If you live in Colorado or some place that is cold, your shower water becomes cold as ice near winter. It's below 30 outside right now and I've taken ice showers with something I made years ago in Florida, and this is colder, and I can stay in it for more than a few minutes since there is no melting ice. Sitting in a tub of ice water can be cold, but if you stay inert and don't move the temperature of the water right around you warms up. Keep moving to keep the water circulating to get maximum cold.

So, is it better to do the cold plunges before you exercise? I'm almost 63 and my health is not good! Hey, but I came up with an idea for preparing the cold plunges at pennies on the dollar! All I'm going to do is take 4 clear plastic containers and cut them in half and use tap water and freeze them overnight in my fridge. Then, I will fill my bathtub with water (which is tap water) and then drop the frozen container in the tub and then let the torture begin! I'll let you know how it works out! Thanks for sharing!

I can totally understand what you mean. Every time I take an ice bath, after about half a minute I am overcome with total calm. It's like a reset for my mind and body. Afterwards I have a high for hours. Your idea with the trash can is good, but they're a bit too narrow here. I use a rain barrel from the DIY store, which works better than the inflatable ice barrels. Making your own ice cubes every day is too time-consuming, so far I've been using cooling batteries/ice packs. I'll give the water bottles a try too. Thank you for this video

I was skeptical about cold baths as well. But, I started doing them in January. I used to have trouble sleeping but now I do 30-45 minutes in my sauna and I go from the sauna to my ice bath, which I am now up to 6 minutes in, and my mood is so relaxed and happy after. This is unusual for me, I’m normally a worrier. I sleep like a baby too. I have been using the Rubbermaid tub for months. Now that it’s getting warmer in MA I am looking at upgrading to a chest freezer. All my aches and pains are gone. I am not sore after going to the gym anymore. I tell everyone about ice baths and everyone thinks I’m crazy. But I don’t see myself stopping.

Thank you for your testimonial, I realised that I was becoming chilled, and I wasn't exercising any more, and before I heard about cold baths and Iceman... . I started doing 3 things (perhaps a good preparation for ice baths): 1/ Take cold showers (16.5°C, and as winter arrives it goes down even further 🙂 after a few minutes I don't feel the "cold" any more) 2/ Walk to work rather than take the bus (after the one hour car journey) 12mn walk in a T-shirt, bare arms, no bonnet or gloves, just an umbrella just in case 🙂 (I've had 8°C and 6°C from time to time and after 10mn walk breathing as calmly as possible I didn't feel the cold any more and it became pleasant). I lowered the air-conditioning in the car to 18.5°C (I was at 22/23°C) for the 2 times an hour's drive I have to make every day. My relationship with the cold has changed radically in 7 weeks, during which I haven't caught a single cold. I'm looking forward to the cold of winter, even if the first few minutes are always a bit tricky. I'm dreaming of taking ice baths, even if it's a bit of a shock compared to what I'm doing now.

As someone with chronic pain from a 2 year old hip injury (severe TFL an oblique strain), and as someone with ADHD and a job that requires a lot of focus and energy(personal trainer), they’re helping. The dull ache in my hip I’ve been dealing with improved after the first plunge. Now I’m a week in and I’m noticing that even on the days I don’t plunge, the ache isn’t nearly as bad. Joints that used to be stiff feel like they’ve been cleaned up and move more freely. My speculation as to why this is, is the increased blood flow after getting out. My injured muscles are fine now, they work great. However the joints they work around have still been inflamed, and I think cold plunge is helping to both “squeeze” the inflammation out, and then wash it away with the rebound blood flow. Also the mental clarity and focus have helped my ADHD and energy. I had 3 clients tell me I seemed peppy & on point this week. I’m gonna keep it up and see where it goes!

How long do you stay in When you started and also now? Have you noticed that it helps you sleep? Sounds like you do it each morning.

Today is day 245 in row for me. I love the cold. I started in January, breaking ice to get in. So I love when the water is in the 30s

I’m on day 10 of quitting weed. For some of us it’s hell. Every time I get in the shock makes you forget about the withdrawals, it’s not pleasant for the first minute. Hang on there for 5. Get out, try not to put a towel to dry you up, let the body come back to normal temperature and it’s magical what it does. You fight pain with pain.

Makes a huge difference but you have to stay consistent; like twice a week and then not take off a few days. Conistency is key avoiding salt and alcohol even better.

You are gonna feel like you are having LITERALLY a heart attack. For around 30 seconds. Focus on your breathing. And direct your thoughts to assurance that in 1.5 minutes everything is gonna get better. This is coming from someone that showers with scorching hot water

In my experience with cold plunging in 37°, the only real unpleasantness are my hands and feet aching. But you endure it for 3 to 5 minutes and it's done. You feel amazing for three to five hours. There's no rule you have to plunge in near freezing water for the first time. Submerge in cold water from tap, fill your bath tub to a nice novice 60 degrees, that's how I started. You'll still reap benefits from that as well - do it daily while saving up for a Galvinized steel water trough you can fit in and a water chiller, I recommend Nuvio.

Very few people are comfortable being uncomfortable and the feelings you get afterwards, not necessarily just a cold bath. Spending most of your life being comfortable is not a very fulfilling life in my humble opinion ❤ ❄️
