take the system in. The employee who took it in is beyond incompetent. (Edited to remove grammatical errors that I noticed)

The dirt is usually just an accumulation of debris over time, sadly most people don't clean their consoles. As for the scratches, the thing was SHIPPED in the (presumably) US postal system, WITHOUT PADDING. It's entirely possible the shell wasn't scratched when it was returned but absolutely mauled by the shipping process. I got off lucky. I got a 4GB model off of eBay in fairly similar shipping conditions, albeit without any accessories, and it arrived basically perfectly. I'm surprised GameStop would even consider shipping something like that. It's sad that an eBay purchase arrives in better condition than an order from a huge corporation

To remove the scratches you can always use automotive plastic polish to buff them out. Just be careful around the vents.

You can remove the family settings by performing a factory reset in the system info settings! Press LT, RT, X, Y, LB, RB, Y ,Y, left(d-pad), down (d-pad) in the system info, and a option to factory reset should appear.

My father recently sold our family home, and I had sold my Xbox 360 a while ago to a buddy (for $40 with a ton of games, probably would have got more at GameStop lol) it was that black Xbox but without scratches. Your carpet is the exact same and it’s really putting me in my feelings from back when I used to come home from school and load that bad boy up and play some red dead redemption or GTA story mode because we had bad WiFi. I probably haven’t held a 360 controller in a few years and I really miss back in the day when our family was happy and I didn’t worry about things. If I wanted something to eat I’d go get it from the pantry, if I wanted a new game my dad would get it for me. I’m tearing up thinking about how I would wake up early to play before school.

Those scratches might come out with a scratch remover or abrasive wax for automobiles. I had a shiny black TV stand for my TV that was sold to me all scuffed up. I used my car’s scratch remover and some wax and it came out looking like brand new.

All you need to do to reset family settings is register the system on the xbox website, then go to the system options and there's a button that says get system reset code or something like that. Then just go to the system info screen and enter that button combo.

I had the same problem when I bought a "refurbished" Wii U from them. They didn't even reset the console at all. It had like ten accounts on it and had parental controls. I had to use an exploit just to use my console fully.

To factory reset the Xbox 360, and parental controls, go to Console Info (Settings>System>Console Settings>Console Info) then press the X button 2 times very fast then quickly press the up button 2 times on the D-pad and quickly the down button on the D-pad 2 times. Then a menu will pop up and follow the on-screen instructions.

Back in 2010 I'm being a cheapskate by buying Just Cause 2 used copy for $55 from Gamestop instead of getting a brand new one for $60. And the game released barely a month ago and the used copy was not in good enough condition. That was my first time in Gamestop and I got ripped off right away,I learned my lesson hard.

You have to add that consoles imei number on your Microsoft account and there click on that console and option of reset family settings

so to remove the parental control code, you just have to... write to Microsoft support! yes it really works, they will ask for the serial number of the console and send a combination of buttons in response which you will have to enter in the menu..

Start by going to the SYSTEM tab and select CONSOLE SETTINGS. Scroll all the way down to the bottom and select SYSTEM INFO. When you open up this screen, just hit these buttons in this order: LEFT TRIGGER, RIGHT TRIGGER, X, Y, LEFT BUMPER, RIGHT BUMPER If it doesn't work right away, just try it again. A screen should pop up asking you if you would like to reset the settings. This won't delete your profile or anything so select YES. The XBOX will restart itself and it will then ask for the language and country again. Next it will ask for info on the pass code. Choose the rating you want the code for and then input your new code.

When the system info box comes up type in this sequence: LT RT X Y LB RB Y “Left Stick in” (press it in) Y Y A box should come up and say, "Would you like to reset the console to the factory defaults?" Click Reset and you’re done! Doesn't work maybe it's a different combination, just Google it.

For family settings code go to system info and enter in a button code for your type of xbox 360 and it will factory reset to where there's no code and if you have content on your hardrive take it out before hand
