I don't own one of these bikes nor any motorcycle new from China, but from what I have read, it is a "best practice" to drain out all the oil from the factory and replace it with quality new oil prior to starting the engine the first time. Also, adjust the valve lash and use a threadlock type product (Locktite) to perform any required assembly.
@brandonlee710 Жыл бұрын
Just bought one of these bikes, what type of oil do you recommend?
@hanzdidit Жыл бұрын
You are 100% correct do you want to change the oil directly when you get your bike, I will usually start them to make sure they start up and then the next step is to change the oil. I made a separate video on how to do this, then my wife had a baby and I am not had time to edit it and post it. I will get to it soon thanks for watching.

You couldn't be more right. I had a Venom motors I bought for my son all the way back in 2004. The first thing I did was drain the oil and I can't even describe fully what came out. The oil looked like regular cooking oil with a green tint and what appeared to be graphite floating in it.

Boom! is the US subsidiary of Baodiao. They have been selling the very popular Grom-like-vehicle (GLV) called the Vader for several years. They decided to get into 'full' size bikes with their 250-class bikes such as what you bought. Several distributors re-label them as their own, such as 'X-Pro' but they are all the same bike. The big advantage that Boom! has over many other Chinese brands is they have CARB certification for their GLV lineup, as well as their 'full' size bikes such as the above bike you have, and they are releasing a dual-sport through Amigo Motorsports which uses the same 229cc engine and is also California legal.

@@anythinggarage There are quite a few California legal Chinese bikes out there, but most seem to be offroad products. Definitely not the same amount of choices as are available to most other states (some other states have adopted California standards). Especially when it comes to dual-sports. There are a fair number of Chinese street/cruiser bikes, which Boom/Baodiao (such as the discussed bike) have released recently that are CARB legal, not to mention the dual-sports that are now available under the 'Amigo Motorsports' name manufactured by Boom.

Hey Hanz - looking forward to more about this red street bike. FYI Powersportsmax/xpro (whom fulfilled your order) took care of me on my Hawk DLX leaky rear brake caliper (porous casting). They were very good about quickly sending a replacement, and I'm sure they will do the same for your damaged part. I have been very impressed with them. My GF likes the Hawk DLX so much she wants one for herself, but its too tall for her... Have you considered obtaining a Lifan Xpect to add to your collection and review? Understand the Lifan is about 3.5" shorter than the DLX, and is also an EFI bike.
@hanzdidit2 жыл бұрын
I have a new video coming out hopefully next week, riding this bike. I took a look at the Lifan Xpect end it is definitely interesting. I will definitely try to do a comparison to the hawk DLX asap. Thank you for letting me know about this bike. I hope you like the video, thanks for watching.

As a rule most bikes can be lowered by motorcycle shops. Of course ground clearance / suspension travel is reduced. A realistic easy three to four inches can be expected.
@DIYEricAZ Жыл бұрын
@@kirstenspencer3630 I found there is plenty of clearance on the Hawk DLX to go lower (there is not much overall travel to begin with) and can obtain shorter rear coil spring assemblies online. However, I did end up snagging a lifan xpect to add to my collection. Its quite a bit of fun (shorter and lighter than the dlx). There is a lot to compare and contrast between the dlx and xpect - maybe I will put together a video

I know this video is now 4 months old so I may not get a reply, but here goes anyway. My state requires that the MCO be notarized by the dealer/seller, for the state DMV to process the paperwork for registration. If you buy from Amazon do they notarize the MCO? Thankyou
@hanzdidit Жыл бұрын
All of the ones that I have taken to the DMV have not given me any trouble there's a stamp on them but I'm not sure that is a notarized stamp. Every single one and taking him to get played it took me less than an hour in and out. They give you plates for four years the first time you register the bike and then I'll send you the title after a month or so. I have not had any problems yet, hopefully this is helpful. hey Hanz Im super interested in getting a hawk or one of theses bikes from amazon. It would be my first bike. Do you think i could get one of these or the hawk 250 and keep up riding with some friends on the street that have bigger bikes? also are you going to have some videos riding this and its top speed?
@hanzdidit2 жыл бұрын
I think that this would be a great first bike, depending on the style of bike you like there's also the KPM 200 that is super easy to write and I highly recommend and would be a great trainer as well. These bags are not going to keep up with your friends on bigger bikes but if they are good friends the will hang with you and help you out. As i was saying these bikes are a great way to learn. I would not just run out and grab a big bike before learning the basics on something smaller. There's a lot to think about when you're learning how to ride, you have clutch, 2 brakes one hand and one foot, throttle, gears to shift. Then there's the physics of actually riding the motorcycle. I think if you start with something like this you will become a good rider. Learn the basics first and then you can upgrade. Have fun and be safe.
@michaelb.42112 Жыл бұрын
Why don't you buy a used Japanese bike ? It would cost the same, and be 10 times more reliable, but I get the novelty of having a brand new bike shipped to your front door. The only benefit I see is you will learn how to work on bikes, because nearly every part will need attention, BUT the welds are sus. I would NOT trust these bikes after a certain amount of miles to be safe. I could be 100% wrong, I'm just expressing a Devil's Advocate point of view.
