As a mama of a young child with CF, I understand what he means about people getting mad when they see CFers hanging out. It's been drilled into us from day 1! And right now, my son is too young to make any decisions like that, so I am 100% responsible for keeping him healthy. This made me see a different side of things, and I appreciate that. Someday he will be grown and I won't be responsible for his health anymore. That is super scary to me, but I'm excited for the future he can have. It’s been a breath of fresh air to see you taking life on after Trikafta. My daughter has been on Trikafta for 11 months. You talked about the difficulty in stifling your cough during social situations. My daughter always tried to stifle her cough. That’s one great thing post Trikafta to watch her laugh without coughing so much. The other surreal thing has been the complete absence of cough every morning. She is 29 yrs old and now breaths so much easier. You always come across as lackadaisical with things. Was it always like that before Trikafta or did you have days where you were cynical and on the bottom of moods. I don’t know any other experience with only having our daughter sick. One thing you probably know is the complete loss of control over this disease you have. As a parent I could never show my true fears to my daughter. She had enough on her plate as it was. So just in case your parents didn’t say this I bet they felt helpless watching their child or children suffering so much. Anyway I’m glad you guys are living and not dying,... just as my daughter is now. All the best and keep on enjoying life.

I’ve wondered many times about the impact of Trikafta on not just the physical body but the emotional/physiological dynamic. I have left a couple comments alluding to such...and I’m glad to hear Stephi being able to articulate how absolutely bizarre it is to have to shift your entire perspective because you get to live a more “normal” life now...the days of not having to plan or think ahead are gone and people were so celebratory in the beginning all I could think was...how terrifying!! Yes, it’s good, it’s great and I know you’re GRATEFUL but it’s still so much to come to terms with. Stephi, be well, you know that so many of us respect and support your decisions because you’re nothing but kind and thoughtful. Be safe, be well and keep us posted 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻

I am so happy that you both are able to take Trikafta. My best friend growing up had CF and when I was 18 I started volunteering at a CF camp that she use to go to. Ya know back when CF camps were allowed. Now Camp Pelican is mainly a Pulmonary Disease Camp. Mostly trachs, vents, asthma, PH, etc, and maybe one CFer or sibling Cfers. Over the years I have lost numerous friends with CF. At times I just wish they could have lived long enough to experience drugs like Trikafta, Symdeko, and Orkambi. I kinda understand where you two are coming from with the "getting used to your friends dying". I know it sounds morbid, but after you have lost 30 plus friends to this disease it kinda becomes the norm. My therapist is still trying to wrap her head around the way I think about this. She thinks I am not processing grief, but in reality, I have just accepted death. Anywho, look forward to catching up on your videos! Love ya long time!

Hope y'all can turn this into a life long friendship! It's very rare to meet someone that you can relate to in a way that not many would understand. And if you get along that's just a cherry on top! It's funny how he mentioned MRSA, I got that at 14 from a ingrown toenail that traveled into my bloodstream by going to a theme park while on a family vacation. I didn't want to ruin everyone's day by going to the doctor when it was just what I thought was a badly infected ingrown toenail when we all had that trip planned and I guess by going on all the Rides it was in my blood stream by that same night. Since I was in Pennsylvania we didn't know of any good hospital's so my mom took me to the closest one and I sat in there for 3 days with a 105 temp with my hip killing me and they didn't do anything. They didn't draw blood or nothing. So finally after 3 days a nurse told my mom to transfer me to Pittsburgh children's hospital. I don't remember any of this I was hallucinating so bad. But I guess they figured out what was wrong right away and got me into surgery on my hip but by that time it did so much damage I was eventually going to need a hip replacement but they were able to get it to last until I was 33 is when I finally got it. But from having the MRSA running through my body for those 3 days in the hospital it gave me long term Heath issues ever since. My immune system is super weak I'm constantly getting sick. That's the frustrating part because alot of my friends don't really understand what's wrong half the time. So that's my little story on MRSA lol. I'm really glad y'all we're able to meet in person and I hope you're enjoying your travels Stephi! You seem like such a free spirited person with a kind soul, if you get a chance to make it to the Daytona Beach area in Florida and need a place to plug in to recharge up you're more than welcome. It's right next to the river so there's alot of fresh air 😎🌊🌴🧘🏼♂️☮️

Being able to laugh is probably one of the best things to come from Tricafta for me, besides the whole being able to breathe and live longer thing lol. It was always so embarrassing to be with friends and if I was brave enough to laugh, start dying after. I had held back from laughing because of the coughing fits because I didn’t want to tell anyone I had CF. I never wanted to be looked at differently as I’m sure you have both experienced. When I was 12 I was told I wasn’t going to make it past 20 years old. I’ll be 28 November 29th so suck it Docs lol
