It's a cool idea and could have lead to interesting Character interactions. Though i think it's understandable they didn't do it. Weyoun is just too well informed about the Dominion. Security codes can be easily changed but Bases, White production centers and supply depots and assault plans can't simply be changed on a whim. Nr 6 would have made the Win far too easy.

Is NO ONE gonna mention why during the 10-20 HOURS in the shuttle craft ODO didn't debrief weyoun 6 and get all the info out of him before he killed himself? Makes no sense why he didn't give the info. Oh wait but then the story wouldnt happen. Please don't justify it comment section. The writers clearly didn't want weyoun 6 to give info to make the story happen and keep the tension. Anyone who disagrees is dumb RIP ODO BEST DS9 CHARACTER AND STAR TREK CHARACTER EVER

@@davidt8087 Could be that Weyoun6 wanted to be absolutely sure he is brought to the Federation. While Odo is trustworthy, the Federation - despite honoring deals - probably would've booted him had Odo already have the intel. W6 probably had more leverage keeping silent. Dunno, I think Odo even assumed sometime in this episode that there would be enough time for interogations ~ bad assumption.

#6 was the best one. It is a shame the writers didn't want to take a chance on having him survive for the story. I always felt it was a missed opportunity that Odo never tried to claim some of the ships & minions that were his birthright. Maybe if he had been more active in dealing with his people and trying meet them partway, he could have ended the war before it escalated so much.
@Thatslifebro_5 жыл бұрын
No, the Founders whole ideology is against it. The entire reason Odo and his "brothers" were sent out was because the founders preemtively wanted to gather intel on threats to later eliminate them. They consider conquering Solid races and keeping them under strict control absolutely essential because it was the only option that ever reliably worked for them. To make a real world analogy: North Korea has Nukes. People like Trump think they can convince them to give them up through negotiation and debate. But North Korea won´t ever give up the Nukes because Kim has seen countless dictators who did so and shortly afterwards faced the consequences. For example full scale rebellions by their people, The US invading, the US sending assassination commandos or their next door neighbors deciding to invade now that the nukes are gone. Same case with the Founders, you can´t reason with them in this regard because to them there is no alternative. Though they do it smart and take their time in certain areas to make them look trustworthy, best example beeing the Romulans. While they leave Romulans "freedom" in theory, in fact they are fighting and conquering all the Powers surrounding the Romulans. So once the Dust from the Federation Klingon campaign settles the Romulans find themselves effectively surrounded on all sides. Then from one second to another the Dominion attacks from all directions until they reach Romulus.
@Bitchslapper3165 жыл бұрын
I don't think Odo could control his own army of minions. Aside from loyalty being genetically coded into the Vorta and gem'hadar the founders also had many levels of security that assured obedience from them. For example Odo would need his own massive supply of white.

@StefanTravis6 жыл бұрын
@@austinboylan5476 I'm not sure it _would_ collapse. It's a short step from high-level administration of other people's policies, to developing one's own policies. If the sickness in the great link had killed the founders, vorta like Weyoun would have quickly replaced them.

Wayoun 7 was defective, or to put it another way: had a more serious aproach to survival and his promotion. No matter how scientifically we advance as a people until we evolve beyond our own arrogance and ignorance of the universe then we'll truly be a limited species! Alas as they say we have to go through the bad stuff to be at peace with ourselves! Scarier times are still to follow before we can make the pantheon of beyond!
