I'll never not see the rage towards "misgendering" as something stupid. My sister is a full grown woman, but she has heaps of masculine energy. The number of times she's been "misgendered" is crazy. She's been called "sir" by employees and has had children stare at her and come up to her asking if she was a boy or a girl. And when she talks about being "misgendered" she laughs. And our family laughs with her because we know she's a woman, SHE knows she's a woman, and it's not something people say to her with malice or to hurt her. So why can't nonbinary people see it the same? Why do they get so angry about it?? It's weird. The nonbinary crowd is full of weirdos. I'm convinced

The era of simply correcting a person for calling “she” a “he” (and vice versa) or ignoring them is over. It’s now… wear badges that display your they/them/xe/xir/ze/zim pronouns and yelling at the person just because they misgendered you, and making a fuss out of it. As well as trying to get people fired because they didn’t use your correct pronouns.

It's because the WHOLE POINT of identifying as "gender-neutral" (or whatever other "third gender" nonsense- "agender' or "gender-fluid", etc) is to give bland, self-obsessed middle-class teenage girls (or less often, gay men in their 20s) something to make them feel special and also "victimised" and "oppressed". Getting "misgendered" (ie getting CORRECTLY gendered) is what makes being "gender neutral" worth all the trouble, of getting an ugly haircut, and the least-flattering facial piercings you can find.

I'm a lesbian with an androgynous style and I've been called "sir" so many times that it's a joke in my family. My sister has me in her phone contacts as "sir." 😂 I've had the stares and questions from kids, too. I'll admit, it stung a little the first few times, but that was because I still had some internalized homophobia and wasn't comfortable with myself. But now I've grown past that and it's just funny. If someone feels upset that they've been "misgendered", that's on THEM - a sign they need to grow in their own confidence and self-esteem. It doesn't reflect on the person "misgendering." People who don't do that inner work and instead blame their feelings on other people, making their own reactions the fault/responsibility of others rather than themselves, strike me as pathetically juvenile.

I am a female person who is also apparently unmistakenly feminine looking (like NO ONE has ever thought I was a man since I am an adult, though I personally do not care what people think of my assumed gender) and in rainbow spaces I go by bise*ual nonbinary when people start consciously 'reading' me as a hetero cis-woman. It is a joy everytime to see them embarrassed, confused and lowkey angry at the same time (it is not even a lie - I am bi, and I apparently am not cis, since that would mean 'identify myself wholly with the woman's gender role, which I do not, because I am a person and not a stereotype). I just LOVE the look-standard for all the people who want to be unique.

I remember a few years ago I didn’t know how to refer to someone that I don’t know their gender. At that time I wasn’t that good at English so I called the strangers “it”, only to get called out for sounding rude and I should say “them”. Which, back then, made no sense for me lmao because I thought “them” refers to more than one person. So I accepted that the word “they” can refer to someone ONLY if you don’t know the person’s gender. Once you do know, you call that person she or he. Unbelievable that you can actually be a “they” and identify as a “they”. Of all languages that I know, you’re either he or she; if your gender is unknown, you’re technically “he”, like I know that “they” singular would be “él” in Spanish and “他” in Chinese, both of them mean “he”; and it’s disgusting that these gender radical activists are trying to defy grammar and make up nonsense pronouns.

I hated myself so much I felt I wasn’t good enough to pass as a woman, and I was told that must be because I’m a man. I’ve dealt with my feelings and I love being a woman now. And of course I turned around to tell him where it was and I saw the panic in his eyes. I am a very mood neutral when around the public space but I made sure to give him a smile and a "it's not a big deal, I need a haircut" and told him where to find the fertilizer. I do miss the time when being offended wasn't considered the worst thing in the world that could happen to someone
@nm5310
@nm5310 Жыл бұрын
Lol. Well, being offended is a western society 'issue' only. So, in the vast majority of the world, it isn't an issue as most of the world is not 'westernised'. Most people around the world actually have a life and live in reality. Life has adversities and there are real issues for people to deal with around the world rather than the made up issues in the US. They clearly have nothing better to do than make up 'problems'. You know your life must be good if you have to invent your own 'issues' like being offended. The US is a sad society.

