Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I know for me, entering this new phase of life and all the changes that come with perimenopause; skin changes, body changes, hair changes, can sometimes leave me feeling like I don't recognize or feel like myself. It's so helpful to know I'm not the only one who feels that way and that I am not alone. Thank you for that! Getting older is absolutely a gift. But sometimes the changes that come along with it, you don't always expect or anticipate. The transition to menopause is WAY more than just hot flashes! lol

Totally agree as someone who thankfully has come out the other side of menopause after 11 years of it. Thinning hair is one symptom which is why so many of us love Justin's tips. Have recently discovered the joys of castor oil which is so hydrating for dry skin and helping fading hyperpigmentation and dark spots, it's like a miracle product and sooooo affordable.

Lady Di, I agree with you! Such a big mental shift occurs as we age, and it's a progressive mental shift. After menopause, I had to work thru the truth that my worth was NOT dependent on (no longer) having wrinkle-free skin nor long, dark hair . Awwww. It brought tears to her eyes. She is beautiful and would rock any haircut. At 57 years old I know how she feels. I got to an age where for some reason I felt long hair dragged my face down and short hair opened my face up. It’s amazing how a good new cut and style can really perk you up and help you accept that your looks have evolved. Beautiful at 30 will never be the same as beautiful at 60 but both ages can be their best beautiful selves.

I get it! For the longest time, while my husband was still alive, our home's walls were bare, as I only wanted my own art displayed. But between the studio, client commissions, teaching classes and workshops countrywide, running a small scribe's store and also playing the organ and leading our church choir, I never got to doing any art for our walls! But for my late hubby's sixtieth birthday party we were hosting in our newly decorated home, so all the art was created in the space of 1 month! Actually, with her bone structure, you couldn't have gone wrong no matter which way you cut it, but it really brings such attention to her lovely face. I'm very glad she likes it. I use to have this one guy who was just the best!!! He knew exactly what I wanted. I was always happy with my hair. Every time I left his salon. Then I started traveling for my job and couldn’t get to him for my cut and color. So, I booked with this lady in south Florida. Well, she sent some guy to do my cut and color. I was so upset. I never knew I could be traumatized so badly from a haircut and color. It looked like he put a bowl on my head and cut it. No kind of layering, just pulled straight up and cut straight across. And I wanted a reddish blond with a lot of blond hi lites. Walked out with auburn hair and a few blonde hi lites thrown in here and there. That monstrosity costed me a lot of money. That’s the last time I had my hair “professionally” done. And that was three years ago. I just don’t trust people any more. 😢

That was my mum too. I ended up training to be a hairdresser and started cutting her hair, always being careful to cut a little less than she wanted. She got comfortable with the process again. And when I moved to Aus she was brave enough to go back to a salon.

I’m 67 and have always had long hair. Kept it healthy and people constantly complimented that it was beautiful. It identified me. However, the last year with health issues, I noticed the ends and crown thinning. It was looking scraggly. I was hesitant to cut it as I too felt “sexy” with long hair and short to me was “cute” and I’ve never been the cute type. Finally I had enough and thought I’d just cut it off to clean up the ends. So a month ago I made an appointment. My stylist was shocked when I asked her to give me a lob to my collarbone. Over 8 inches came off. I LOVE IT! Immediately it made me look younger, the long hair was dragging my face down. All my friends-women AND men- love it. Because I feel better about myself now, no longer tied to my hair for identity, I feel pretty and confident and thus-sexy. Win, win. Gonna keep it. So glad I saw this today. She looks amazing! I'll be 60 this year. The past several years I've struggled with changes to my skin and hair texture. I've had to change everything I thought I knew and try new products & techniques for my skin/makeup and my hair. I finally have a stylist who is making me happy (she really listens to me and I really listen to her -- she doesn't make promises about making my hair do something it just doesn't want to do). I am also happier with my skincare and makeup than I've been in a long time. No one prepared me for these changes I would face during perimenopause and menopause but I am finally starting to embrace this part of my journey in life. And btw I just can't imagine if my husband were my stylist - he would just give me a buzzcut and be done LOL!

It can be a big shock going from longer to shorter hair. I’m glad that she picked that one. I know it was just coincidental that she did, but it was my favourite and did not disappoint. I’ve heard that it’s better to change your long term hairstyle gradually because you can always go shorter in a day, but it takes months or years to go longer. She looks fabulous! Looks gorgeous, I've found myself gravitate towards similar styles lately. I liked that you explained, you weren't telling ladies to shorten their hair. I did get that message/impression from you on earlier videos, especially for mature ladies. The advantage of this style is on lazy, or busy days you could just tie it up, but you can make it real special when you need to.

Ahhhh ...Dionna and I are hair twinsies now 😊. I do love this length as well. I'm mid forties myself and after trying just about every length and style imaginable, that's what I landed on. I really find this length and style very flattering for women with a slightly square jaw and high forehead (that's me as well!), as it gives lots of volume and movement. It really frames the face very nicely, balances and softens the facial features and makes for a very youthful and energetic look, imo. Well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Wow Justin you were brave with the hat trick! Glad it worked out well ❤ I would like to see a video about Disaster haircuts. Just had one a few weeks ago. I walked into a salon I have been going to for years, my favorite stylist was not available. I had a shoulder length bob, just wanted 2 inches trimmed, actually took in a photo to show the length I wanted. The stylist obviously was a rookie as she sectioned my hair then soaked a large section on the side of my face with sprayer then with one snip cut a large swath of hair about 5 inches. I yelled “Stop” then the manager took over to “fix” it and I walked out with a super short pixie. Too drastic a change for me. I’m owning it and learning how to style thanks to your videos. It’s only hair and will grow back, I will be looking for a new salon when it does.

Because I watched a lot of your videos yesterday I was able to go to the salon today, ask specifically for what I wanted, and I got it! I’ve always worn short hair, but being in my early 70s I don’t enjoy spending my time 'doing' my hair! Well, that changed today, because when I came home I was feeling more energetic and I’m enjoying what I see in the mirror. I even washed my hair and redid the blowout and product like she did so I could KNOW I could do it. The biggest challenge will be ,,,, she has encouraged me to part my hair on my left side not my right. This changed how my hair looked entirely. I'm 61, hair ( in profile pic) was the same length. It's 75% gray, medium texture, slight bend, and thick. But unless it was freshly washed it hung flat and took waaaay too long to add some curl. Finally cut it to collar bone length. Lots better. Then the next month took it up to a skim- the-shoulder bob. Love it. My hair always looks good now. Can still put it in a little pony too. It's polished, shiny, and swingy. Why did I wait so long?

At the age of 48, I just went short (meaning, the longest parts are chin length, just enough to tuck behind my ears) for the first time in my life. When I'm not hyperventilating (LOL), I love it more than I thought I ever would. It's fun and looks thicker and has more bounce than I knew my thin hair could support.

You look so good, I wish my husband could do my hair, I used to be a hair stylist years ago, I tried to find a hair salon, but something wrong always happens, so I gaved up, so I do my own hair cut & high lights, let me tell you, last time, It took the intired night to highlight my hair.. I have long hair...but I'm glad it came out good..but it is exhausting ....I usually highlight my hair every 6-7 months,...I like the ombre effect...is a little less maintenance.. but this time I did a money piece to blend new grays hairs in the front...I hope one day I get to find the person who can do my hair...you are so blessed! ❤

Between age and hard water, my hair has NO life and won't hold any curl (sigh)!
