I caught the BIGGEST Bonito of all TIME! | Landbased Fishing Australia

In this episode, I head down to my local rock ledge from the headlands of Botany Bay in Sydney Australia primarily to target pelagic species such as Kingfish & Bonito on top water and jigs. Although it was the end of season for Bonito we still managed to score a few. During the end of season the bonito numbers reduce but the size of the fish get bigger. I managed to get my personal best bonito measuring 70cm which I was stoked about, I just wish they were always this size haha! It was a beautiful day on the water with low swells, which gave me some time to explain some rock fishing safety. Hope you all enjoy the video!

Great video. Lot to learn from your uploads. How deep is that ledge? Just wandering what time in the morning the gates open. Do you fish that area only near low tides?

Hey mate, thanks for the kind words glad you enjoy the video. About 6-11m based on your casting distance. I fish different areas near there if I cant cross, it can become sketchy on a high tide unless its an opposing swell direction. Hope that helps!

Waste of a fish letting it sit in the sun in a rock pool. Bleed n gut straight away buy a coles woolies chiller bag with two ice bricks or some frozen water bottles in it. Dead animals need to be refrigerated asap

Thanks mate, if you can see my bag its soft chiller esky backpack. I keep an ice brick inside. I bought it for this reason because hate carrying additional items. I also have an hard esky with 4 ice bricks in my car also. I bleed the fish right away & left at sunrise this session 👍

@@kamadowoah4584 thanks mate I agree. I prefer the taste of Bonito over kingfish. But prefer the kingfish firmness. My kids love Bonito. One 55cm one fed both my toddlers alongside veggies, salad & rice. The yield is quite great from them and super sustainable 👌