@nm5310
@nm5310 Жыл бұрын
@@Lexi_47 Yeah. I'm from the UK too but I travel a lot. It's a shame how clueless some people here are about the general world. It ends up leading to the 'offended at everything mindset' because they don't put anything into context. Knowing/learning about the size and scale of the world's population and the demographics of it puts things into perspective. You end up realising how small the 'western culture' is in the scheme of things. The 'west' is usually the USA, Canada, Aus/NZ and all the countries in Europe. These places combined are only 14% of the world population. But for some reason, some of those people (especially in the US) think they are somehow 'the world' or the centre of the universe, when actually they are a small fraction. It's very insular. 60% of the world's people are from Asian countries, 20% are from African countries. This is 80% of humanity. Virtually none of it is westernised. As a person from Europe or the USA, when you travel outside those western centric bubbles, you realise how different you are to everyone else around the world. Your lifestyle, your culture, your background, everything. It puts things into perspective and you look at the so called 'issues' that people make up in the west and they are literally 'first world problems' at their finest. Western societies are some of the fairest, most peaceful societies on earth. Yet you get those dumbasses who have to make up everything under the sun to moan about. If you are in a society where you have to create your own 'problems' then you don't have any problems. It's just ignorance and not addressing that the issue is your mental health and nothing more. It's sad really. Sorry that was an essay! 😂

This is long. I'm sorry 😂 tldr; Thank you for your kind thoughtful approach to this subject. I went through similar things as that girl. I'm so glad I got a great therapist who helped me accept that I'm a woman. --- Long version: I went through the exact same thing as that girl (SA as a child), and it definitely made me hate being a girl. My choices were different than her's, thankfully. But only because I managed to try to ignore my trauma until I couldn't anymore. I had children, because I knew I always wanted kids. Thank God I listened to my soul telling me that. Or I might have never had my wonderful children. Unfortunately, the body changes I experienced, along with having daughters, made me have a total breakdown. Let me be clear, the problem was me not dealing with my trauma. It was NOT my kids' fault whatsoever, ever. In fact, even at my most unwell, I knew it wasn't about them. I DID think maybe it was about my gender though. So I went to a therapist, because my husband very kindly and lovingly begged me to. Not because I was threatening to leave or anything. I'm bi. I'd love my husband no matter what. Though... he's straight. So, it was going to be a problem if I was suddenly going to be living as a dude, and have surgeries or something. That's just reality. Thankfully I had these other people in my life to think about, to care for. Some might think that's some kind of hindrance or "servitude" or something. But it's not. It's living. If you only live for yourself, what's the point? Idk. That's just how I feel. One shouldn't completely lose themselves for others, obviously, but there is so much meaning and love found in duty to family. Not abusive, hurtful, coercion masquerading as righteous duty. But in loving bonds and constance and support. Healthy duty. I don't have that kind of bond with my parents. But I have it with my children and husband. And if I wasn't a woman, none if it would be possible. Not in this exact way, with all of us as part of this family. For example, my children couldn't have been born. And if I had decided to "be trans" our narriage would have broken up. Which, even in the friendliest divorces, always hurts kids. I'm so glad I didn't lose my chance at happiness and family just to wallow in the trauma someone ELSE chose to cause me, so long ago. I hope this young woman gets help. I hope she makes some healthy connections to other people, that bring her out of herself (in the best way). Because this stuff ISN'T the answer to SA trauma. Being a woman doesn't mean we deserve abuse, or that it's the majority of our reality. Again, thank you for pointing this reality out, and with such care and compassion.

my little sister was SA as a child for about 3-4 years. She is now going through transition to be a boy. I practically raised my sister until age 8; there were no signs pointing to her being trans. I thought at most she was gay (for many reasons that i won't go into). Now she wants me to refer to her as male and use he/him pronouns. She is 15 btw. I try and be respectful as much as I can but still can't fully wrap my head around it. The whole thing sucks because my mother is her "yes man" and does whatever she wants. Ive tried explaining to her that this is a result of her trauma (in the most respectful way possible) but she doesn't get it because she's a child. I wish things weren't like this...

