When putting crops into the packaging, only have the required crops for the one you're packaging stored within the chest. The crops you were losing were because you were firing them out of the vacuum pump directly, and they get destroyed on impact with the packaging inlet. You also need to push in the inlet for the pipe connection to establish. Now that I think about it, we need a Scrap Mechanic Science bit where you fire a vacuum pump turret at bots to see if they do damage. Also keep in mind that every so often you want to go a day or two without a harvest to reset the waves. I remember that from the comments on some of Diesel's videos. And on that note, I heard there too that Totebots might be scared of their own heads, so the more you destroy, and the more Totebot Heads you collect, place them on the farm wall, mostly on the water side, to ward off the Totebots and leave only the Haybots as a big threat. In Diesel's world, he has the waters around his peninsula inundated with Totebot heads and all of his raids come from inland and not the water.

Yesterday I played my first two hours of scrap mechanic survival. It was certainly interesting. So I collected some embers, wood, did one round of farming at the starter farming area then got the master battery. With the master battery, I decided to try and walk to the mechanic station to skip a step. About halfway through (i didn't realize i was halfway at the time), I decided it is taking too long and went back to my ship to get parts for a car. After building a janky little car that moved like a snail, i made my way to the mechanic station. The moment i got there.... i died. So going all the way back to build a car was all for naught because i ended up having to walk all the way back to the mechanic station anyway. While that was pretty annoying, i did end up getting the craftbot before ending my session so yay

first day experience, Game took several attempts to load, Including a full reset of the computer. then when i went into the water that has resources i got a sound like the jet engine on full volume right next to your head, when I got out of the water the game sounds were like you you hear if you were stuck under water. Day two it was I had hideous frame drops adding into the mix. Over all I have only died once. This is in part to binge watching you, John Bane, squiddy, moonbo and Kan.

I played a bit last night and i got THE BEST spawn for my first mechanic shop. Two burned woods within viewing distance, a wheat field with corn right across the street, ocean right behind, honey and rocks nearby. I am very happy.

My first experience: Everything was going smooth until I made the vehicle, I accidentally hit my fuel with the hammer so I had only 4 but it didn't matter because it was too heavy anyway, it was slower than walking speed. After going behind the warehouse the road just ended... I had to carry my vehicle on my lift through this extremely dense forest trying to find a road but there was none. After a while I made a terrible mistake of trying to drive, haybots attacked unexpectedly and deleted my seat (I removed protection to save on weight) I couldn't turn off the engine because of the full inventory so I placed it on the lift but a haybot destroyed my soil so I had nothing to plant on. After carrying the remains of my vehicle to the mechanics station, that had practically no road and no water in sight, I went on foot to some ruin. Haybots swarmed me completely but I survived, unfortunately I glitched while climbing the ruin and got yeeted into a wall and died. I went back and got yeeted again in exactly the same spot and died. I decided to use toilet seat trick but I fell and died, now my toilet seat is forever suck on the side of a building. Now everything is going ok so far, but I'm constantly out of fuel since my farm is far away from the shop, closest water is behind the dense forest so I have to drive around the whole thing, almost to the starting area.

Hey scrapman! I just found a really good/fun way to mine when you just got acces to the drill. Take an engine(any will do): put a bearing and a switch on it: put the drill on the bearing. Now just take this creation on the lift, and for ease of use already flip the switch. Now place lift on top of rock formation, and delete it. Let the carnage begin!

Well glad to see I'm not the only one having heavy issues like this. Even though I made it quite far already (got a pretty good car with a drill, a refinery and collector plus a proper little farm) I can never play the game for more than 10-15 minutes in a row. Yeah I already sent about 100 bug reports through the 'Bugsplat' crash screen ... With all the things I tried nothing ever fixed that problem. I'm starting to believe it's related to random generation of some things that mess up some worlds from the start. So basically the only way to fix it is to start a new game (hoping it generates a world that works properly ^^). If you don't have the same kind of issue: - play around with the graphics settings - make sure your GPU driver is up to date - verify game files - v-sync ON might help (but also drop frames depending on your setup) - definitely reduce the view distance Hope any of this helps you ;).

