Melissa, I am so sorry you are still on the mend. You have given us all so much of yourself for so many years, its heartbreaking to hear you even use the word fail.. Time heals all wounds and your shoulder will heal as well. We all have that inner critic even the teacher. (YOU). You have healed so many and now its your time. I am sending you prayers and love for a full shoulder healing. 2020 has tested us all, here’s to a better 2021..

Letting go of perfectionism is key... for many. Funny how many of us share similar experiences in parallel. I’ve been dealing with a very painful frozen shoulder for months now (it’s coming along nicely, thank you). During my path, I also recently discovered the wonderful self-compassion work of Dr. Kristin Neff. I’m starting to look more deeply into that. One of my greatest struggles has been consistently practicing, even without my injury. Perfectionism isn’t one of my issues.... I have plenty of other issues, so I don’t need that one! I’ve sometimes felt guilty that I haven’t sought perfection.... that I was supposed to strive for that. But I definitely need help in moving towards some version of a daily practice. I very much look forward to the focus within the membership community beginning in January.

I am sorry for your shoulder injury, Melissa, yet grateful you are talking about a daily yoga practice WITH an injury. I would like to hear more on this subject, as I have three cervical bulging discs, and have been hesitant about proceeding with a one-year membership due to my condition. ~Blessings to you. ❤️

Letting go of perfectionism. Thank you so much for your honesty. Your message really spook to me. I have not been able for similar reasons . However I’m now slowly going through the Hippy Shorts lessons. To assist myself physically and setting up my physical area for success. Again thank you.

Letting go of perfectionism is a very hard thing to do. But it's also hard to be able to tell when showing compassion for yourself is offering an "easy way out". Finding the right balance of doing a task, and being satisfied with what you have done knowing that there is still something that would make the result better. This is something that I have dealt with for many years. I'm sorry that you are going through this as well. I hope your shoulder heals quickly.
