Word of advice from a machinist if your going to do what you did with a flap disc grab a 100 drill press from harbor freight and strap the grinder to it so you can adjust the height and hold it or a car scissor jack ideally a shopsmith would be great but a home made surface grinder works well

that "creaking" sounds like a blend door issue, not the actuator but the door hinge itself, maybe they are completely dry (no grease on it) after being left without use for so long, every time you start the truck the hvac resets them when you turn the ignition to power acc

Tuxmat is all we use in our shop cars, daily’s, etc at our shop. Hands down the BEST mats easy to clean and Utah winter doesn’t do anything to them. Seriously. Cannot recommend them enough. Better than 3D and weather tech. Tux makes them look like Amazon bs.