“As long as you look and sound like a woman, you’ll be called ma’am. Ik I’m gonna probably get bashed for saying this, but I do struggle with gender dysphoria (but it’s not enough for me to feel the need/want to transition to presenting as a male) but it is enough for me to feel dysphoric around being a woman. Idk what it is or why I have this dysphoria, but all ik that the dysphoria fluctuates, so that’s why I say I’m genderfluid. Being genderfluid isn’t what these “TikTok kids” are making it out to be, and I don’t shove it in people’s faces either. Ik I’ll always look like a woman, and I’ll always be referred to and portrayed as such, and yes cuz of dysphoria it kinda “bothers” me but I never say anything cuz I understand. What he said is 100% correct, we shouldn’t be “shoving out identities in people’s faces” and that shouldn’t even be said honestly. I use she/they pronouns cuz i literally only leave the “they/them” part for dysphoria reasons for myself, and I use “she/her” cuz I would NEVER expect strangers to use “they” for me and it doesn’t really matter anyways cuz ik who I am and what my struggles are and that’s all what matters. I define and validate myself, I don’t need others to do that for me, and that’s what’s wrong with this generation.

I never thought I was a man or wanted to be one, but I went through a time after I got sexually harassed a lot and sexualized constantly that I cut all my hair off and was happy when I gained weight because I didn't want people to find me attractive, male or female since the harassment came from both sides. I didn't qant to make myself ugly per se, because I still like how I look with short hair and chubby, but the vast majority of people straight up told me how much better I looked before, so I wanted to be ugly in their eyes. Just so you know, the essential act of correcting someone for misgendering seems to me a desire to make the "offender" as uncomfortable as yourself. And that's not appropriate. The world can't bend to you and will never learn on a case-by-case basis how to address you, when objective perception dictates why that happens in the first place. It does not matter if you spent some time helping them; the likelihood that you will cross paths again and they will remember the proper address as a result, is extremely miniscule. The best path as I see it, is twofold: the people in your life who WANT to support your transition will ask how you would like to be addressed, out of respect and politeness. The strangers can't be taught, and if politeness and respect is the goal, then taking pains not to exercise humiliating correction is what you can extend back.

i want to say i dont understand these people but i do. it's unfortunate how much they care. it seems stressful. people thought i was a boy during my childhood and would call me such. they'd ask me what i was and it caused a lot of distress for me at first because i didn't realize that it wasn't obvious that i was female until people brought it up. idk i thought it meant i was ugly or something lOl. i later realized that what people called me did not change what i was and i was free. i'm a biological female and i identify as such. i dress how i want and behave as only myself. a lot of people think i'm a dude at first. some people refer to me as he, some say she, some say they. i do not give a fuck and it feels good. at the end of the day, i'm just me. i don't correct people because it simply does not matter. why hyperfixate on whatever someone's calling you instead of whatever else they're saying? i can't imagine pausing my day because someone happened to call me he or they. even when i was insecure as a kid i didn't bother saying anything to anyone unless they asked me a direct question with the intent of getting an answer. existing must be hell for these people, but it is a choice. choosing to not care is not a bad thing and i wish more people would do that.

also loved the segment about the person with the nose ring. their entire look immediately struck me as someone trying their hardest to be as unattractive as possible. it's a very defensive appearance and it pains me to see people like that. it's always clear why they look the way they do. we need more support for people who have been harmed sexually so that they can feel comfortable in their own bodies again. many of my experiences have made me feel gross, but i know i can't run away from myself. it only makes it worse cause no matter what you're still you.

