Makes sense considering they like to upgrade the bikes they get as well. Getting a sv650 or ninja 400 and upgrading it for track use makes more sense than slapping a full exhaust on a rebel 1100

I have three Ducs with another on the way. The 999 is my favorite to ride as a mixture of front-end feel and (relative) comfort. Simple enough to work on yourself, and everything just seems to be where you expect it on the handlebar and dash. They are cheap for what they are, go for the 999S if you can find one. Also have a 1299S with the aluminum airbox frame, despite being "better" in every measurable way, not sure it actually feels better to ride. Faster for sure (same hp as 851 & 999 combined!) but not sure it is better.

It's a shame motorcycle's don't have the sex appeal they used to, can you imagine if it did and you owed a 1098. We can dream Seriously tho, as a 1098 owner, this bike is incredible, bone stock. I would love to adress that the servicing isn't as hard to do yourself as the receipt from your shop suggests. You just need 2 of them to cover the down time

Awesome bike. I bought my 1098s last year and had to rebuild it ground up. The biggest positive modification ive personally done is deleting the charcoal canister as it smooths the bike out so much through the lower range, helps a lot on track. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Thats a beautiful specimen!! I remember riding a 749 in the same yellow. Such a raw ride back in the day. Was a great demo day with the Ducs and the Daytonas. Long story short, my azz hurt after the 749. I walked away with the Triumph and its gel seat!! Not to mention saving about 10k 🤣🤣😎

I do miss the feel of my old, 2005 monster 620. I absolutely love my FTR and the power difference over the 620, but that old school feel with the cable throttle and arrow exhaust was awesome.

Stunning bike - I've never been a superbike fan, but even as a kid I loved this thing. Maybe you should open yet _another_ category - real classic bike giveaway, where you pick up bikes that are already classics rather than modern classics or future classics. I'd recommend a BMW r65 (or an R65LS if you can find one) as a starter - it's an absolutely excellent bike - or perhaps a mental two stroke twin, like an RD350LC or something.

To be honest, I never understood why Ducati didn’t just gave this bike the Panigale engine and freshen it up a bit with LEDs/electronics and stuff. It looks so much better and does not have that weird Brezel 🥨 looking exhaust pipe making a turn under the seat like the panigale had. IMO the best looking Ducati period, just take that big L 998 lovers.

I currently have a 2017 ZX10R and last year, one of my clients wanted to sell me his yellow 2008 1098 with 4000 miles on it. I had to dig through my photos on my phone to see if it was the same bike that’s in Yammie’s shop right now. It isn’t, but it’s identical except for the $5000 full titanium exhaust that my client put on his. I’m a daily rider and I felt bad knowing I wouldn’t be preserving what he had preserved so I didn’t buy it.

I'm with you on giving the older bikes a try. I have a 959 panigale as well as a Honda vfr400r nc30. And although the little Honda make around 100hp less than the 959, its just as much, maybe a little more fun to ride, and you're not even in the realms of prison time speeds.