For my farm i make the walls real sturdy, and sit atop it with a hotbar of water buckets and a hammer... Also side note, if you have a solid thick wall and all blocks reach the ground, they can dig a stair case. My suggestion, have atleast 2 blocks vertical space between every wall layer to the ground except the inner most wall layer

When you deposit into the packing station, it has a cool down so sometimes it misses and gets deleted. So you have to wait a little after every click

I've actually found that using the excessive totebot heads, because you need to clear them out because they start chunking away as physics objects if you leave them, as a horizontal protection that that works pretty well. They don't have a reliable durability, meaning they get destroyed in one hit, but they're big enough that if you had a layer 5 deep, it will take a hay bot 10 hits at least to make a hole big enough to get to your actual defensive wall. Haybots can take out blocks 2 deep and 3 wide so about a 6 max destruction. It's not a maintainable defense, but it's something to use the heads for and it does stall for enough time. It's also resourceful because besides making noise and aesthetics, the tote bot head serves no purpose. However, definitely do not rely on it to do anything when you get Farm Bots storming in or Tape Bots shooting at them. They'll erode those things away like a Taco Bell fart melts faces.

Tip if you don't want to deal with raids. Find a shoreline, put down 9x soil bags/plant with whatever seeds you want, then just run along the shoreline for 20 seconds(realtime), plant another 9x plots, rinse/repeat. I have 10 mini farms (YES! 90 plots!!) and have found that 20seconds of running is a sweet spot for safe distance apart so as not to trigger the raids(it may be less. not sure). It's a bit of running but beats the hell out of dealing with raids. All you need is 9x water buckets and your seeds and the will to run for a few mins every day. Kinda like doing "chores' on the farm. haha. I'll keep doing this until I can build one of those somewhat complicated watering systems I see a few people making. Remember, as soon as you place the 10th soil bag in any given spot, it triggers the raids! I made my plot-sections in a big circle. (instead of running in a straight line apart). That way, I just do a run in a BIG CIRCLE around the map to my "9x plot-sections" that are close to water. Hope that helps! :)

For moving heavy things, the Payday method works well too. Sprint forward ahead of the thing towards your objective, turn 180* and pick up payload, complete your rotation and place, repeat. Gets you some extra sprint distance on each iteration. Bag moving simulator, man.

Constantly jumping while backing up and swinging is the best strat for fighting the farm bots. They miss their swing 90% of the time and it works for hoards. But the lift strat works too.

It's not difficult to find. It's pretty much handed to you on a plate, as is the workshop battery.

When it then be easiest to find the very top of the box hit box so you can put one strip at their feet and one at their head level, that's several layers deep and that way unless they're literally targeting the wall they quite literally couldn't get through.

One of the first things I learned on my first day in survival is that combat is hard, and the best strategy is to jump at the haybot's faces and bounce off when they attack.

Use those scrap metal rods that the hay bots drop as a barrier around your farm. you can have them vertically with a block or two between each and in front of the wall. bots use a lot of time digging through them so your brick wall would barely if at all touched

Played it on release Date directly as it came out. When I started my new world and explored the sorrunding area i directly discovered the mechanic station a warehouse and the chemical pond directly next to my ship. I got so lucky with that world.

My first day experience, Found the first mechanic station, About a 1 minute run and a 30 second swim away, I found an rock outcrop out at sea with a small piece on land atop. put down 10 soil and tomato seeds and hoped for the best. A day later I came back. The Tomatoes where fine...there was a farm bot in the water at the base, unable to get up ...Now I'm thinking of building my base out there....

You can make a saw trap/wall to kill the haybots and greenies. The best part is that speed doesn't matter for dps, so you can use a leveled up engine at the lowest setting and run multiple saws.

When you have a hoard of haybots on you, jump in the water and only the totebots attack you. If you jump in with a bucket you can lob water at them and lessen the hoard so it's easier to take them out
