Thank you for sharing this! You explained in more detail the stroke adjustment, which frankly is my only hang-up with understanding the operation. I recently purchased an Akktol BT-607 kit through Amazon. After viewing several systems, it looked like the best one for the money. I've tried to understand stroke settings by reading the owned/user manual that came with it ...... BUT it keeps leaving me confused all over again. Lol .... Getting the initial setting right so I won't end up pulling the threads or damaging the rivnut, mandrels or tool itself is my concern .... I'm sure tho as with you, the best way to learn is to just start using it. This tool is one that most guys will probably only use occasionally, but one that if we own is priceless. Anyways, your video explained it much better than any I watched previously. BTW, as for your skid plate under your vehicle, i'd use a stainless rivnut since it's located down where it's catching road spray etc. I ordered an extra asset Iof nuts in standard metal, plus an assortment of stainless as well. Tnnx again for sharing.

i have/had the exact same question as you. as a diy guy im not trained and learn on the job. i found with using rivnuts. To protect my shoulders and ensure i dont strip the rivnut threads, i do smaller crimps 2-3 times. And this ensures i dont over crimping the rivnut and stripping the thread!

I used ez-lok threaded sleeves for the skid plate bolt holes on my xterra. Worked great and had to be pretty easy since I could do it.

Topic idea for Video: Xterra Manual or Automatic - flow chart of logic to diagnose/fix if off road and Xterra motor won't start. What are the parts one should carry for the possible situations with a no start condition and the tools to install those parts. Of course this assumes the battery is ok and the person is carrying a starter pack for when the battery is run down. Good video on the Riv-Nuts, cool fastener that holds well. I see this tool used a lot in Van build outs for the interior construction.

Ry I have an 06 xterra, 05 Titan, & 18 Rogue. Your videos are great & I appreciate you. Unfortunately I still haven't gotten my AIRBAG LIGHT fixed in the Titan. It drives me crazy. Also the rear door speaker housing is a lil frustrating. Any videos on that?

hi! thank you so much for the video. i have a question. ive been using rivet nuts for light duty applications, say like mounting the number plate , or a hinge. but, can i use this for heavy duty industrial applications, like say to attach legs for a table that takes 1000kgs on it. where i would put the screw horizontally, and the screw is loaded in the shear mode.

How do you find out what stroke length for a particular rivnut? The smaller mandrals like a M3 can’t take a lot force or else it will break.
@Rythecarguy
@Rythecarguy 8 ай бұрын
I just use a piece of scrap steel and set the stroke pretty long then I can see both sides and adjust it down until it's tight.

@Ry the car guy should be able to. You may need to get a slightly longer mandrel (at least the Threaded part), or you might be able to do it with 2 shorter pulls instead of one

@@Rythecarguy we use Blue Pneumatic Rivet Nut Tool. It has to be calibrated for aviation use. Yours looks easier to control the stroke but you still have to get a feel for how much resistance before you blow out the rivnut.
