At the end, when they started trying out some boost, why did it making that cyclic exhaust sound every second or so under throttle? It didn't sound like they were worried about it or mentioned it at all, so I assume maybe they knew what that was. Anyone got an idea? It very noticable around 31:40, for instance.

i think its the wastegate sound with electronic boost controller. i used to have a turbocharged engine with screamer pipe, it sounds just like that before i remove the original boost solenoid and run the hose directly from turbo housing.

That's how a 4 banger with an external wastegate sounds bc it's pretty much just open manifold pre turbo screaming to atmosphere

I dailyed my 1g talon for all of my senior year of highschool and racked up 4k miles in a year. Had 3 buddies in it and I felt bad for the guys in the back seat. Only issues it gave me was both clutch cylinders going out on separate occasions and having to float gears home and shutting it off at every light then using the starter motor to get going. Still have it, runs like a champ!
@scadieee7 сағат бұрын
I think part of the issues with these chassis & generally the car culture is that, they try to get away with pushing parts past their intended use, old gas tanks, hoses, engine etc. If more people planed out to "properly" build & maintain in the first place, a lot more chassis would be reliable. Not sure about Subarus though
@MrJessegsx7 сағат бұрын
Hell yeah guys. Super stoked for Mark on his first 4G build!!! It’s wild what you guys have done in since the beginning of this build. I know DSMs can be finicky (they’re not Hondas, that’s for sure.) but…they are good cars 😉
@Ben-Rogue6 сағат бұрын
If you continue to have coolant leaks spring up, I'd look at the coolant cap plunger for roundness... I replaced my cap, and immediately sprung a leak. I checked my cap plunger with calipers, and it was slightly warped. That, combined with the lower clearance with the housing sidewalls, it was causing binding, and the pressure found the weakest link.

You need to get rid of all those old coolant lines and come back with all new fresh ones. OEM where possible, and use OEM constant tension hose clamps. I have chased coolant leaks on a couple of older cars now and on both of them I finally gave in and replaced all those hoses. Now, no more leaks. Edit nm posted before watching whole video. I would still do the constant tension clamps.

My jeep has the same filling issue. I found holding the handle up a little bit stops it. I DONT KNOW FOR SURE, but I think the weight of the handle puts a slight kink in the filler neck, causing some gas to get caught on its way down, and the vapors kick the pump off prematurely

As a long time DSM owner, I'm just shaking my head. The coolant leaks could have been prevented with new hoses instead of reuse of old hoses. The fuel leak as you said was on you, not the car. I've daily driven modified Talons, Eclipses, Galant VR-4s and other Mitsubishi products for years without serious issues. Also, the Eclipse hoop spoiler is giving me fits as a fan of the Talon. Have you thought about removing the spoiler and going with a 97-98 Talon front bumper and 2Gb High Rise wing?
