My girlfriend makes epoxy jewelry and puts thing inside before hardening like flowers and insects. I think it would be awesome if you could make another epoxy guitar that is sort of a timecapsule by putting stuff like a small pocket watch or pictures or anything really inside of the body before it hardens, could be an even more amazing guitar to play with memorabilia inside of it.

Duuuude that would be so sick! What a great way to memorialize a guitar player who passed, as well. A guitar made of important items from their life. Damn. I’d ball my eyes out every time I’d play a guitar like that. Such a genius idea.

Neat idea. I don't know how well real entrails (like from a hog, chitterlings are easy to get) would stand up inside an epoxy guitar. Almost any hard or chemical glue tends to be a natural microbialstat. Any oxygen-dependent microbes would not grow, since there is no way to get oxygen in or out or to colonize beyond where they already are or where glue cannot reach. But then what's encased in the glue where the glue cannot reach could colonize and decay, and gases could build. I don't know, maybe install one vent or 2 in a V for aesthetics, and then after a couple of weeks, inject it or glue a plexiglass dowel in the vent. Or maybe bake the entrails before encasing them. Just thinking. But really, a better option might be to make fake guts out of colored silicone, fill that with epoxy, and then once it dries in a desired shape (such as serpentine, then encase that). Or for even less work, encase a rubber snake inside. Do the gore theme with the colors. For metal, anything with blood, guts, gore, snakes, or rodents, or skulls might work. And hell, if you want to go more gothic/punk, I imagine some plastic bats inside could work. You know, maybe a black neck, mostly clear body with bats, and maybe gore (blood or vampire theme), and maybe some purple (associated with vampires). Throw in some glitter too if that fits the theme or the entertainers wear glitter makeup. I wonder how bugs would do. Like killing some roaches with chemicals, then waiting a few days until they are crispy and any microbial activity has ceased, then encasing the dead bugs. Maybe Chinese cockroaches (water bugs) would be candidates.

Ah finally, a video where my painting experience can help. When you pour 2 light colors, like yellow and grey, against eachother, they’re going to mix into one color. That’s why only the red came through in the end. You need contrasting colors, like light and dark, or hot and cold. Hopefully next time (maybe next video) the other one will come out more to your liking.

I'd be really curious how you'd tackle a mold for a one piece guitar (neck + body a single piece), something like what Aristides does. That could have serious functional benefits as well on top of the aestetics. Really cool build though as always!

I think that would be cool but complicated. Especially when it comes to putting in frets and making sure the neck is straight and doesnt warp or bend when the strings go on -- I mean it shouldnt warp or be warped because epoxy is strong but I still think theres a lot that could go wrong if the mold isnt right.

Gorgeous work as always! I have had the best success with 3D color separation using Alumalite Amazing Clearcast, and the mold was about 6 inches deep in the thickest spots and no cracking occurred. That would be a lot of epoxy in one go for a guitar build, but Alumalite also has a deep casting resin I have yet to try.

Great work as always. I've not done epoxy work before but have been researching for a few future ideas. It's my understanding that if you want swirly-but-separated colors, you have to let the epoxy just barely begin to set before pouring into the mold and then swirling. Looking forward to more attempts!

Rybonator here on KZbin makes resin dice. He typically uses water or alcohol based dyes injected straight into the clear resin to get the floating colors effect. Idk if it'd work for such a large piece tho. You could reach out for advice and he might be able to help out with knowledge.

If you're going to float colours in clear you will need to do it in multiple stages with each setting up like your old method. Pouring it in unset will just lead to what happened with weird sinking and mixing. A cool way would be to make a releasable silicon insert in the middle so you could pour beside and around the insert then take it out when it cures so you'd have a hollow middle to pour into.

The secret to what your trying to achieve is to let each layer dry first. Ive done the epoxy 3D art. If the clear first layer dry then you add you color. Let that dry then add more clear to the level you want. You can add as many layers as you want. Just let them dry.

I wish you could experiment with a mixture of things ... for example: a guitar or a bass with bodies made of a mixture of epoxy resin ... graphite ... aluminum ... rustic wood ... And another idea is a transparent resin mold to put toy figures (perhaps shaking hands ... hugging ... swimming in the transparent or sea blue epoxy resin ... Another idea: is to bring to this future the concept of the Westone The Rail electric bass ... To the bodies of guitars or basses ... give them new shapes ... figures ... everything that can occur to you or your followers ... Kind regards from Madrid (Spain)!

tips for trying to rget the look you wanted with resin, let the first layer cure enough to the point where you ca still mix into it, but the resin itself isnt free flowing, let it get pretty viscous. thenadd your colours on top and youll even be able to mix them a bit. Rybonator who make resin dice has some good videos on it.

From what I have heard from channels that do a lot of that 3d color in epoxy resin stuff, you let the clear resin thicken like you did in the second one, then mix with the stick like you did in the first one. If the clear is about as thick as honey when you add the color, the design will mostly stay in place.
