As someone that studied and worked in historic restoration specifically in paint, I can confirm that whitewashed brick has been a thing since ancient times and painting mass produced furniture isn’t the destruction of a sacred relic 🙂 Good luck with all your projects you do a great job

Wow, what a difference. I think people might have panicked because "white-washing" was interpreted as a solid white painted brick wall and they didn't understand you were just wanting to whiten the mortar between the bricks. You did a great job!!

You totally made the right call with the brick wall. What a difference! Your room will look so much brighter. Having moved into a home where someone smoked for years, I understand how discolored walls, etc can be. You cannot wash that away. You seem so happy with where you are in life and I love that. Being 71, I know that life can get really difficult at times. You have come a long way since about a year ago. You have a lovely home, your business is going well and you seem very settled in. You don't have to sew the curtains; you can use doubled sided adhesive hem tape with an iron to get the length you want. Much faster😉 Projects look WONDERFUL. Answer to who are you? Only you can decide, but on the outside looking in....you are a wonderfully creative Bohemian who is a hardworking independent business owner❣️

I didn’t realize there was controversy about the brick wall, but you are so kind to acknowledge it with no offense taken. You have a big community and there are bound to be conflicting opinions! I love the white-washing and I love that you are enjoying the process without stressing yourself!! The lightened wall will coordinate better with the “Elise Bush Look” plus I imagine it smells fresher and reflects light better. I love love love it. The difference it has made already! Took a dark looking space and made it so much brighter while keeping the different tones! Needed to add this: It’s her space! She lives there not you. I’m sure not everyone would agree with the design choices in your homes but it’s that, your home. Just because we are privy to her life does not give you the right to guilt or convince anyone. I recently painted my house a pastel blue from white because it made me happy didn’t hear a peep from my friends or family. Idc what people do to THEIR homes and neither should you. Its a different look than I got. I just used paint w primer included. I painted my grout, then I used water and paint mixture and just used a dry brush to put on. Old towels to wipe access off. I could see the color coming thru but I used my hand sander lightly in places. I also traded my neat trim for raw edge wood trim, I also white washed darker than wall ( bright like grout ). I was going for old world look but got country farmhouse look 😂. Its OK......Your home is looking more and more like you every video. Beautiful 🏵🌹🌷🌻🌺🌼💮🌸🐛🐌🐜 Enjoy these last of few warm☀ garden days we have. 🐍 It will be time to start all over in a few months. Mortar (putty) washing instead of painting. An inspired choice. Lightens the wall and the room, yet retains the warm colours of the wall. Someone suggested a mirror. An over the top circular gilt framed one would be stunning.

Cameras do a good job of lightening the space, so I think in real life the wall would look even darker than it does to us. Always a fan of lightening it and it's already making a huge difference! Looking forward to the finished look and of course to gallery wall time! ❤

Yes! I think for many people, it’s automatically a ‘crime’ to paint any wood or brick, etc. but that myth is a reaction to a time when too many people didn’t consider preserving the integrity of old furniture and buildings. Not all wood is worth restoring and not all brick or stone is of rare value. One rule doesn’t apply to every circumstance. In this case, the white-washing is a major improvement!