2:30 Yes sweetie, you do look like a woman. So do i as a trans man who's actually trying to pass (this gets worse when i wear my work clothes, i actually pass when i dress like a 15 year old boy) yes i am miserable but at least i'm not delusional thinking i look like a man with shaved eyebrows and whatever haircut this is, i've never seen any guy that looks like this EVER If you truly want to pass (which i doubt) i'd suggest you take off that nose piercing, get new glasses and grow out your eyebrows and hair slightly so maybe then you'll look like you're a feminine younger boy Just because you don't look feminine doesn't mean you don't look like a woman

My heart goes out to victims of SA that feel the need to "hide" themselves as the opposite gender. This is not a solution. I remember when empowering victims with self defense classes, therapy and support groups was the message. Every other day Oprah, Rikki lake or whomever had a show about it when I was in HS. We need to go back to that message.

I am a new subscriber and have watched a few of your videos so far, and I must say that this hits a homerun on so many levels...I'm a 47yr old trans woman and have recently pulled myself away from the transgender label and for good reason, I came out in 2012 and since transitioning I have found a sense of self love and peace within but I never denied my biology! This new ideology is disturbing, and it's creating major damage to our youth! I commend you for being the reasonable common sensible voice that people desperately need to hear! Thank you so much, keep up the great work!

Hello :) I just wanted to say I really appreciate all your videos. They helped me get out of a rut of being in a toxic community of telling me that I'm nonbinary, a lesbian, gay, etc...(Not saying that there's anything against being those things) Your videos have helped me to understand different perspectives and that what was happening to me was not ok, but there was something else I needed to address. I really appreciate all your content and getting a new perspective on topics. Keep up the amazing work :)

There absolutely is a correlation to biological women wanting to identify as men due to s*xual trauma & abuse. I am one of those women. I have had my body violated in that way more than once had men just objectify and use me for their own s*xual gratification & needs which lead to a few either attempting to or actually r*ping me to get what they wanted. I have even been pressured, guilted, manipulated, & gaslit into sending a few of those men n*des of myself. It wasn't long until I started to HATE being a woman started wanting to BE a man thought I was full on trans female to male with zero gender dysphoria but, I somehow convinced myself I had regardless. Thank GOD I realized I wasn't trans and never altered my body or went on hormones BUT, I still didn't want to BE a woman so, I identified as non-binary & used they/them pronouns for a good while. It only took me finally speaking to a therapist, family & friends about the trauma, abuse & mistreatment I endured for me to gradually start to appreciate being a biological woman again to start loving being one again. It isn't easy but, at least I am getting the help I do need. I pray all those poor girls do too before they make decisions they will no doubt regret for the rest of their lives....

Hello Marcus!! I hope you can see this and I don’t know if you can, but I recently started watching your videos altogether and now I’m a subscriber. I’m a cis bisexual woman who was never actually concerned about LGBT+ topics at all, but I have a boyfriend called Callum who came out telling me he’s transgender a while back (FTM). At first it was shocking as I never knew what to do in the first few minutes and I had never really expected it because his looks didn’t really give it away, but I managed to comfort him and reassure him I would never leave him and that I still love him unconditionally no matter what, and that he was still and will always be the Callum I’ve always known. Ever since he told me, I’ve been trying to learn more about transgenders and your videos have helped an incredible lot, especially since I know you’re genuine when you speak of this topic and not just some tiktoker who makes it an aesthetic. I appreciate how you explain everything in deep detail, especially how dysphoria feels and what’s ACTUALLY offensive to trans people. Thanks to you, I know more about my boyfriend and all I can say is, him coming out as transgender to me only made me love him more, not less as he was worried. I want him to be himself and reassure him he doesn’t have to be afraid when he feels the need to speak about his experience as a transgender to me. I love him very much and I want to always be his safe place. Thank you so much for your videos, they helped me realise so many things that I never knew. ❤️ Callum if you’re seeing this somehow, I love you.

I used to be a very masc-presenting female, and was called sir so many times, but like, I get it. My hair was really short, I didn't wear makeup, I was always dressed in a T-shirt and jeans. I didn't look feminine unless you were really close to me. I didn't mind it, and I always said as much when people would apologize, and I don't mind now. Any time I hear "what are your preferred pronouns," my response is the same. You may call me anything you want so long as you aren't being derogatory. Some of my real-life friends literally refer to me as cheddar or cheese as an inside joke, and I think it's awesome and hilarious 😂

My girlfriend is a biological woman. As a child she was pumped full of steroids pre and during puberty, because of this she has a deep voice and regularly gets misidentified as male on the phone. She usually just laughs and informs them that shes a woman. The only time she gets angry is when they continue to do it.

I’m a woman who is almost 30 and got a “Thank you, young lady!” the other day. I just laughed, thinking about how triggered one of these TikTokers would have gotten from that. They are all just so insecure in themselves and it’s sad to see. I grew up being called the wrong name (accidentally) half the time and have been misgendered over the phone (my brother and I used to sound identical on the phone) and in person when I had short hair. It’s no big deal and does not affect me because I know who I am.

Literally, I call everyone sir or ma’am. I do it to kids, I do it to adults, I do it to essentially anyone I can tell is older than me or anyone that I don’t know well. I was just raised to believe that this is the most respectful way to address people. When my grandma calls me, I answer with, “Yes ma’am?” It’s something that just comes out of my mouth these days without even thinking- instinctively. And only in the past few years have I had the thought after I say it that, “oh shit maybe that was rude….” But I honestly can’t care about that because l’m just trying to be friendly and respectful and I’m not going to allow some miserable, bitter people to make me feel like being respectful is somehow wrong. TBH- I’d be embarrassed to have to correct someone on my preferred pronouns. But Marcus is right, the probably love it because it gives them a reason to complain. I’d also feel really bad if this person tried to misgender me as a clapback for accidentally misgendering them because like….. I don’t think about gender like they do, most people don’t. So I mean…. the biggest reaction they’d get is likely just confusion.

It's definitely a coping mechanism for some of these people. This woman has reduced womanhood to having nails and a higher pitched voice. Things she can physically alter. And that as long as she lacks enough "female attributes", she will no longer be a woman. And by not being a woman, she won't be at (as high of a) risk of another SA. I understand it, but that needs to be addressed in therapy. Literally wanting to separate from your gender as a coping mechanism is not healthy and should not be seen as normal. That last video trend really disgusted me though. These people probably have 50-60 year old parents and are basically trying to train them to speak in a way that isn't natural and broadcasting it to the world when they mess up. The level of narcissism that is CONSTANTLY shown in this community is deplorable.

I live in Northern England and the societal norms here is that women and men call women "love" "sweetheart" some such term of affection..men call other men "mate" sometimes "bro" (i think thats an American import). There have been afew times where a man calls me "mate" and i instantly think "he thinks im a bloke!?" In reality its probably just a slip, or men purposefully using a non gendered term . Im clearly a woman and i actually like being called "love" "petal" and all the rest .

As a masculine, gay woman, I got it all the time both growing up and in adulthood when I had my hair short, since I only dress like men. On a call-in stream with a KZbinr I like, the chat all thought I was a 13yo boy lying about wanting to propose, because my voice is that sorta-deep, cracking, puberty boy voice, especially on the phone 💀 as a kid and teen girl, I also never got offended when little kids thought I was a boy. My own nephew didnt believe I was a girl until he was like 5 or 6. And never has it once offended me. I get it 😂 So go ahead and misgender cis people, a lot of us have dealt with it their whole life too, and even if they haven't, its only gonna offend a Karen and make other people think you mispoke or are special.
